This is the kind of book your grandma would write but in a very relevant and funky way. Great ideas make great gifts and this book is full to the brim of great ideas. As a creative person I think I would just keep these works of art on the mantlepiece and show them off. A wonderful book that takes a very refreshing and original look at baking. 5 stars đ

Suzanne…most excellent! God used your book to affect the life of someone you don’t even know. There’s no way to thank you enough for writing it.
Do you trust God with your heart’s desire? With the dream you’ve held onto for years without an answer?
This 31-day devotional explores how we can share our dreams and fears with God, and discover that He cares and loves our dreams. Each day features Bible verses for meditation and a short essay for your personal reflection and prayer.
If you’ve wondered if your dreams will ever come to life, you will find comfort in this 31-day devotional for young women as we walk together through God’s Word. By the end of our month together, you’ll find new hope for your dreams, and Jesus calling you into a relationship that will be a lifelong source of comfort and strength.
From this day forward, while you’re waiting for your dream, you’ll know that you’re not alone.
Waiting is often when God draws us closest to Him, to receive the gift of His companionship. Instead of waiting on God to fix your life, you’ll find that you are working with God to create the life He’s planned for you all along.
When you feel alone, don’t despair: God is with you. God loves you. God will never abandon you.
Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink,
He will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher with
your own eyes. Your own ears will hear him.
Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,”
whether to the right or to the left. ~ Isaiah 30:20 -22

A Hope Revealed (Prescott Pioneers Book 4)
The Prescott Pioneers series by Karen Baney is one of my favourite series as of late, and I have been looking forward to the fourth and final book, A Hope Revealed for quite some time.
Christian Historical Romance set in the Arizona Territory in 1866.
Pain. Disappointment. Fear.
Life turned out differently than Mary Colter expected. With her abusive husband either missing or dead, and the ranch gone, she is left to raise her two children on her own. When a neighbor takes compassion on her, she finds her hope ignitedâperhaps she can start over on her brother-in-lawâs ranch in Arizona.
Warren Cahill is confronted with one problem after another in his new role as foreman of Colter Ranch. Missing cattle and hot-headed cowhands take most of his attention. When Mary arrives at the ranch, tensions rise and he finds himself in the middle of it.
Will Maryâs hope for a life free from abuse finally be realized? Can Warren move beyond his past to embrace a new hope?
QED Seal of Approval
A Hope Revealed has passed the Publishers Innovation Awards’ 13 point checklist for Quality, Excellence, and Design. What does this mean for you, the reader? This ebook renders well in your preferred reading format (i.e. font size changes, etc.)

I just finished Sweet Mercy. And I loved it. It was just so good. The characters, the story…everything. It was Christian, but it wasn’t preachy. It was just wonderful.
When Eve Marryat’s father is laid off from the Ford Motor Company in 1931, he is forced to support his family by leaving St. Paul, Minnesota, and moving back to his Ohio roots. Eve’s uncle Cyrus has invited the family to live and work at his Marryat Island Ballroom and Lodge.
Eve can’t wait to leave St. Paul, a notorious haven for gangsters. At seventeen, she considers her family to be “good people,” not lawbreakers like so many in her neighborhood. Thrilled to be moving to a “safe haven,” Eve soon forms an unlikely friendship with a strange young man named Link, blissfully unaware that her uncle’s lodge is anything but what it seems.
When the reality of her situation finally becomes clear, Eve is faced with a dilemma. Does she dare risk everything by exposing the man whose love and generosity is keeping her family from ruin? And when things turn dangerous, can she trust Link in spite of appearances?
“In this coming-of-age novel, Christy winner Tatlock manages to offer readers an eclectic mixture of suspense and romance combined with deeply rooted historical elements… [She] presents endearing but flawed characters who prompt readers to explore their own bases for judgment and ethical criticism.” –Publishers Weekly
“Lush physical descriptions offer a pleasing backdrop to this tale of mystery and romance that focuses on the necessity of love and forgiveness as well as the magnitude of God’s mercy.” –RT Book Reviews

The Dance (The Restoration Series Book #1): A Novel
Reading “The DANCE” encourages, nay, demands one to express their love to their spouse. A convicting relationship grabber.
Combining the literary talents of bestselling author Dan Walsh and the relationship expertise of bestselling author Gary Smalley, The Dance is the romantic first novel in The Restoration Series. Readers will get caught up in these flawed but earnest characters as they rediscover genuine love and start a transformation that will ultimately affect their whole family.

Having read Anne Mateer’s first two books, Wings of a Dream and At Every Turn, I was really looking forward to reading A Home for My Heart. I love the stories that Anne Mateer creates and I love the way her stories touch your heart and leave you yearning for more.
Sadie Sillsby works as the assistant to the matron at the Raystown Home for Orphan and Friendless Children, pouring all her energy into caring for the boys and girls who live there and dreaming of the day she’ll marry her beau, Blaine, and have children of her own. But when the matron surprises everyone by announcing her own engagement, Sadie is suddenly next in line for the esteemed job of running the orphanage.
There’s one glitch. The matron cannot be married. She must focus her attention on the financial, legal, and logistical matters of the Home. Sadie’s heart is torn. Should she give up her plans for a life with Blaine in order to continue serving these children who have no one else? Does she, a young woman who was once an orphan herself, have what it takes to succeed in such a challenging career? And when the future of the Home begins to look bleak, can Sadie turn things around before the place is forced to close forever?
“Full of characters who will touch your heart.” –RT Book Reviews

Loved this book! Finally an entertaining story that is uplifting. I light enough to enjoy, but deep enough to learn from it. Highly recommend.
Still mourning a broken engagement, Grace inherits a hibiscus with a legacy she fears she will kill. Doubt in her capacity to nurture anything prompts her to bring the plant into the clothing store she manages, and the dynamic personalities of the female staff band together to help it bloom. Grace and the hibiscus blossom through a wedding and a birth, but its unexpected death pushes her to face false assumptions, opening a path for new love to appear.
The simple gift is more than a plant. When it blooms, so does she. But when it dies, she fears love will too.

