—
Sergio Cariello was born in Brazil in 1964 and started drawing as soon as could hold a pencil. At the age of five, he already knew that he wanted to be a cartoonist. And so did everyone else–he drew on church bulletins, napkins, and every surface wtihin his reach. He currently resides in Holiday, Florida.
Sergio has worked for Marvel Comics and DC Comics. He attended the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art as well as the Word of Life Bible Institute in upstate New York.
In February, 2006, he was contacted by David C. Cook to gauge his interest in a new project; completely re-illustrating Cook’s classic Picture Bible. What David C. Cook couldn’t know is that Sergio had grown up in Brazil with a Portuguese translation of that very same Picture Bible. He was reading the Picture Bible before he learned to ride a bike! Even though he knew as a kid that he wanted to be a comic artist, he never would have dreamed that he would one day get to work on the Picture Bible itself!

Michal (The Wives of King David Book #1): A Novel
Michal captivated me from the first page. I know that sounds, cliche, but it’s true.
The daughter of King Saul, Michal lives a life of privilege–but one that is haunted by her father’s unpredictable moods and competition from her beautiful older sister. As a girl, Michal quickly falls for the handsome young harpist David. But soon after their romance begins, David must flee for his life, leaving Michal at her father’s mercy in the prison that is King Saul’s palace.
Will Michal ever be reunited with David? Or is she doomed to remain separated from him forever?
Against the backdrop of opulent palace life, raging war, and daring desert escapes, Jill Eileen Smith takes you on an emotional journey as Michal deals with love, loss, and personal transformation as the first wife of King David.
Jill Eileen Smith has more than twenty years of writing experience, and her writing has gathered acclaim in several contests. Her research into the lives of David’s wives has taken her from the Bible to Israel, and she particularly enjoys learning how women lived in Old Testament times. Jill lives with her family in southeast Michigan.

A Hidden Truth (Home to Amana Book #1)
After reading many historical novels, I have discovered that recent releases tend to fall into a cliched plot, but Judith Miller has written a wonderful plot with a little mystery mixed in. She went to great detail about what life would have been like at the Amana Colonies. The characters are very likeable and the dialogue is great. Overall, I enjoyed reading every bit of A Hidden Truth and I’m looking forward to reading the author’s next book.
When Karlina Richter finds out that a new shepherd will be sent to East Amana, she fears she’ll no longer be able to help her father with the sheep. She’ll be relegated back to kitchen work, a job she dislikes. Her fears increase when Anton Becker arrives and shows little interest in the flock–or in divulging why he’s been sent to East. Dare she trust Anton to help her father, or is he keeping secrets that will impact them all?
After learning that her father will be transferred from Cincinnati to a job in Texas, Dovie Cates decides she wants to visit the Amana Colonies, where her mother spent her formative years. She writes to relatives still living in the Colonies and is invited to spend some time there. Soon after her arrival, Dovie meets Berndt, the handsome young man who delivers bread to the kitchen house each day. But when Dovie begins to ask questions about her mother’s past, no one seems willing to tell her anything, so Dovie decides to take matters into her own hands. Will her decision spell disaster for her future with Berndt?

nce again Nancy Moser chooses a unique setting and characters for An Unlikely Suitor. She takes us to the Gilded Age NYC tenements and the grandeur of the summer cottages, really mansions on Newport Island. The author creates unforgettable and flawed characters; I appreciated that.

One More Last Chance (A Place to Call Home Book #2): A Novel
I have to say this is a must read and I highly recommend this book. This is a book Binge book no doubt.
Sarah Cooley has come home to Last Chance, New Mexico, for one reason–because it doesn’t change. After a relationship gone bad with a man who wanted to change everything about her, Sarah is more than ready for the town whose motto may as well be, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Chris Reed, on the other hand, wants nothing more than to spark some change in the little town. As the new owner of the Dip ‘n’ Dine, he’s shaking things up to draw folks from all over the Southwest into his restaurant.
As it turns out, the winds of change are blowing into Last Chance–just not in the ways that Sarah or Chris might expect.
With the same evocative writing and charming characters that won fans for her debut novel, Cathleen Armstrong invites you back to Last Chance for a heartwarming, romantic story of two people navigating the twists and turns of life in a small town.
Praise for Welcome to Last Chance
“Armstrong’s style is as comfortable as a pair of well-worn jeans.”–Crosswalk

