The Ultimate Book of Bible Stories for Children

Children love stories. Don’t they? Why not teach them the teachings of the Bible through the ‘True Stories’ of the Bible. The premise of Bible For Kids is that children grow to be the adults that their childhood has shaped them to be. My mother read to be when I was young. I got all the nursery rhymes, fairy tales, myths, legends, and Bible stories that were a part of her childhood. I am thankful that I was exposed to this rich, ethical background. In this Kids Bible, I share the beloved stories of my childhood in hopes that other children will be blessed with this same rich culture and set of beliefs.

Bible Stories in the Book

Bible For Kids shares the stories of Jesus’ birth, death and rebirth in language young children can understand. Also included are Biblical favorites like:
* Joseph’s Coat of Many Colors
* The Story of Ruth, Daniel in the Lion’s Den
* Noah Builds an Ark
* Jesus turns the water into wine
* Jesus’ walk on water
* Parable of The Prodigal Son
* The Seeds and
* The Lost Sheep
* Much More Inside

Makes Bedtime Even Better with Follow-Up Activities

For the parent who uses these stories as bedtime reading or the teacher of young children who shares them with her class, each of the thirty-one stories and parables contains several follow up activities. The varied projects include links to videos, songs including YouTube presentations, writing and art suggestions of various lengths. Adults may select among the activities, do them all before moving on or choose to do none of them.

Lacy's Life

Lacy’s Life

Patricia Strefling

It is a great Christian romance, with insights into the terrible tragedy of human trafficking. Ms Strefling was able to include God’s plan of redemption and the joys of submitting to His will. I found this to be an interesting and “clean” romance, suitable for teens and up.

BGFinley

Lacy Lee Linden’s world has changed dramatically in the last year. She is happier than she’s ever been.

Days after Thad Gannon’s unexpected proposal he is called away for a family emergency. He calls at first and then the calls stop coming.

Old, familiar doubts come rushing back. She has new purpose in her life with Kew and Ting, but the fact that Thad has not called for weeks forces the question: What if he never comes back?

Will she be able to push past her old fears of never being good enough? Will she have enough courage to walk on whether Thad Gannon comes back, or if she never sees him again?

Lead Me Home (Winds of Change)

Lead Me Home (Winds of Change)

Stacy Hawkins Adams

I read a previous series and this one is just as good. Her books are based on good spiritual principles.

Cecelia

Shiloh Griffin has no identity outside of her roles as pastor’s wife and mom. Some days that is enough. But not always. Particularly when she is partnered with the always confident, always gracious Jade Smith on a church ministry project. Rather than shying away from God in her nervousness, Shiloh clings to Him, seeking every day to redeem herself. When an opportunity arises for her to teach music at a local high school, she thinks maybe it’s just the thing to give her more significance.

Then Shiloh begins mentoring Monica, a fifteen-year-old student. When Monica learns she is pregnant, Shiloh must confront her own darkest secret in the desperate decision facing the teen. If she turns away, this teen’s life—and her soul—could be in jeopardy. If she decides to stand up and help, she knows she’s the one who risks losing everything.

Stacy Hawkins Adams’s second book in the Winds of Change series finds Shiloh at a life-changing crossroads: keep her halo intact, or lose her honor to save the girl’s.

“Elegantly emotional and intriguing, the story reaches deep to gently touch the soul.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

The

The “What’s for Dinner?” Solution

Kathi Lipp

I’m impressed with Kathi Lipp’s book, What’s for Dinner. Ms. Lipp isn’t trying to make me LOVE cooking. Her book doesn’t try to convince me to keep on-hand things such as capers. Her plan is straight-forward and simple.

Lavish Bookshelf

For many women, dread turns to panic around 4:00 in the afternoon. That’s when they have to answer that age-old question, “What’s for dinner?” Many resort to another supermarket rotisserie chicken or—worse yet—ordering dinner through a drive-thru intercom.

In The “What’s for Dinner” Solution, popular author and speaker Kathi Lipp provides a full-kitchen approach for getting dinner on the table every night. After putting her 21-day plan into action, women will

save time—with bulk shopping and cooking
save money—no more last-minute phone calls to the delivery pizza place
save their sanity—forget the last-minute scramble every night and know what they’re having for dinner

The book includes real recipes from real women, a quick guide to planning meals for a month, the best shopping strategies for saving time and money, and tips on the best ways to use a slow cooker, freezer, and pantry.

With Kathi’s book in hand, there’s no more need to hit the panic button.

The Mystery of History, Volume I Quarter 1: Creation to the Resurrection

The Mystery of History, Volume I Quarter 1: Creation to the Resurrection

Linda Lacour Hobar

Love these History books! We have gone through the first 3 and have just ordered Volume IV (American History). My children have learned so much and retained more than they usually do!

Shantelle

CHRONOLOGICAL, CHRISTIAN, and COMPLETE
A World History Curriculum for All Ages
The Mystery of History, Volume I (Second Edition), spans “Creation to the Resurrection” (c. 4004 b.c.–c. a.d. 33) and provides a historically accurate, Bible-based approach to learning ancient world history. By incorporating hands-on activities along with reading, writing, and research projects, The Mystery of History offers something for all learning styles and supports all methods of education.

Chronological — Beginning with Creation, The Mystery of History four-volume series presents world history in chronological order, covering the nations of China, Egypt, Greece, India, Israel, Persia, Rome, and more. Of great significance, Volume I weaves “Bible history” and “world history” together in a unique and meaningful way. For example, on the same timeline you will see these Bible characters near their world-famous contemporaries: Joshua and King Tut; Daniel and Aesop; Ezekiel and Buddha; Nehemiah and Socrates, and many more.

