A warm and moving story about Captain Joe Townsend who not only overcomes what would seem to have been an impossible set of circumstances, he thrives. And it’s also a lesson that brings home the point that you never know what amazing new directions your life can take when you say hello to the person in the seat next to you on an airplane flight!
Overview – and how this book is different!
The purpose of Soul Survivor is to tell the real life story of Joe Townsend, who was flying one day with his family and due to mechanical failure – the small plane he was piloting crashed- killing Joe’s wife and two small daughters. Why Your Weirdness Is Wonderful: Embrace Your Quirks and Live Your Strengths
I like this book. It really helped me understand why I have the quirky traits I do and how to use them for God’s glory. This book has also helped me appreciate the quirks in others. I am learning that, rather than be irritated, I want to embrace their weirdness and watch how God is using it. If you want to understand your weirdness and be more loving toward your weird friends, read this book.
What if who you are right now is exactly who God meant you to be? What if the weirdest, most annoying things about you are actually—for a purpose?
Often we lament about how we relate to God and to the world. We over-think things, worry too much, put things off, argue too much, talk too much, or any number of other griefs. We fight who we are and beg God to make us different.
But what if our greatest strength, biggest gift, and most potential is hidden in the very thing we seek to hide from the rest of the world: our weirdness?
In Why Your Weirdness Is Wonderful, author and certified life coach Laurie Wallin reveals strategies for anyone struggling to find a calling or to find and live their dream. It teaches us to stop fighting ourselves and start following God, not just in spite of, but by embracing our “weirdness.

EICHER did not disappoint in this new book. I have come to really appreciate and love this author’s books. It has only been about 8 months that I have been reading books by this author. But, now I am a devoted fan. I would highly recommend this book, to all those that love “Amish Fiction”. Great read with awesome characters. You won’t regret reading.

Raising Cain: How the Bible Shapes the Things You Say
Don’t judge this book by its cover because you might think it’s about raising kids. The subtitle “How the Bible Shapes the Things You Say” actually explains what’s inside. Each term or phrase is listed alphabetically, easy to look up, and gives insights into many of the words we use today. This is great resource for pastors and those who love to go deeper into Bible study.
Even in a secular, post-Christian age the imprint of the Bible, and especially the King James Version, is pervasive and profound. A distinguished professor of literature has said, “the King James Version of the Bible is the most influential English book ever printed.” Its themes have influenced the arts, constitutions, laws, and everyday language.
In Raising Cain. Dr. Wayne Harvey provides fascinating documen- tation of the echoes of the King James Bible on the tongues of and in the writings of 21st century English speakers.
His entry on “Raising Cain” shows how this treasury of biblical expressions works:
Raise Cain (See also “Cain and Abel” and “Cain, Mark of”)
To create a disturbance. One sense of raise in old English is to conjure up. To raise Cain is to bring up or express the spirit of Cain.
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him (Genesis 4:5-7).

Anyone who cares about Christian higher education must have this book!
The calling of Christian higher education is to reflect the life of Christ and to shine the light of truth. That distinctive mission cannot be forced into an either/or framework but rather a both/and calling. It is a commitment to Jesus Christ himself, who is both fully God and fully human and who for Christian educators is both light and life.
This multi-authored volume, with dynamic contributions from entry-level faculty members to seasoned scholars, explores the question of the Christian faith’s place on the university campus, whether in administrative matters, the broader academic world, or in student life.
Philosophy, Sociology, Science, Arts, Business, Media; Faith and Learning explores how significant Christian thinkers have addressed such topics and their related issues throughout the history of the church. The historical, theological, and biblical framework will help students interact with and engage contemporary challenges to the Christian faith in the various fields of study and inquiry.