At Home in Last Chance (A Place to Call Home Book #3): A Novel
You are going to want to move to Last Chance, it is a sleepy little town with lots of heart. I gave this book 5 stars and I recommend this book.
Kaitlyn Reed and Steven Braden have always had a similar philosophy of life: when the going gets tough, they get going–out of town and away from the problem. Now they are both back in Last Chance, New Mexico, and trying to start over.
Kaitlyn is working to reestablish a relationship with the seven-year-old daughter she left behind six months earlier. Steven is trying to prove to his family that he is not the irresponsible charmer they have always known him to be. As Kaitlyn and Steven find themselves drawn to one another, one big question keeps getting in the way: How will they learn to trust each other when they don’t even trust themselves?
With emotional depth and characters who leap off the page and into your heart, Cathleen Armstrong invites you to return once more to the dusty and delightful town of Last Chance.
Cathleen Armstrong lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Ed, and their corgi. Though she has been in California for many years now, her roots remain deep in New Mexico where she grew up and where much of her family still lives. She is the author of Welcome to Last Chance, winner of the 2009 American Christian Fiction Writers Genesis Award for Women’s Fiction, and One More Last Chance.

I love mystery stories like this one because I was actually able to follow along with Ellie as she kept track of everything that she witnessed or learned each day. Many characters with different viewpoints were introduced, but it was not confusing at all. I was able to keep up with each character and was able to relate his or her importance with the overall story.
Jobless and down to her last dime, Ellie Moore hears about a position with the Pinkerton Detective Agency and believes it’s the perfect chance to put her acting skills and costumes to use. Reluctantly, the agency agrees to give her one assignment, one chance to prove herself. Disguised as Lavinia Stewart, a middle-aged widow, Ellie travels to Arizona to begin her investigation. When the need arises, she also transforms into the dazzling Jessie Monroe, whose vivacious personality encourages people to talk.
Mine owner Steven Pierce is going to lose his business if he can’t figure out who’s stealing his silver shipments. In his wildest dreams, he never expected to receive help from a gray-haired widow…or to fall in love with her beautiful niece.
Then the thieves come after Lavinia and Jessie. Ellie isn’t safe no matter which character she plays! Should she give up and reveal her true identity? What will Steven do when he realizes the woman he’s falling in love with doesn’t really exist?
Set in 1880s Arizona, Love in Disguise blends romance, humor, and mystery for a can’t-put-down read.
“Cox does a wonderful job of combining historical details, romance, and suspense. Though Cox’s latest has moments of humor, it will still appeal to fans of Dee Henderson for the suspense aspect.” –Library Journal
“Cox has fleshed out a fascinating cast of characters that move readers through a novel that dispenses romance and wit in the intriguing context of a Wild West mystery. A most delightful and engaging read.” –Publishers Weekly
“Carol Cox has once again crafted a delightful story with elements of adventure, romance, and humor…Heartwarming, witty and engaging, this story captured me from the first pages and kept me riveted until the end.” –Historical Novels Review
“From start to finish, this book had me hooked and I hated having to put it down for any reason. Not only does Love in Disguise contain the perfect blend of character development, mystery and romance, it’s also entirely original and unlike anything I’ve come across in this genre. And although I appreciated the originality of Love in Disguise, I can’t help but hope that Carol gets the chance to write another novel about a female detective. If she does, you can be certain that I’ll be one of the first to get my hands on it.” –Christian Manifesto

The Day I Met Jesus: The Revealing Diaries of Five Women from the Gospels
If Frank and Mary have done their job well, the Gospels will rise up and walk around your living room. They certainly did in mine.
Two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ met face-to-face with people just like you. Broken, imperfect, sometimes fearful and without hope. The Day I Met Jesus is a beautifully crafted narrative that chronicles the remarkable encounters of five women in the Gospels who were desperate to find wholeness, security, and purpose. Like all of us, these women struggled with the regrets of their pasts, the stresses of their presents, and the worries of their tomorrows.
Join Frank Viola and Mary DeMuth on a fascinating journey back in time as they retell the dramatic accounts of five women who met Jesus. Each narrative is told from each woman’s unique perspective, yet tightly grounded in the Gospel accounts and faithful to first-century history. Elegantly written and profoundly stirring, this book blends creative narrative with uncommon insight, spiritual depth, and practical application.
If you are someone who seeks a renewal of hope, faith, and love, The Day I Met Jesus will make your Bible come to life and usher you into a fresh encounter with your Lord.
“We all long to lift the veil of history and catch a glimpse of the real story–the one that makes our hearts pound, our faith grow, and our lives change. That’s exactly what Frank Viola and Mary DeMuth offer.”–Holley Gerth, author of You’re Already Amazing and You’re Made for a God-Sized Dream
“Truly a wonderful book.”–Liz Curtis Higgs, bestselling author of Bad Girls of the Bible
“Jesus, from the very beginning, has been ‘good news for women.’ One reads of His encounters with the women described in this book with a sense of wonder that these interactions took place two thousand years ago.”–John Ortberg, pastor, author of Who Is This Man?

