Welcome to Last Chance (A Place to Call Home Book #1): A Novel
I thought it was a very strong debut novel and will happily read whatever Cathleen Armstrong comes out with next.
Yet in spite of herself, Lainie finds that she is increasingly drawn in to the dramas of small town life. An old church lady who always has room for a stranger. A handsome bartender with a secret life. A single mom running her diner and worrying over her teenage son. Could Lainie actually make a life in this little hick town? Or will the past catch up to her even here in the middle of nowhere?
Cathleen Armstrong pens a debut novel filled with complex, lovable characters making their way through life and relationships the best they can. Her evocative descriptions, observational humor, and talent at rendering romantic scenes will earn her many fans.

The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving is an excellent book to read this Christmas season. Understanding the purpose of gift giving is a tough concept for children young and old (and many adults).

Wings of Promise (Alaskan Skies Book #2): A Novel
This book is about life in the Alaskan territories. It is amazing how much the book tells about this part of the world. It is really interesting, how the people lived there. You read it all while you enjoy the story going through the book about Paul and his wife. I liked reading this book.
Full of high-flying adventure and tender personal moments, Wings of Promise is the exciting second book in the Alaskan Skies series.

Through the Tears (Sandy Cove Series Book 2)
I can recommend Rosemary’s books to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction.
Michelle and her family rejoice when her father begins to regain consciousness after an unsuccessful suicide attempt. But a long journey awaits, as they seek to clear his name of the embezzlement charges that drove him to this desperate act. The days of their vigil at the hospital drag into weeks, and Michelle finds herself repeatedly drawn to the newborn nursery. Observing couples leave with tiny babes in their arms, her heart is stirred, and she begins to yearn for a child of her own. However, an unexpected twist will threaten her new dream.
Through the Tears — the second novel in the Sandy Cove series — delivers a message of hope in the midst of longing and disappointment.

The Disappearances (Sadie’s Montana Book 3)
Just like the first of the series, this book was spell binding. You had to wonder what was going to happen next. Highly recommend.
In fact, soon after she and Mark are settled into the farmhouse which Mark is renovating, she’s visited by three FBI agents who question her about the two children who mysteriously appeared one day at the Ranch. Before the agents leave, they warn Sadie that her beloved horse, Paris, is highly valuable, and that she and Mark may be in grave danger because of Paris.
This news, on top of Mark’s unexpected black moods, leaves Sadie sometimes wishing she could go home, “lay her head on Mam’s shoulder, and ask why she hadn’t warned her.”
But when Sadie is kidnapped at gunpoint by two men in ski masks, her stubborn strength is tested beyond her imagining.
Now Sadie has disappeared, leaving Mark and her family wracked with worry. And Anna, Sadie’s youngest sister, desperate for Neil Hershberger’s attention, refuses to eat, plagued by an eating disorder as she fades away.
And yet, Mark’s younger brother Timothy appears, bringing unexpected life and hope to the family.
Mercifully, healing and courage reappear in unexpected times and places in this concluding volume of the Sadie’s Montana series.

When the Heart Heals (Sisters at Heart Book #2): A Novel
If you haven’t read any of Ann’s books, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of When the Heart Heals. I don’t think you will be sorry if you do
With tenderness and grace, Ann Shorey invites readers back to the town of Noble Springs, Missouri, for an engrossing story of love’s tentative first steps and fragile future in the face of opposition. Readers will find in Rosemary a sympathetic but strong woman determined to thrive in a world that doesn’t always understand.

Merry Humbug Christmas by Sandra Bricker was such a fun book to read. I literally read it in a day because I could not put it down. Told in 2 novellas, the stories follow two best friends as they each have highly unexpected and hilarious Christmas holidays. The book will definitely put you in the Christmas spirit!
In “Once Upon a Jingle Bell,” A Bah! Humbug cruise to the Mexican Riviera is Joss Snow’s answer to this year’s quest to avoid the holidays completely; at least until she’s rebooked on a different kind of cruise altogether. Candy canes, holly wreaths, reindeer and ornaments seem to be stalking her on the 12 Days of Christmas holiday cruise extravaganza. An escape back to land is her only goal . . . until she meets a kindred spirit in rugged Irishman Patrick Brenneman, and then the game is on! Avoid Christmas festivities at all costs . . . except maybe for that one stop under the mistletoe.
In “It Came Upon a Midnight Deer,” Reese’s guilt over abandoning best friend Joss on their holiday tradition of avoiding all things Christmas is trumped by the joy of her recent engagement. Meeting Damian’s family for the first time on idyllic Sugarloaf Mountain is about as far from that Bah! Humbug cruise as she can get, and Reese can hardly wait to get there. But from the moment they hit that deer in the road just two miles from the cabin, everything seems to go wrong. There are no drummers drumming or pipers piping this particular year! And once she sets her future in-laws’ family cabin ablaze, she’s pretty sure there won’t be even ONE golden ring in her future.

