Just Us Girls: A Bible Study on Being God’s Girl in Middle School
Middle school isn’t easy.
It’s when you’re figuring out who you are, who you hang out with, and what you believe. It’s when friends become enemies and boys become…cute. It’s obvious we need some girl time. I’ll bring the discussion. You bring the chocolate.
We all need a day now and then when it’s Just Us Girls.
Life gets tough. People get mean. How do we push through? What does God’s plan mean for our lives? What does it mean to be God’s girl in middle school? Well, that’s what Just Us Girls is all about. Together we’re going to search the Word of God and find out:
* who you were meant to be
* what to do about drama
* where to find a good friend
* how beautiful you really are
* why God picked you to change the world
Just Us Girls can be used as a personal devotional and a group Bible study.
A Note From the Author
Throughout high school I’ve seen girls walk away, leave their faith, and end up completely shipwrecked spiritually and physically. I’ve also seen girls trust God, follow His leading, and live exceptional, adventurous lives in His glory. What’s the difference? Often the outcome was determined by questions and insecurities that started in middle school. This is why I wrote Just Us Girls.

Good and Cheap: Eat Well on $4/Day
While studying food policy as a master’s candidate at NYU, Leanne Brown asked a simple yet critical question: How well can a person eat on the $4 a day given by SNAP, the U.S. government’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program informally known as food stamps? The answer is surprisingly well: Broiled Tilapia with Lime, Spicy Pulled Pork, Green Chile and Cheddar Quesadillas, Vegetable Jambalaya, Beet and Chickpea Salad—even desserts like Coconut Chocolate Cookies and Peach Coffee Cake. In addition to creating nutritious recipes that maximize every ingredient and use economical cooking methods, Ms. Brown gives tips on shopping; on creating pantry basics; on mastering certain staples—pizza dough, flour tortillas—and saucy extras that make everything taste better, like spice oil and tzatziki; and how to make fundamentally smart, healthful food choices.
The idea for Good and Cheap is already proving itself. The author launched a Kickstarter campaign to self-publish and fund the buy one/give one model. Hundreds of thousands of viewers watched her video and donated $145,000, and national media are paying attention. Even high-profile chefs and food writers have taken note—like Mark Bittman, who retweeted the link to the campaign; Francis Lam, who called it “Terrific!”; and Michael Pollan, who cited it as a “cool kickstarter.” In the same way that TOMS turned inexpensive, stylish shoes into a larger do-good movement, Good and Cheap is poised to become a cookbook that every food lover with a conscience will embrace.

Sacred Marriage: What If God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy?
Your marriage is more than a sacred covenant with another person. It is a spiritual discipline designed to help you know God better, trust him more fully, and love him more deeply. What if God’s primary intent for your marriage isn’t to make you happy . . . but holy?
Sacred Marriage doesn’t just offer techniques to make a marriage happier. It does contain practical tools, but what married Christians most need is help in becoming holier husbands and wives. Sacred Marriage offers that help with insights from Scripture, church history, time tested wisdom from Christian classics, and examples from today’s marriages.
Sacred Marriage reveals how marriage trains us to love God and others well, how it exposes sin and makes us more aware of God’s presence, how good marriages foster good prayer, how married sex feeds the spiritual life, and more.
The revised edition of Sacred Marriage takes into account the ways men’s and women’s roles have expanded since the book was first written. It has been streamlined to be a faster read without losing the depth that so many readers have valued.
Sacred Marriage uncovers the mystery of God’s overarching purpose. This book may very well alter profoundly the contours of your marriage. It will most certainly change you. Because whether it is delightful or difficult, your marriage can become a doorway to a closer walk with God, and to a spiritual integrity that, like salt, seasons the world around you with the savor of Christ.

Soul Keeping: Caring For the Most Important Part of You
The soul is the coolest, eeriest, most mysterious, evocative, crucial, sacred, eternal, life-directing, fragile, indestructible, controversial, expensive dimension of your existence.
Jesus said it’s worth more than the world.
You’d be an idiot not to prize it above all else.
Shouldn’t you get pretty clear on exactly what it is?
Shouldn’t you know what it runs on?
Wouldn’t it be worth knowing how to care for it?
Two things are for sure. One is: you have a soul. The other is: if you don’t look after this one you won’t be issued a replacement.
Bestselling author John Ortberg writes another classic that will help readers discover their soul and take their relationship with God to the next level.

A Grace Disguised: How the Soul Grows through Loss
Loss came suddenly for Jerry Sittser. In an instant, a tragic car accident claimed three generations of his family: his mother, his wife, and his young daughter. While most of us will not experience such a catastrophic loss in our lifetime, all of us will taste it. And we can, if we choose, know as well the grace that transforms it.
A Grace Disguised plumbs the depths of sorrow, whether due to illness, divorce, or the loss of someone we love. The circumstances are not important; what we do with those circumstances is. In coming to the end of ourselves, we can come to the beginning of a new life—one marked by spiritual depth, joy, compassion, and a deeper appreciation of simple blessings.

Christian women are often led to believe they were created inferior to men, destined to play a secondary role. Proverbs 31 gets morphed into a judgment, the sole standard against which many feel like frauds or failures. But the Bible has much more to say about women!
Looking into the lives of 22 mold-breaking women of the Bible, bestselling author and women’s advocate J. Lee Grady shows that God enables His daughters for amazing–even impossible–exploits. Lee also reveals the empowering, often-overlooked gifts God gives each of His daughters–gifts like wisdom, fruitfulness, boldness and leadership. When women accept and use these gifts, they can live the fearless and beautiful lives of purpose God has ordained for them.
“Thank you, Lee Grady, for reminding us that God’s fearless daughters line the pages of the Bible. Each of their stories serves as a courageous call to follow God with abandon.”–Margaret Feinberg, author, Scouting the Divine and The Sacred Echo
“Discover the power and the purpose of women who dare to trust God.”–LaDonna C. Osborn, D.Min., CEO, Osborn Ministries International; president, Women’s International Network
“I pray God will use this book to raise up fearless daughters for Him today.”–Carolyn Custis James, author, Half the Church; president, Whityby Forum
“Throughout this book, I found myself getting stronger in my own faith and some of my fears began to subside. Along with the biblical women, Grady writes about women of more current times who display the same courage as their biblical counterparts. It made me realize that God has many plans for me to represent Him well – and that even one woman can cause many positive changes in the world. I consider this a must-read if you are afraid or unsure of what God’s purpose is for you. Through these stories and Scripture passages, you will find the strength to do what God asks of you. And you will no longer be frightened to step up and say, ‘Here I am, Lord. Send me!'” -Hope for Women
“This book is an encouragement for women–who may have been brought up in an environment that taught them otherwise–that they are loved by God, and if they will accept their inheritance and identity in Christ, he can work miracles through them as well.” –Worship Leader Magazine
