Give Them Grace (Foreword by Tullian Tchividjian): Dazzling Your Kids with the Love of Jesus

Give Them Grace (Foreword by Tullian Tchividjian): Dazzling Your Kids with the Love of Jesus

Elyse M. Fitzpatrick

Give Them Grace is an encouraging and thought-provoking read.

E. Hankins

How are parents to raise children so they don’t become Pharisees (legalists) or prodigals (rebels)? It’s all about grace-filled, gospel-driven parenting, says the mother/daughter team of Elyse Fitzpatrick and Jessica Thompson. Christian parents, in their desire to raise godly children, can drift toward rule-centered discipline. There is, however, a far more effective method—a grace-motivated approach that begins with the glorious truth of God’s love for sinners.

In Give Them Grace, parents will learn how to connect the benefits of the cross—especially regeneration, adoption, and justification—to their children’s daily lives. Chapters address topics such as our inability to follow the law perfectly, God’s forgiveness and love displayed at the cross, and what true heart obedience looks like. Fitzpatrick and Thompson also discuss discipline, dealing with popular culture, and evangelism as a way of life. Parents will find this book a great resource for raising grace-filled, Jesus-loving kids.

The Beauty of Broken: My Story and Likely Yours Too

The Beauty of Broken: My Story and Likely Yours Too

Elisa Morgan

The beauty of the broken, after all, is in the fact that God puts us back together in a far more whole and far more beautiful way than we could ever make ourselves or others.

Nathan Albright

Find beauty and hope by facing and dealing with the messiness of family life.

The family is an imperfect institution. Broken people become broken parents who make broken families. But actually, broken is normal and exactly where God wants us.

In The Beauty of Broken, Elisa Morgan, one of today’s most respected female Christian leaders, for the first time shares her very personal story of brokenness—from her first family of origin to the second, represented by her husband and two grown children. Over the years, Elisa’s family struggled privately with issues many parents must face, including:

alcoholism and drug addiction
infertility and adoption
teen pregnancy and abortion
divorce, homosexuality, and death

Each story layers onto the next to reveal the brokenness that comes into our lives without invitation. “We’ve bought into the myth of the perfect family,” says Elisa. “Formulaic promises about the family may have originated in well-meaning intentions, but such thinking isn’t realistic. It’s not helpful. It’s not even kind.”

Instead she offers hope in the form of “broken family values” that allow parents to grow and thrive with God. Values such as commitment, humility, relinquishment, and respect carry us to new places of understanding. Owning our brokenness shapes us into God’s best idea for us and enables us to discover the beauty in ourselves and each member of our family.

Forgiving Our Fathers and Mothers: Finding Freedom from Hurt and Hate

Dr. Leslie Leyland Fields

A beautiful look at why we forgive anyone who doesn’t deserve–or necessarily even want–to be forgiven.

carre gardner

Do you struggle with the deep pain of a broken relationshipwith a parent?
Leslie Leyland Fields and Dr. Jill Hubbard invite you towalk with them as they explore the following questions:

What does the Bible say about forgiveness? Why must we forgive at all?
How do we honor those who act dishonorably toward us, especially when thosepeople are as influential as our parents? Can we ever break free from the “sinsof our fathers”?
What does forgiveness look like in the lives of real parents andchildren? Does forgiveness mean I have to let an estranged parent back into mylife? Is it possible to forgive a parent who has passed away?

Improvised: How to create the life you really want.

Improvised: How to create the life you really want.

Robin Konie

Once again, Robin NAILED it! “Improvised” is a beautifully written blueprint that will inspire you to break the chains that are preventing you from living the live of your dreams and propel you into living the one you’re destined for.

Kristen Boucher

Life is not scripted. It’s improvised. Every year more than 40% of Americans set out to improve their lives through New Year Resolutions. But the fact is only 8% of people actually achieve their goals. Unfortunately, traditional approaches to setting and reaching goals forget the complex nature of life. If you have ever felt deflated by your inability to reach your most desired goals, you’re not alone.

It’s time to rethink our approach. After all, life is not a scripted performance. It’s an improvisation. Despite what some of the goal-setting gurus want us to believe, we can’t control every element of our life to realize a static endpoint. But that doesn’t mean you can’t live a life you truly love.

