God's Gonna Make You Laugh: Understanding God's Timing for Your Life

God’s Gonna Make You Laugh: Understanding God’s Timing for Your Life

Noel Jones

Everyone can relate to walking through very dark periods in life which seem will never end. Noel Jones is not speaking from a vantage point of one who has never suffered so his words of encouragement and promise carry weight and hope. Sorrow and adversity come, but they do not stay. This book conveys the message that suffering and endurance are preparations for the reward that will come to the one who holds on to and trusts in the faithfulness of God. That one will experience the laughter of triumph. Joy comes in the morning to those who endure.

Chasing God

Chasing God

Angie Smith

Maybe you’ve never asked the question out loud, but you’ve wondered. You do the things that look good on paper: read your Bible, pray, attend study groups and go to church on Sundays.

But you aren’t convinced you really know Him.

Angie Smith understands, because she had run circles around the same paths searching for Him, frustrated at her lack of progress. And she probably would have continued to do so had it not been for one realization that changed everything.

She wasn’t following God; she was trying to catch up with Him.

And without realizing it, you may be as well.

It’s a distinction that affects every aspect of our lives with Christ, and it begins with learning where we’ve relied more on man’s explanation of God than God Himself.

So many requirements, so many rules, and so much guilt where there is supposed to be freedom. It’s the reason you wonder if you’ve measured up, and the nagging voice that tells you you’re a failure as a Christian.

Three simple words changed everything for Angie, and she believes they can do the same for you.

Stop chasing God.

Tell My Sons: A Father's Last Letters

Tell My Sons: A Father’s Last Letters

Lt Col Mark Weber

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

At the pinnacle of a soaring career in the U.S. Army, Lt. Col. Mark M. Weber was tapped to serve in a high-profile job within the Afghan Parliament as a military advisor. Weeks later, a routine physical revealed stage IV intestinal cancer in the thirty-eight-year-old father of three. Over the next two years he would fight a desperate battle he wasn’t trained for, with his wife and boys as his reluctant but willing fighting force.

When Weber realized that he was not going to survive this final tour of combat, he began to write a letter to his boys, so that as they grew up without him, they would know what his life-and-death story had taught him—about courage and fear, challenge and comfort, words and actions, pride and humility, seriousness and humor, and viewing life as a never-ending search for new ideas and inspiration.

This book is that letter. And it’s not just for his sons. It’s for everyone who can use the best advice a dying hero has to offer.

Weber’s stories illustrate that in the end you become what you are through the causes to which you attach yourself—and that you’ve made your own along the way. Through his example, he teaches how to live an ordinary life in an extraordinary way.

Praise for Tell My Sons

“A gift to us all . . . Every page exudes courage, honesty, and an indomitable spirit. Mark Weber’s story has touched me in such a profound way.”—Mitch Albom, author of Tuesdays with Morrie

“Tell My Sons is a deeply moving, personal account of a soldier’s journey into an ultimate frontier. As I read Mark Weber’s book, I was astonished by its honesty, courage, and discipline. This book offers one of the most profound and detailed descriptions of the strange world of cancer and should be essential reading for all of us who seek to understand that topsy-turvy terrain.”—Siddhartha Mukherjee, Pulitzer Prize–winning author of The Emperor of All Maladies

“Tell My Sons is one of the most profound and inspirational stories I have ever read. It may have been written for Mark’s children, but it may as well be a treatise for all of us about honest parenting and leadership with character in love, family, faith, and politics. For a man who is facing profound health issues, Mark is doing a remarkable job showing us all how to live with courage and integrity.”—Walter F. Mondale, former vice president of the United States

“This book is why I have always been proud to call Mark Weber my son. His ability to reach across complex boundaries and write and speak with such depth and beauty makes him a modern day Lawrence of Arabia. Mark’s passion, attitude, and thoughts about life are what is best about America.”—General Babakir S. Zibari, chief of defense, Republic of Iraq

“A poignant illustration of what being a hero is all about . . . Heroes exemplify invincible courage, character, and perseverance in times of insurmountable odds. Mark embodies these attributes. Tell My Sons will empower the reader with profound lessons of living life with hope and determination.”—John Elway, Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback

Angry People (Living Lessons from God's Word): . . . and What We Can Learn from Them (Living Lessons from God's Word)

Angry People (Living Lessons from God’s Word): . . . and What We Can Learn from Them (Living Lessons from God’s Word)

Warren W. Wiersbe

What do Moses, David, Jonah, and Jesus have in common with you?

They all experienced the fiery emotion of anger.

In this book, Bible teacher Warren Wiersbe uncovers some surprising insights about anger, an emotion everyone deals with regularly. He points out biblical principles that will help you control and display anger in a way that protects, builds up, and brings glory to God.

