I can’t even remember the last book that brought tears to my eyes, but this book didn’t just make me misty-eyed…it made me weep! It is so full of beauty, truth, and wisdom. I can’t imagine anyone, young or old, male or female, whatever religious beliefs or background, not loving this inspiring tale. Austin weaves incredibly real characters together with history, creating a story that has meaning even in our modern, every day life. A true “must read!”

The Business Idea Factory: A World-Class System for Creating Successful Business Ideas
This book really encourages you to unlock the true power of your own ideas! The $100 hour exercise really did get me generating some great ideas…before reading this book I would have discarded most of the ideas deeming them as too unrealistic or unobtainable, but Andrii has really taught me that the only thing that makes our ideas unobtainable is our own pessimistic outlook.

BBQ USA: 425 Fiery Recipes from All Across America
I enjoyed this book, not only for the great food recipes but the great stories and history presented. If I were stuck on a deserted island with just my Weber and Raichlen’s books on BBQ, I wouldn’t want to be rescued.
In 450 recipes covering every state as well as Canada and Puerto Rico, BBQ USA celebrates the best of regional live-fire cooking. Finger-lickin’ or highfalutin; smoked, rubbed, mopped, or pulled; cooked in minutes or slaved over all through the night, American barbecue is where fire meets obsession. There’s grill-crazy California, where everything gets fired up – dates, Caesar salad, lamb shanks, mussels. Latin-influenced Florida, with its Chimichurri Game Hens and Mojo-Marinated Pork on Sugar Cane. Maple syrup flavors the grilled fare of Vermont; Wisconsin throws its kielbasa over the coals; Georgia barbecues Vidalias; and Hawaii makes its pineapples sing. Accompanying the recipes are hundreds of tips, techniques, sidebars, and pit stops. It’s a coast-to-coast extravaganza, from soup (grilled, chilled, and served in shooters) to nuts (yes, barbecued peanuts, from Kentucky).

The Paleo Slow Cooker: Healthy, Gluten-free Meals the Easy Way
Full of gorgeous illustrations. Recipes are not complicated, and do not seem to be expensive to make. This is a keeper. I am in the habit of downloading recipes from the internet, but think I will try this book for a while!
The Paleo diet has been the latest health movement, taking the low carb diet a step further by eliminating grains and legumes and eating only lean, grass-fed meat. In short they consume only what was available to ancient humans or cavemen. The theory says that by eating what human bodies were designed to eat, people will be healthier, have fewer illnesses and lose weight. In many cases, Paleo diet consumers are also fueling their P90X or Cross Fit exercise routines, the two most popular fitness regimes in the country. The health benefits have been supported by major studies. This is a popular trend much like the low carb diet. It is combined with the great bookselling topic of slow cooking. While the cavemen didn’t have slow cookers, they certainly used slow cooking techniques over fires which make the meals in this book one step closer to the origins and theory behind the diet. The delicious dishes are as homey as they are healthy—and ready when you are.

Catalyst Leader’s greatest strength is that it is very practical. If you’re looking for an immediately applicable, accessible leadership book, look no further.
“Your legacy, regardless of where you are in your leadership journey, starts now. Leading well now means finishing well later.” – Brad Lomenick
We need great leaders. More than ever we need authentic, collaborative, inspiring men and women of integrity at the helm of society- and too often our leaders fall short. Some focus on personal success, alienating those they lead. Others shift their principles when it is convenient.
There is a better way. You can energize and inspire the people around you. You can equip a team of principled collaborators to answer God’s calling. You can be a catalyst leader.
In The Catalyst Leader, Brad Lomenick describes the skills and principles that define a true change maker. This book offers eight key essentials by which a leader can influence others and make a difference, laying out the path to the keys for becoming an effective leader.
Lomenick shares wisdom, practical knowledge, and stories of success and failure from his own journey of running Catalyst, one of America’s most influential leadership movements. And the lives of dozens of leaders around the world- from the creators of famous reality show to pastors, from ranch workers to a Silicon Valley designer. These men and women are living proof that good leadership inspires and innovates, while poor leadership leaves us with hopelessness and regret.

Annie’s Christmas Wish: Quilts of Lancaster County| Book 4
There is so much woven throughout this story, close net family ties which shows their love for each other, friction between some of the characters and how they deal with it or not deal with it, important decisions to make, relying on God to guide them in those decisions and so much more. I enjoyed catching up on Jenny, Matthew and Annie’s story.
But others aren’t as thrilled with Annie’s lure to the Big Apple. Aaron has long been attracted to Annie and is sure he’s in love. As he watches her engage in big city life, he grows concerned that she won’t want to return to their quieter life. Will Annie follow Aaron back home? Or stay and pursue her dreams? Competing for her attention, Aaron sets out to show Annie that Christmas isn’t about the glitz and glamour, but about family, love, and the birth of Jesus.

So I opened the book and from the first sentence I was hooked. It’s a simple story of a woman who’s reaching the end of her life but has one last project in her: a quilt. I don’t know if the story had a deeper effect on me because I see myself rapidly approaching that age or not. But even young people will be touched by the message of the quilt.
The Quilt is the story of Mary, an elderly grandmother whose gnarled, arthritic hands have a beauty all their own. They represent so many skills, so many memories, so many stories to be told. Anyone who had met Mary described her as beautiful–she had always been there to listen and comfort and encourage those who were in pain, those who had lost their way. And yet in the twilight of her days, Mary felt a gentle yearning in her heart, the whisper of a melody she strained to hear…. There was something left undone. When Mary becomes convinced that the task still unfinished is to make one more very special quilt, with every stitch sewn in prayer and thankfulness, the impact on her family and the surrounding community cannot be contained. No one who gets involved with this quilting project will ever be quite the same again!

Simple Faith (The Peacemakers)
Readers of historical fiction will like this novel. There is lots of adventure, several periods of suspense, and some romance thrown in. I also found it interesting to become more familiar with Anja’s Quaker faith. A very good novel of the World War II era.

The Unveiling: Book One (Age of Faith 1)
Yeah, I couldn’t put it down; SERIOUSLY!!! If you like Christian novels and you like medieval settings, then you will love The Unveiling! It is full of action, revenge, mysteries that need unraveling, and yeah, there is romance too! Ms. Leigh has a way with words because everything flowed beautifully. The characters had distinct personalities and I found myself sympathizing with each main character at certain points. The “lessons” that were taught by Wulfrith to Annyn were priceless and I loved how they were turned around in the end! I am so excited this is going to be a series because this book was awesome! A nice thing to note is that this is NOT a cliffhanger! They drive me nuts! A fabulous read, The Unveiling is a five star book!
For four years, Lady Annyn Bretanne has trained at arms with one end in mind—to avenge her brother’s murder as God has not deemed it worthy to do. Disguised as a squire, she sets off to exact revenge on a man known only by his surname, Wulfrith. But when she holds his fate in her hands, her will wavers and her heart whispers that her enemy may not be an enemy after all.
Baron Wulfrith, renowned trainer of knights, allows no women within his walls for the distraction they breed. What he never expects is that the impetuous young man sent to train under him is a woman who seeks his death—nor that her unveiling will test his faith and distract the warrior from his purpose.