Becoming One: A Story of Triumph Over Dissociative Identity Disorder
What I found so interesting about the book and why it differs from so many available is that it has a mixture of both speaking about the history that resulted in the DID as well as focusing on the healing. At no point in the book did I feel drowned in either psychology or overtly graphic narratives of abuse. At the same time, neither was sugar coated – it had a feeling of being very real to me. I went into this being very skeptical but now know it’s a book I will most likely reference again and again for quite some time and most likely involve in my own journey to healing.
This is the 2014 ebook edition of the 1997 paperback Becoming One: A Story of Triumph Over Multiple Personality Disorder, ISBN 978-0962387982, by Sarah E. Olson. It includes a 2014 Addendum, a new Foreword by Howard Asher Psy.D, and a new linked resources page.
Two little girls, the author and her sister, were routinely terrorized and assaulted over a period of years by a family friend. One grew up closed and withdrawn, the other angry, self-destructive, and dissociated. Most painful of all, their common suffering resulted in estrangement from each other. Becoming One began as Sarah Olson’s attempt to provide a written account of her memories for her sister as a means of reconciliation and healing.
Becoming One documents Sarah’s four-year process of discovery and recovery from Dissociative Identity Disorder. Utilizing letters she wrote to her therapist, Howard Asher, Psy.D, and transcripts from key audiotaped therapy sessions, Sarah created a book which offers a model of healing and hope to survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
The author’s courage and generosity in candidly sharing her remarkable experiences provides important insights into the world of dissociation. This book is a highly personal look into an individual life, the dynamics of a troubled family, and the healing power of the therapeutic process.
Praise for Becoming One (from the 1997 edition, ISBN 978-0962387982, format: paperback):
“Sarah Olson has written a fascinating account of her amazing healing journey and the mind’s creative capacity to surmount unimaginable horror. Everyone can benefit from this inspiring book.” ~ Lynne D. Finney, J.D., M.S.W., Author of Reach for the Rainbow: Advanced Healing for Survivors of Sexual Abuse
“Becoming One is a hopeful book which both dignifies people with Dissociative Identity Disorder, and sensitizes the rest of us to what that means and what can be done. Highly recommended.” ~ Midwest Book Review
“Piecing Sarah back together is like piecing a puzzle or mosaic together. Once all the pieces are in place, you are left with a beautiful image. Sterling work.” ~ BeatleBangs1964 Vine Voice
“This book gives incredible insight into the work required by both the therapist and the patient with DID. … I recommend Becoming One for both therapists and for those who continue to suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder.” ~ Meowzer
“Wonderful book for a reference for my classes.” ~ Wild Blue
“In process myself and working through much of what Sarah describes, I could only say that I feel validated and believed, and perhaps for the first time, understood, by someone else.” ~ raysemma

10 Things Jesus Never Said: And Why You Should Stop Believing Them
God finds two kinds of people at the end of ropes: worn-out sinners and worn-out Christians. As Davis points out, both need the same thing. Grace. This book, written by someone who found it, will help others find it as well.
What do you think Jesus would say to you if you were face-to-face with him right now? Many of us imagine he would say something like, “I can’t believe you call yourself a Christian,” “If you really loved me, you’d try harder,” or “I’m so disappointed in you.” But these are things Jesus never said.
10 Things Jesus Never Said unmasks commonly believed myths about our relationship with God and shows how to replace them with the truth of how Jesus really feels about us. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter help small groups or individuals apply these truths to their current situations.
If you’ve ever felt you didn’t measure up to God’s standards, it’s time to stop believing the lies and start believing the things Jesus really did say!
“With stunning simplicity, Will Davis diffuses debilitating, unfounded guilt, inviting us to enjoy God with newfound trust and empowering truth.”–Bob and Audrey Meisner, television hosts, It’s a New Day; bestselling authors, Marriage Under Cover
“This will be a tool I will put in the hands of one person after another. Will clearly and biblically addresses the questions that tend to haunt so many, and in so doing infuses us with hope, reminds us of our Father’s grace, and causes us to smile.”–Jeff Young, pastor of spiritual development, Prestonwood Baptist Church, Plano, Texas
“Will Davis Jr.’s best book yet. You are about to be humbled, dismantled, and brought face-to-face with the misbeliefs that have stood between you and the most beautiful love that has ever been known.”–Nancy Turner, host, This Is the Day, Moody Radio