Focus: The Hidden Driver of Excellence
In part this book is aimed at helping readers become better at what they do. In this sense “Focus” is a sophisticated self-help book. Love what you do, do what you love and do it with focus and deliberate (and smart) practice and your life will be more rewarding.
In Focus, Psychologist and journalist Daniel Goleman, author of the #1 international bestseller Emotional Intelligence, offers a groundbreaking look at todayâs scarcest resource and the secret to high performance and fulfillment: attention.
Combining cutting-edge research with practical findings, Focus delves into the science of attention in all its varieties, presenting a long overdue discussion of this little-noticed and under-rated mental asset. In an era of unstoppable distractions, Goleman persuasively argues that now more than ever we must learn to sharpen focus if we are to survive in a complex world.
Goleman boils down attention research into a threesome: inner, other, and outer focus. Drawing on rich case studies from fields as diverse as competitive sports, education, the arts, and business, he shows why high-achievers need all three kinds of focus, and explains how those who rely on Smart Practicesâmindfulness meditation, focused preparation and recovery, positive emotions and connections, and mental âprostheticsâ that help them improve habits, add new skills, and sustain greatnessâexcel while others do not.

The Teenage Brain: A Neuroscientist’s Survival Guide to Raising Adolescents and Young Adults
Even if your kids are pre-teens, it’s not too early to read this book. You may also want to share sections of it with your teens as part of family conversations.
Drawing on her research knowledge and clinical experience, internationally respected neurologistâand mother of two boysâFrances E. Jensen, M.D., offers a revolutionary look at the science of the adolescent brain, providing remarkable insights that translate into practical advice for both parents and teenagers.
Driven by the assumption that brain growth was pretty much complete by the time a child began kindergarten, scientists believed for years that the adolescent brain was essentially an adult oneâonly with fewer miles on it. Over the last decade, however, the scientific community has learned that the teen years encompass vitally important stages of brain development.
Motivated by her personal experience of parenting two teenage boys, renowned neurologist Dr. Frances E. Jensen gathers what weâve discovered about adolescent brain functioning, wiring, and capacity and, in this groundbreaking, accessible book, explains how these eye-opening findings not only dispel commonly held myths about the teenage years, but also yield practical suggestions that will help adults and teenagers negotiate the mysterious world of adolescent neurobiology.
Interweaving clear summary and analysis of research data with anecdotes drawn from her years as a parent, clinician, and public speaker, Dr. Jensen explores adolescent brain functioning and development in the contexts of learning and multitasking, stress and memory, sleep, addiction, and decision-making.
Rigorous yet accessible, warm yet direct, The Teenage Brain sheds new light on the brainsâand behaviorsâof adolescents and young adults, and analyzes this knowledge to share specific ways in which parents, educators, and even the legal system can help them navigate their way more smoothly into adulthood.

The Bible Tells Me So: Why Defending Scripture Has Made Us Unable to Read It
Fantastic book! If youâve ever wondered how to read the Bible like Jesus, hereâs your answer in a fun, easy-to-read publication. Peter Enns takes you on a walk through the Bible, pointing out how impossible it is to read it as either a history book or a rulebook.
The controversial Bible scholar and author of The Evolution of Adam recounts his transformative spiritual journey in which he discovered a new, more honest way to love and appreciate Godâs Word.
Trained as an evangelical Bible scholar, Peter Enns loved the Scriptures and shared his devotion, teaching at Westminster Theological Seminary. But the further he studied the Bible, the more he found himself confronted by questions that could neither be answered within the rigid framework of his religious instruction or accepted among the conservative evangelical community.
Rejecting the increasingly complicated intellectual games used by conservative Christians to âprotectâ the Bible, Enns was conflicted. Is this what God really requires? How could Godâs plan for divine inspiration mean ignoring what is really written in the Bible? These questions eventually cost Enns his jobâbut they also opened a new spiritual path for him to follow.
The Bible Tells Me So chronicles Ennsâs spiritual odyssey, how he came to see beyond restrictive doctrine and learned to embrace Godâs Word as it is actually written. As he explores questions progressive evangelical readers of Scripture commonly face yet fear voicing, Enns reveals that they are the very questions that God wants us to considerâthe essence of our spiritual study.

~*~ EXCERPT ~*~
Okay, there are certain things in this life a girl just shouldnât have to deal with. Changing flat tires for instance. Radiators overheating, yes. A busted pipe. Programming the remote control. But being blindsided like that wasnât fair at all. When the door closed between them, Maggie forced herself to breathe in a deep inhale. It did nothing at all to stop the swimming of her thoughts or the racing of her heart, but at that point anything was worth a try.
Showing up in the kitchen at breakfast for no reason was one thing. Showing up when she was in her oldest pajamas with the rip on one side was quite another. Her hand went up to her hair, and she raked her fingers through it extra hard. There was no telling how she looked, but how he looked? Wow, was he easy on the eyes. Not to even mention how heart-stoppingly handsome he was minus the hat and the bandana. Dark hair, cropped extra short, and that face, and that smile. Ugh. It just wasnât fair.
She rolled her eyes so she was looking up at the ceiling in desperation. âGod, listen to me. I do not need to fall for this guy. I donât need him to keep showing up like this. Please. Please. Iâm asking YouâŚâ