Christian — The Mystery of History is distinctly written from a Christian worldview. Creation-based, Christ-centered, and standing on the authoritative Word of God, lessons in The Mystery of History are like fragments of a mosaic that, when put together, reveal a much bigger picture and tell a much larger story. From Noah, Abraham, and Moses, to Nebuchadnezzar, Artaxerxes, and Augustus Caesar, the Lord has been at work to reveal Himself to mankind through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Complete — Divided into thirty-six weeks of study, The Mystery of History, Volume I, is easy to use for one student at home, ten in a co-op, or hundreds in a school. Reading three lessons a week, students and teachers can implement any of the following components contained in this volume to make this a complete, easily customized course in ancient times.

Ebook Edition: Each quarter of The Mystery of History, Volume I is sold separately and contains the lesson text found in the paperback version. To make a complete curriculum, you should also use the Companion Guide (available from www.BrightIdeasPress.com) which contains:
—The Companion Weekly Pretests
—Hands-on and Research Activities for Younger, Middle, and Older Students
—“Memory Cards” (student-made flashcards)

—Cumulative Quizzes, Exercises, and Games
—Quarterly Worksheets
—Semester Tests
—Lists of “Supplemental Books and Resources” (divided by topic, lesson, and age level)

Julia's Hope

Julia’s Hope

Leisha Kelly

What a wonderful book by a new author. I picked this book up at the library on a whim and loved it. The book tells the story of a woman who despite everything that happens to her and her family continues to have faith and hope that all will work out for the best.

A Customer

Like countless others in 1931, Samuel Wortham lost his job. And he lost his wife’s inheritance, their home, and much of his self-respect. Samuel, his wife, Julia, and their two young children hitchhike from Pennsylvania to Illinois in hope of work. Caught on the road by a sudden storm, the Worthams take shelter in an abandoned farmhouse out of desperation.

Feeling oddly at home, Julia insists on finding the owner of the property, despite Samuel’s objections, and asks for permission to stay. The owner is Emma Graham, a woman in her eighties who longs for home but can no longer live by herself. Emma and the Worthams work out a plan to live there together and restore the farm. Samuel struggles with not being able to provide for his family, and Julia and the kids confront unpleasant surprises when a busybody neighbor turns against them.

Julia’s Hope is an endearing story of faith and faithfulness as Emma teaches the Worthams to live fully, give generously, and love unconditionally. She insists that the family grow where they are planted, like the garden they tend, and each member of the family is forever changed by her wisdom.

The Master Quilter: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel (The Elm Creek Quilts Book 6)

The Master Quilter: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel (The Elm Creek Quilts Book 6)

Jennifer Chiaverini

I loved Jennifer Chiaverini’s latest Elm Creek Quilts novel.

Kirsten Wallevand

The Master Quilter opens with the sound of wedding bells ringing in the ears of the Elm Creek Quilters. The close-knit group can hardly believe that their own Sylvia Compson planned her holiday wedding to sweetheart Andrew in complete secrecy, without the help of even one of her friends. Eager to honor the newlyweds, the Elm Creek Quilters hasten to stitch a bridal quilt for their favorite Master Quilter. Until the time comes to unveil the surprise gift, they reason, Sylvia will be the one in the dark.
Such little white lies seem harmless enough, especially in the service of future happiness. Yet Elm Creek Manor, and the quilting retreat established there by the Elm Creek Quilters, thrives on the strength of women sharing their creativity, their challenges, and their dreams. Somehow, in the race to commemorate in Sylvia’s bridal quilt all that they hold dear about her wisdom, skill, and devotion, they forget to give honesty its pride of place.
As the quilt blocks accumulate, the Elm Creek Quilters celebrate the joy of new beginnings and the ongoing success of their business — until forces conspire to threaten their happiness and prosperity. Two among them falter in their personal relationships, yet they are too proud to share their pain. The financial problems of another leave the quilt project vulnerable to a malicious act that may prevent its completion. And as two others weigh the comfort of the present against dreams of a future far from Elm Creek Manor, closely guarded secrets strain the bonds of friendship with those who may be left behind.
The Dallas Morning News has praised the Elm Creek Quilts series as “classics of their kind,” and The Master Quilter is Chiaverini’s latest gift to readers.

A Lady in Defiance (Romance in the Rockies)

A Lady in Defiance (Romance in the Rockies)

Heather Blanton

I truly enjoyed A Lady in Defiance. I felt that I had stepped back in time with the characters. It is an easy read and I did not want to put it down. This is my first read from this author and I look forward to any thing else that she may publish. I like this kind of historical fiction/Christian fiction.

L. Carter

HIS TOWN. HER GOD. LET THE BATTLE BEGIN.

Charles McIntyre owns everything and everyone in the lawless, godless mining town of Defiance. When three good, Christian sisters from his beloved South show up stranded, alone, and offering to open a “nice” hotel, he is intrigued enough to let them stay…especially since he sees feisty middle sister Naomi as a possible conquest. But Naomi, angry with God for widowing her, wants no part of Defiance or the saloon-owning, prostitute-keeping Mr. McIntyre. It would seem however, that God has gone to elaborate lengths to bring them together. The question is, “Why?” Does God really have a plan for each and every life?

Written with gritty, but not gratuitous, realism uncharacteristic of historical Christian fiction, A Lady in Defiance gives a nod to both Pride and Prejudice and Redeeming Love. The story, based on true events, is an “ensemble” piece that deftly weaves together the relationships of the three sisters and the rowdy residents of Defiance. INCLUDES BONUS MATERIAL! Get a sneak-peek at the sequel, Hearts in Defiance!