Drawing from the principles of improvisation, Improvised provides a whole new framework by which to create happiness, success, and the life of our dreams. It is your guidebook for transforming the way your approach every aspect of life. Discover true success in business, your relationships, and within your home.

My Life and Lesser Catastrophes: An Unflinchingly Honest Journey of Faith

My Life and Lesser Catastrophes: An Unflinchingly Honest Journey of Faith

Christina Schofield

I have never fell in love with a book so much in my life. I related to and empathized with Christina Schofield’s life in many respects. But she really won me over when I read that she liked Bananarama. Anyone who likes Bananarama is cool in my book!

Pilar Arsenec

Just after her thirteenth wedding anniversary, Christina Schofield woke up groggy and disoriented, surrounded by nurses in a hospital. She and her husband had hit a gravel patch while on their motorcycle and crashed into a ditch. With the exception of a concussion, she was fine. But Allen had broken his neck. He was now a quadriplegic.

With her entire life flipped upside down, she began an astonishing journey of tenacious faith amid increasing doubt. Full of dark, silent hours and a woman’s honest questioning of the God she thought she knew, this is also a story full of miraculous answers to prayer and head-scratching, awe-inspiring encounters with her loving Lord.

With candid warmth and transparency, Christina shows readers that even in their darkest hours, God’s goodness shines through.

How to be a Christian Without Being Religious

How to be a Christian Without Being Religious

Fritz Ridenour

This book has had a profound impact on my understanding of Romans. Twenty years and many Bibles later, I still write in Ridenour’s insights in the margin of Romans. This is a great book and must reading for every Christian.

Robert Wynkoop

Since the days of the early church, Christians have struggled to find a way to be “good”–to please God by their own efforts. They end up carrying a burden God never intended them to bear. And what’s more, their brand of Christianity ends up looking like any other religion of the world–bound by joyless rules and rituals. Fritz Ridenour’s study of the book of Romans provides an antidote to the pharisaical spirit and shows that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship. It is not people reaching up, but God reaching down. All Christians can enjoy their birthright when they realize who they are in Christ. The result is a life full of hope, joy, power, and potential.

Spin (Guarded Book 1)

Spin (Guarded Book 1)

Darcie J. Gudger

This book was excellent! It is so descriptive you feel like you are part of the story, stuck in the insanity of high school right next to Kisrie! I was in tears several times, and just couldn’t put it down until it was done. I unfortunately now have to wait impatiently for the next book! Miss Gudger you rock my socks off! Don’t stop writing!

Tessa

Sophomore Kisrie Kelley longs to fit in. Instead, she’s always been a misfit, a fact her nemesis Wendy won’t let her forget. At least she’s got color guard and photography, right? She almost feels normal when she’s out on the field performing or behind the lens. Truth be told, they’re the only reasons she even shows up at school, though her professor mom thinks they’re both a waste of Kisrie’s time. Add a serious affinity to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups that has her battling the bulge and a pestering “prodigy” little sister who thinks she’s a bush baby, and Kisrie’s contemplating moving to a different planet.

The stakes are raised even higher when she overhears Wendy plotting against Kisrie’s English-teacher uncle all over a stupid grade! Should Kisrie snitch and risk Wendy’s wrath? Ever since elementary school the young beauty queen has bullied Kisrie as if it were an Olympic sport. Who’s going to believe Wendy’s story anyway?

Everything spins out of control as vicious rumors fly and lives are on the line. Only the truth can set them all free, but will it be too late?

I could not put this book down. With a fresh voice, a lot of laughs, and unique characters, Gudger captures the essence of teens and the extraordinary temptations and issues they face. And I want to go spin a flag now.
—KIMBERLEY WOODHOUSE, award-winning author of All Things Hidden, No Safe Haven, Race Against Time, and Denali Dreams

What if all life’s ups and downs aren’t about you? What if the people you’ve known forever live a different life than you’ve imagined? What if God asked you to see your worst enemy through His eyes? Darcie Gudger asks readers these introspective questions via her debut novel, Spin. Readers will identify with many of the usual suspects of high school hallways as they reconsider if the grass really is greener on the other side.
