Selena's Duty: Clean Historical Western Romance (Blessed with Twins Book 5)

Selena’s Duty: Clean Historical Western Romance (Blessed with Twins Book 5)

Faith Parsons

Selena Hensley has dedicated herself to caring for the girls at the Lady of Our Sorrows orphanage. Especially twins Mary and Maggie, eight-year-old sisters traumatized by an abusive uncle. There’s nothing Selena wants more than to help these emotionally-damaged twins heal.

But Selena is running out of time—the orphanage has run out of money and the church has found places for all of the children except the twins. There’s no way Selena will find another job that will also allow her to give Mary and Maggie the extra care they need.

Logan McCord wants nothing more than to start a family with Selena, whose compassion and down-to-earth personality are everything he wants in a woman. He’s not sure he’s ready to be a father, but Selena’s clearly capable of caring for children, so he should be fine, right?

Only after Selena responds to Logan’s offer of marriage with a counter-proposal does he realize he might be in over his head: she’ll only marry him if he’s willing to adopt Mary and Maggie.

Will Logan and Selena find a way to put these shattered girls back together? Or will the strain of caring for the traumatized twins destroy their marriage?

How Can I Be Blessed?

R.C. Sproul

Summary

The Bible is clear that true blessing is only found in the presence of God and in His kingdom. Some of the Bible’s clearest teaching about life in the kingdom of God is found in the Sermon on the Mount. It is there that we find the Beatitudes, a series of promises of blessing. Are People Basically Good?

Are People Basically Good?

R.C. Sproul

Summary

The philosopher Blaise Pascal called man “the supreme paradox,” because compared to all other creatures, he is both the most magnificent and the most miserable. What did Pascal mean? The answer goes to the heart of what the Bible says about man.

Man is created in the image of God, but the Bible also tells us that man has fallen into sin and become corrupt. In Are People Basically Good?, Dr. R.C. Sproul explores the nature of mankind by looking at what it means to be made in the image of God and exploring the nature and effects of the fall.

Learnin' The Ropes

Learnin’ The Ropes

Shanna Hatfield

All he wanted was a job…
He didn’t plan on a beautiful boss, a crazy dog, or a ranch in the middle of nowhere

Out of work and out of luck, auto mechanic Ty Lewis responds in a moment of desperation to a classified ad for a job in Harney County, Oregon. Offered the position on a remote ranch, he bids goodbye to his sister and his life in Portland. When he arrives in the tiny community of Riley to begin a new adventure, he encounters the behemoth dog that rules the ranch although he has yet to meet his boss, an elusive employer named Lex Ryan.

Lexi Ryan, known to her ranch hands and neighbors as Lex Jr., leaves behind a successful career in Portland to keep the Rockin’ R Ranch running smoothly after the untimely death of her father. It doesn’t take long to discover her father did many crazy things during the last few months of his life, like hiding half a million dollars that Lexi can’t find.

Ty and Lexi are both in for a few surprises as he arrives at the Rockin’ R Ranch and begins learnin’ the ropes.

˃˃˃ An excerpt:

If the shaggy beast eyeballing him was a dog, it was without a doubt the largest he had ever seen. He briefly wondered if it was some sort of mutated horse from the sheer size of it, but the shape of its face and body made him think it was a canine.

Not sure whether it was friendly or sizing him up for an afternoon snack, Ty decided there was no way he could beat the thing back to his pickup. Carefully raising his phone, he called Swede.

“Swede, this is Ty Lewis. I’m standing on the front porch of the house and no one seems to be home.”

“Welcome to the Rockin’ R Ranch, Tyler. Ya must’ve made good time this mornin’,” Swede said. “Come on down to the barn. I’m workin’ inside the big double doors.”

“I’d be happy to, but there is an animal here on the porch and I’m not sure it wants me to move.” Ty warily watched the four-legged monster as it took a step closer to him.

“Thet’s Baby.” Swede cackled. “Sit tight. I’ll be right there. She generally don’t bite. As long as she ain’t growlin’, ya oughta be fine.”

“Thanks.” Ty slid his phone into his pocket. He took little comfort in the fact that the animal didn’t generally bite. Did that mean she did on occasion? Was he going to be an exception? He listened and realized the dog wasn’t making any noise. Not growling was good.

Faith Alone: A Daily Devotional

Martin Luther

Timeless insights from one of the most important people in church history.

Faith Alone is a treasury of accessible devotionals taken from Luther’s best writings and sermons from the years 1513 through 1546. This carefully updated translation retains the meaning, tone, and imagery of Luther’s works.

Through daily readings, Luther’s straightforward approach challenges you to a more thoughtful faith. Read one brief section a day or explore themes using the subject index in the back of the book. The Little Prince (Illustrated)

The Little Prince (Illustrated)

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

“The Little Prince” (French: “Le Petit Prince”), first published in 1943, is a novella, the most famous work of the French aristocrat, writer, poet, and pioneering aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900–1944).

The novella is the fourth most-translated book in the world and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France. Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects (as well as Braille), selling nearly two million copies annually with sales totaling over 140 million copies worldwide, it has become one of the best-selling books ever published.

After the outbreak of the Second World War Saint-Exupéry was exiled to North America. In the midst of personal upheavals and failing health, he produced almost half of the writings for which he would be remembered, including a tender tale of loneliness, friendship, love, and loss, in the form of a young prince fallen to Earth. An earlier memoir by the author had recounted his aviation experiences in the Sahara Desert, and he is thought to have drawn on those same experiences in “The Little Prince”.

Since its first publication in the United States, the novella has been adapted to numerous art forms and media, including audio recordings, radio plays, live stage, film screen, television, ballet, and operatic works.
