Hope for the Heart of the Homeschool Mom: Encouragement for the Days When Sanity is Limited
I enjoyed Jamerrill being open and sharing her heart. It has encouraged me. I will recommend this delightful read to my friends.
Hope. Encouragement. Sanity. On any number of homeschooling days, I’ve needed all three. It’s not that
homeschooling is an unwanted chore. Homeschooling my children is one of my greatest joys. It’s a
privilege. I’m so incredibly blessed by this undertaking.
And I’m challenged. I’m pulled. I’m stretched. I’m growing. I’m finding my reheated coffee in the microwave at 2 p.m. wondering where the morning went. Trying hard to soak up the sweet and sacred moments with these souls and miss stepping on the Lego pile in the process.
Friend, I’m sure you’ve felt the same.
The pages of Hope for the Heart of the Homeschool Mom is a collection of encouragement to prayerfully strengthen your soul for this God-given journey. A journey that’s beyond stretching and beyond worth it.

Confessions of a Prayer Slacker
I really enjoyed this book. Diane takes us on her own personal prayer journey with honesty & humor. I’ve read many books on prayer, most of which left me feeling even guiltier about my prayer life than before I read them. This book left me inspired, hopeful & encouraged to begin a new journey into a more meaningful prayer life. Our prayers really do matter.
”I want my readers to stop the merry-go-round of prayerlessness, quit acting like a bunch of spiritual babies, and get serious about this thing called prayer. Without it, we’ll never experience the warm, one-on-one relationship God desires to have with each one of us.”

Kiss Me Like You Mean It: Solomon’s Crazy in Love How-To Manual
Passion within marriage is something to be nurtured and valued. Dr. Clarke writes from a Biblical perspective, but this book would be beneficial to ANY marriage whether Christian or not.
Yes, it’s true–that glorious, heart-pumping feeling of love and desire does seem to vanish in the wake of kids, careers, and, well, life. But you can reclaim that mad-for-you, crazy-in-love feeling, and this time it will be deeper and more intimate than ever before. Your guide? King Solomon, the Bible’s greatest lover, who has a few secrets up his ancient sleeve about how a husband and wife can experience unending passion–and have a blast doing it.
Psychologist and marriage therapist Dr. David Clarke shows you why the ardent exchanges and God-inspired, 3,000-year-old techniques of Solomon and Shulamith worked then–and still work today. You will learn how to troubleshoot problems and conflicts, put each other first, have fun, flirt, and be more playful and sensual.
You got married because you were over-the-moon wild about each other, and you can experience that exhilarating passion again; the Song of Solomon reveals how!

At My Grandmother’s Table: Heartwarming Stories and Cherished Recipes from the South
This is a beautiful book, not just another cookbook. Author did a wonderful job describing family memories that personalize each recipe. And besides that, the recipes are tasty!
Leaning over the countertop, you watched as she added the flour―just a little at a time―to the bowl of her old, yellow Sunbeam stand mixer. To her, cooking may have been as second nature as setting the table. To you, it seemed almost like magic―the way she skillfully put things together to create the mouthwatering meals and one-of-a-kind desserts you enjoyed at her table. Likely, it’s her culinary delights that have set the bar for everything you’ve eaten since. And let’s face it, her pan fried pork chops and home-baked banana bread make anyone else’s versions pale in comparison. If you find yourself wishing for just a little more time in your grandmother’s kitchen―complete with her stories and the memories of the comforting favorites she lovingly made for you―you’re sure to embrace this celebration of grandmother’s cooking. She’d be proud!

Overrated: Are We More in Love with the Idea of Changing the World Than Actually Changing the World?
I cannot recommend Euguene Cho’s easy-to-read but difficult-to-swallow testament enough!
Eugene Cho has a confession: “I like to talk about changing the world but I don’t really like to do what it takes.” If this is true of the man who founded the One Day’s Wages global antipoverty movement, then what must it take to act on one’s ideals? Cho does not doubt the sincerity of those who want to change the world. But he fears that today’s wealth of resources and opportunities could be creating “the most overrated generation in history. We have access to so much but end up doing so little.” He came to see that he, too, was overrated.
As Christians, Cho writes, “our calling is not simply to change the world but to be changed ourselves.” In Overrated, Cho shows that it is possible to move from talk to action.
Eugene Cho is the founder of One Day’s Wages, a movement working to alleviate extreme global poverty. He is the founder and senior pastor of Quest Church, an urban, multicultural and multigenerational church in Seattle, Washington, where he lives with his family. Cho has been covered in various media including NPR, New York Times, and Seattle Times.

I recommend this book to all readers who have a love for scripture and a yearning for romance. Admittedly, I read the last page through a veil of satisfied tears.
Princess Michal was the youngest daughter of Saul, the first king of Israel. In an age when fathers arranged marriages, Michal dared to fall in love with a handsome young musician named David, from the little town of Bethlehem.
As recounted in the Bible, Michal helped David escape from her insanely jealous father. King Saul punished his daughter with a forced marriage to a distant war lord. Princess Michal unexpectedly returns from seven years of exile to find a changed world. Most of her relatives are dead. David has become King of Judea. He has acquired six additional wives, one of whom is a princess from Geshur. Michal longs to have a son to reign over Israel and reestablish the rule of King Saul’s heirs. But each royal wife has hopes of placing her own son on the throne.
Can Princess Michal’s love for King David survive war, madness, infidelity, and betrayal?

A Time For Healing (Faithful Hearts Collection)
This book is one of those that you can’t put down once you start reading it. My late mom was blind and I read Christian fictions to her daily. Ms. Tumlin’s book is one that I will be recommending to church friends and neighbors, both young and old. I am eager to curl up with my next Tamelia Tumlin book.
A TIME FOR HEALING
As an active church member, veterinarian Jaci Sinclair believes the Christian message that forgiveness is open to all … all except her, that is. Years ago, Jaci made a life-changing mistake, and now she’s sure she doesn’t deserve the one thing she wants most — a family of her own. But when Hunter Grant walks into her life, her world is turned upside-down. Not only does he make her desire a family even more, he shines a lamp on the one thing she refuses to see.
An ex-FBI hostage negotiator, Hunter has lost the thing he treasured the most — his family. Filled with bitterness and anger towards God, Hunter vows never to let anyone close to him again. He moves to Yellow Rose, Texas, trying to forget the tragic deaths of his wife and son — deaths he should have prevented. Wanting to lose himself in the sleepy little town, he is not prepared for the powerful feelings Jaci stirs within him.
When Jaci and Hunter’s worlds collide, they’re forced to face the demons that haunt their pasts and hinder their future together. But for everything there is a season … even a time for healing.
