The Good Creative: 18 ways to make better art
Don’t doubt this book, its very educational and has so much to offer you no matter how much “business stuff” you’ve already learned.
In The Good Creative, I outline the 18 habits of the world’s most respected artists. It’s a concise, invigorating manifesto for creative pursuits of every kind.
Unlike the get-rich-while-you-meditate programs and e-courses that seem to multiply by the day, there offers no guarantees here. None. These 18 principles might not fund your early retirement, but when applied consistently with a healthy dose of hard work, they will help you to make better, more meaningful art. Now that’s a promise you can take to the bank (or at least to Twitter).
You’ll learn how to:
Promote yourself without feeling like a used car salesman
Hug your critics, embrace failure and reinvent your work
Launch small and build a larger, more engaged audience
Share your process and break the rules
You will NOT learn how to:
Take over the world from your bathtub
Win the Sundance Grand Jury prize
Earn six figures, yesterday
Make an age-defying green smoothie (but you might learn how to attract more fans and readers for your recipe books)

HearthLand: Faith, Hope, & Love (Episode:19)
Again, another great installment in this novel. I look forward to reading the rest of the story! Really enjoyable and inspirational story.
Taking a step back in time–deliberately.
After a trip to Walden Farm and an afternoon talking to Chad and Willow Tesdall, Ralph Myner caught a vision for what life could be like. Against the advice of his nephew, Ralph sinks his entire retirement account into an incredibly risky venture.
Harlan Walker thinks his uncle has gone crazy. With the project in motion, all he can do is try to find people to invest their time, money, and even their lives into Ralph’s project before the man ends up broke and without means to survive.
People come from all walks of life as they embrace a new world–the world of HearthLand.
Episode 19: Wedding plans have taken over HearthLand, and it seems almost everyone is getting into the spirit of things–to the delight of some and disapproval of others. Ralph has an idea to solve Annie’s problems, but she isn’t convinced. But just as everything seems right with the world, everything goes wrong.

The Four Season Farm Gardener’s Cookbook
I really like this book and feel that this book, more than other Coleman books, nails the needs of home gardeners wanting to experiment with extended season gardening.
Barbara Damrosch and Eliot Coleman are America’s foremost organic gardeners—and authorities. Barbara is the author of The Garden Primer, and Eliot wrote the bible for organic gardening, The New Organic Grower. Today they are the face of the locavore movement, working through their extraordinary Four Season Farm in Maine. And now they’ve written the book on how to grow what you eat, and cook what you grow.
The Four Season Farm Gardener’s Cookbook is two books in one. It’s a complete four-season cookbook with 120 recipes from Barbara, a master cook as well as master gardener, who shows how to maximize the fruits—and vegetables—of your labors, from Stuffed Squash Blossom Fritters to Red Thai Curry with Fall Vegetables to Hazelnut Torte with Summer Berries.
And it’s a step-by-step garden guide that works no matter how big or small your plot, with easy-to-follow instructions and plans for different gardens. It covers size of the garden, nourishing the soil, planning ahead, and the importance of rotating crops—yes, even in your backyard. And, at the core, individual instructions on the crops, from the hardy and healthful cabbage family to fourteen essential culinary herbs.
Eating doesn’t get any more local than your own backyard.

Piper summons the wisdom of the Scriptures, well-known doctors of the Faith, and his own experiences as a pastor to provide a good word to the hurting. His reminders of who we are in Christ will help even the darkest souls.
“It is utterly crucial that in our darkness we affirm the wise, strong hand of God to hold us, even when we have no strength to hold him.”
John Piper
Even the most faithful, focused Christians can encounter periods of depression and spiritual darkness when joy seems to stay just out of reach. It can happen because of sin, satanic assault, distressing circumstances, or hereditary and other physical causes. In When the Darkness Will Not Lift, John Piper aims to give some comfort and guidance to those experiencing spiritual darkness.
Readers will gain insight into the physical side of depression and spiritual darkness, what it means to wait on the Lord in a time of darkness, how unconfessed sin can clog our joy, and how to minister to others who are living without light. Piper uses real-life examples and sensitive narrative to show readers abundant reason to hope that God will pull them out of the pit of despair and into the light once again.

Teach Us to Want: Longing, Ambition and the Life of Faith
Jen’s love for Scripture is self-evident. She deftly intertwines stories from Genesis, verses from the New Testament, and interlaces C.S. Lewis, Buechner, L’Engle, Norris, and a myriad of other Christian giants. Her masterful writing is so absorbing that I often forgot where Jen’s prose ended and L’Engle began.
The story of each person is a story of want—desires unmet, hopes dashed, passions pursued and ambitions fulfilled. Our wants cannot be ignored. But when desire is informed by Scripture and re-formed by our spiritual practices, it can root us more deeply in the fundamental belief that God is good and generous and invite us into active kingdom participation.
Jen Pollock Michel guides us on a journey of understanding who we are when we want, and reintroduces us to a God who gives us the desires of our hearts. That same good God calls us into a new reality in which we seek first his kingdom and righteousness, and we discover our disordered desires burned away while our truest longings are happily fulfilled and purified. The disciples asked Jesus to “Teach us to pray.” This book asks, “Teach us to want.”

All in all, this was a very intriguing story of an unconventional, long-distance relationship that dealt with temptation, boundaries, understandings, misunderstandings, and dreams of happily-ever-after.
Their chemistry–so intense that they can’t risk affection. Their temptation threshold is simply too narrow to risk.
Cara has a unique talent for making anyone feel at ease. Jonathan prefers to listen rather than speak.
But some things must be spoken–never assumed.

What a great book, I am enjoying every part of the story
Saddled with a man’s name, the captivating Billy Jack Tate makes no apologies for taking on a man’s profession. As a doctor at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, she is one step closer to having her very own medical practice—until Hunter Scott asks her to give it all up to become his wife.
Hunter is one of the elite. A Texas Ranger and World’s Fair guard specifically chosen for his height, physique, character, and skill. Hailed as the toughest man west of any place east, he has no patience for big cities and women who think they belong anywhere but home…
Despite their difference of opinion on the role of women, Hunter and Billy find a growing attraction between them—until Hunter discovers an abandoned baby in the corner of a White City exhibit. He and Billy team up to make sure this foundling isn’t left in the slums of Chicago with only the flea-riddled, garbage-infested streets for a playground. As they fight for the underprivileged children in the Nineteenth Ward, an entire Playground Movement is birthed. But when the Fair comes to an end, one of them will have to give up their dream.
Will Billy exchange her doctor’s shingle for the domesticated role of a southern wife, or will Hunter abandon the wide open spaces of home for a life in the “gray city,” a woman who insists on being the wage earner, and a group of ragamuffins who need more than a playground for breathing space?