I came across this work watching the Borders kitchen interview with Andrea (Immer) Robinson, and they did three dishes which made me purchase this. I’ve tried them so far, and if they are promise of the rest of the collection, this is just outstanding resource for us grillers.

The Loving Kitchen will be loved by both beginners and the experienced cooks. It would make a wonderful gift and I highly recommend. 5 stars.
The Loving Kitchen is a collection of comforting recipes straight from the kitchen of popular food blogger LeAnn Rice.
You know the feeling you get when you’re an overnight guest in someone’s home, and you awaken to a hot-off-the-griddle breakfast? Or when a coworker brings in a pan of her famous brownies to celebrate your recent promotion? Doesn’t it feel great when dinner at the neighbors’ house includes multiple courses of scratch-made recipes and conversation that lingers beyond dessert and that last cup of coffee?
For many of us, these are the moments in which we feel most loved. That’s the idea behind The Loving Kitchen. Get your family’s day started right with LeAnn’s fluffy Pumpkin Spice Pancakes, or a bowl of Almond Coconut Granola and yogurt. Keep your favorite sports fans fueled through the entire game with hearty servings of Hot Sausage and Spinach Dip, or toss together a Grilled Chicken and Berry Salad for lunch with your dearest girlfriends.
Want a signature dinner you can serve on those special occasions? Stuffed Pork Tenderloin with Orange Cranberry Glaze with Creamy Smashed Baby Potatoes is the perfect meal to celebrate a milestone. LeAnn’s sunny narrative and ideas for bringing people together will remind you that the best meal you’ll ever cook is the one you prepare as an act of love.

This is my favorite “diet” book now even though it’s a life style not a diet. And I feel such relief that I can “just eat the food”. Good wholesome, real nutrient densed food!
What if you could lose weight without dieting? Lose weight without excessive exercise, diet pills, or counting calories? What if you didn’t have to go low-carb, low-fat, or low-protein either? Think it’s just a crazy fantasy? Think again! Author DaNelle Wolford is here to share the secret of how she lost 35 pounds and healed her chronic illness in her new book, Have Your Cake and Lose Weight Too! The title says it all: Yes, you can still eat dessert (every day, if you want!) and lose weight naturally, without restriction or sacrifice. The answer lies in revisiting traditional foods that are far more delicious and nutritious than their mass-produced, modern counterparts.
Does Veganism Promote Wellness…or Cancer?
Everyone these days seems to be talking about “plant-based diets,” but are they really as healthy as they’re claimed to be? Wolford looks to the real evidence to find out, instead of relying on hype and hearsay from those with animal rights agendas. You’ll learn the story of the real China Study and why it has nothing to do with the popular – and oft-quoted – book. Find out the truth of whether veganism supports super-wellness…or actually promotes certain types of cancers. Read up on vital nutrients contained only in animal foods and why their plant-based counterparts aren’t ideal for human absorption.
Real Food, Real Nutrition, Real Health
Are all carbs created equal? Is soy really a health food? Which fats should you be eating and why? (Hint: Lard and butter are on the list.) Have Your Cake and Lose Weight Too! is a real food manifesto brought down to earth. Even if you have little experience in the kitchen, this book serves up the most important points of real food, leaving you knowledgeable enough to feel confident without being overwhelmed. With easy-to-read charts and lists, Wolford makes it simple to see which foods are good, better, and best. Finally figure out which fruits and vegetables you need to buy organic and which are okay when conventional. Discover the biggest mistake most people make when transitioning to a real food diet and what you should do instead. You’ll be cooking up real food in no time…and losing weight and feeling healthier by the day!

Precious Moments: My Christmas Bible Storybook
I bought this for my Grand-nephew, who is just months old, for his first Christmas. It is a perfect first bible for new baby or toddler. Has nice illustrations and short stories that are easy to understand.

Children look forward to Christmas all year long, but they need to know that its true meaning is about much more than decorating cookies and opening gifts. It’s about the greatest Gift of all! These sweet stories, songs, prayers, and scriptures are combined with charming illustrations from Precious Moments® to help your child understand and celebrate the wonders of Jesus’ birth.

This is the most beautiful story I’ve ever read. Whether it’s Christmas time or the fourth of July, I love reading this book with my younger relatives. It tells the story of the candy cane with so much emphasis on Jesus. Christmas has become very materialistic to children, but books like this put things in perspective. It takes an ordinary candy and makes it a symbol for Jesus- his death and his purity. This is my all time favorite childrens book.

Remember Me When: A Women of Hope Novel
Ms. Aiken has also done a marvelous job of bringing the Biblical story of Abigail to a Western community. Faith, Nathan and the other characters play out so well on the pages you would think you had known them all your life. “Remember Me When” is a great read that I was sorry to see come to an end. I am so looking forward to more in this series from Ms. Aiken.