Using Scripture as his springboard, Wiersbe examines anger in many of its forms, showing how this God-given emotion worked for good or bad in the lives of some of the Bible’s most notorious-and righteous-people, including:

” Moses-anger gave him courage
” David-angry at other people’s sins
” Elisha-angry at missed opportunities
” Jesus-anger proved his love
” Jonah-an angry preacher

God’s Word has much to teach us on the subject of anger. As you learn about people in the Bible who felt the fire of anger, you will gain a new understanding of how to control this force and use it the way God intended.

Praying Backwards: Transform Your Prayer Life by Beginning in Jesus' Name

Praying Backwards: Transform Your Prayer Life by Beginning in Jesus’ Name

Bryan Chapell

“In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Like the closing credits of a movie, these familiar words provide a signal that a prayer has come to an end. But what does it mean to offer our prayers in Jesus’ name? Though we say the words, do we really mean them? And how would the content and character of our prayers change if we did?

Praying Backwards introduces believers to the transforming process of beginning our prayers in Jesus’ name-not by moving a simple phrase, but by understanding and embracing the meaning behind the phrase. To truly pray in Jesus’ name is to reorder our priorities in prayer-and in life-away from ourselves and toward Jesus and his kingdom. It is to pray, “Not my will, but your will be done.” It is to pray boldly, expectantly, and persistently. If you want to revolutionize your prayer life, begin by Praying Backwards.

“Across the years I have learned so much from Bryan Chapell that I thought the laws of mathematics would keep me from learning much more. But it happened again!”-Calvin Miller, author; professor, Beeson Divinity School

“Finally, here is a book on prayer that puts the person of our Lord before the petitions on our lists.”-Scotty Smith, senior pastor, Christ Community Church, Franklin, Tennessee

“With careful exposition of Scripture and helpful applications to daily life, Bryan Chapell encourages all of us to ‘pray and not lose heart’ (Luke 18:1).”-Jerry Bridges, author and speaker

Noah Primeval (Chronicles of the Nephilim Book 1)

Noah Primeval (Chronicles of the Nephilim Book 1)

Brian Godawa

Nephilim Giants, Watchers, Archangels. This is Not Your Sunday School Noah’s Ark.

Noah Primeval is a speculative retelling of the Genesis Bible story of Noah for a new generation.

In an ancient world submerged in darkness, fallen angels called Watchers rule as gods and breed giants called Nephilim. Mankind is enslaved to evil. Noah, a tribal leader, has been prophesied by his ancestor Enoch to save humanity from coming destruction. To rise against this supernatural evil and rescue his family Noah will need an equally supernatural army. But he also has to finish building his big boat.

Noah Primeval is the first book in the exciting Biblical Fantasy series, Chronicles of the Nephilim.

• It’s Biblically and historically faithful, with added ancient imagination.
• You will learn the origin of the Nephilim giants and the Watchers of Genesis 6.
• Many of the strange oddities of the Bible will finally begin to make sense.
• You will learn about a storyline thread in the Bible often overlooked: The War of the Seed.

Learn About the Historical and Biblical Research Behind the Novel

There seems to be a Nephilim craze these days. A great interest in the Watchers and the book of Enoch and Giants. Lots of books out there about the End Times and Nephilim in the modern day.

But Noah Primeval and Chronicles of the Nephilim Biblical Fantasy Series tells the original story from the ancient past that all began with Genesis 6.

Author Godawa shares the scholarly research that undergirds the fictional adventure. Noah Primeval has appendices that provide an explanation of Biblical concepts in the novel such as the Sons of God, Watchers, Nephilim, Giants, Leviathan, and the ancient Mesopotamian Cosmography in the Bible.

Beloved Bible Story Reads Like Watching a Movie

Noah Primeval is written in the spirit of The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings, blending fantasy and mythopoeia with history to retell the Biblical narrative with a fresh perspective, making it come alive in a new way, while staying true to the original spirit of the Bible story.

It’s like connecting the dots and filling in the story between the lines of what the Bible tells us.

A NOTE ON THE AGE APPROPRIATENESS OF THE NOVELS

Some Christians have asked what “rating” the novels have in terms of the portrayal of sex and violence. I would say the series is rated PG-13. The Chronicles do deal with evil behaviors that would be appropriate for mature teens and above. The violence in the Chronicles is like the book of Judges. The sexuality is like Song of Solomon, alluded to poetically, but obviously. The description of sexual evil is like Ezekiel 16, sometimes shocking, but never glorified. There is an occasional profane word or vulgarity like in Ezekiel 23, revealing spiritual wickedness.
