It had been a long peace- the Elder War had been three hundred years ago. So, Drake had gotten lazy. He lived in New Orleans, drank bourbon, and chased mortal skirt. His commander had gotten chill too- well, as chill as a five-hundred-year-old Japanese warlord with a telepathic kill zone could get.

Then Drake gets called into work one day, and there is death, disease, dark war, and the end of the world. So, there goes his weekend plan. He also sleeps with the Guardian of the Realm while on her protection duty, then gets himself kidnapped and tortured by a necromancer too. So, there goes his hope for a promotion.
