God Less America: Real Stories From the Front Lines of the Attack on Traditional Values

God Less America: Real Stories From the Front Lines of the Attack on Traditional Values

Todd Starnes

One of the best books I have read in a long time. Mr. Starnes uses humor mixed with hard facts to show where this great country is headed. Wake up, America!

Donna J. Hughes

Pay attention, people of faith. Dark clouds are gathering. The winds of intolerance are blowing. There’s a great storm approaching.

American Christians are facing uncertain times. Our nation’s values are under assault. Religious liberty has been undermined. We live in a day when right is now wrong and wrong is now right. The vicious leftwing attack against the recent traditional marriage stance of Chick-fil-A should serve as a wakeup call to people of faith. It’s not about a chicken sandwich. It’s about religious liberty. It’s about free speech. It’s about the future of our nation.

As a reporter covering the culture war for FOX News, Todd Starnes is on the front lines of these attacks against traditional values. In God Less America, he uses both recent news stories and compelling interviews with today’s top conservative leaders to bring to light what is happening across our country. In his award-winning, satire-meets-serious writing style, he strikes an important blow in today’s culture wars.

Good News for Anxious Christians: Ten Practical Things You Don't Have to Do

Good News for Anxious Christians: Ten Practical Things You Don’t Have to Do

Phillip Cary

This book isn’t what I expected. It was far more. If you’re looking for a good example of stealth-mode gospel-centered teaching, this is it. You may find yourself less anxious, and more enraptured with the beauty of Christ, who truly is everything that we need.

Darryl Dash

Like a succession of failed diet regimens, the much-touted techniques that are supposed to bring us closer to God “in our hearts” can instead make us feel anxious, frustrated, and overwhelmed. How can we meet and know God with ongoing joy rather than experiencing the Christian life as a series of guilt-inducing disappointments?

Phillip Cary explains that knowing God is a gradual, long-term process that comes through the Bible experienced in Christian community, not a to-do list designed to help us live the Christian life “right.” This clearly written book covers ten things Christians don’t have to do to be close to God, such as hear God’s voice in their hearts, find God’s will for their lives, and believe their intuitions are the Holy Spirit. Cary skillfully unpacks the riches of traditional Christian spirituality, bringing the real good news to Christians of all ages.

A Woman's Wisdom: How the Book of Proverbs Speaks to Everything

A Woman’s Wisdom: How the Book of Proverbs Speaks to Everything

Lydia Brownback

Wow what an awesome book! I loved every page and will be reading this book again and again. There is so much to learn and it is very easy to understand. The author, Lydia Brownback, does an excellent job making this a definite read for every woman. We all need wisdom in different areas of our lives. This book will show you that by understanding Christ, we will better understand the principles He is teaching in the book of Proverbs.

Irene’s Christian Reviews

Advice books are no short-lived trend. They continue to top bestseller lists even though much of the “wisdom” being offered proves shallow in the long run. People are looking for practical, proven advice for life and the book of Proverbs is the wisest place to start.

Unpacking the book of Proverbs, Lydia Brownback shows how the Bible speaks to real life issues such as money, purity, marriage, and the day-to-day grind. Writing with a familiar yet knowledgeable tone, Brownback draws in the busiest of readers and asks realistic questions for personal reflection or group study. This well-conceived, twelve chapter book contains three parts:

What Is Wisdom and Why Does It Matter?
Six Things Wise Women Know
A Portrait of Wisdom

A Woman’s Wisdom gives women—a way to be wise, to know the very Author of wisdom, and to understand how to apply his relevant, riches.

The Minute Boys of Lexington

The Minute Boys of Lexington

Edward Stratemeyer

This is a very nice book; I liked it so much that I read it in under a week.Edward Stratmeyer, the author, is a very good writer. I believe he is trying to show in this book how valiantly the minutemen of the Revolution fought for our rights that we now enjoy today.

A Kid’s Review

Written by Edward Stratemeyer, creator of the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series.

“As Roger hurried along, as fast as his tired limbs would permit, he felt in his pocket to learn if the packet the dead British lieutenant had given him was safe. It was still where he had placed it, and now, to make sure that it would not slip out and become lost, he pinned the pocket shut.

It would have been foolhardy to have risked his life in the neighbourhood of the highway, where a desultory firing was being kept up for the distance of half a mile at one time. He struck directly into the woods, over rocks and small brush, until, quarter of an hour later, he reached an old trail, which led, in a roundabout course, to the confines of the homestead farm.

Roger was both hungry and thirsty, having had scarcely a mouthful since early morning. Coming to the brook again, he procured a drink, and at the same time made up his mind to get something to satisfy the cravings of his stomach, as soon as the house could be reached.

The trail, under the trees and down in a hollow, was gloomy and uncertain, and he moved along with caution, for fear of a nasty tumble or another surprise by the enemy. The sound of distant firing in the direction of his home told him that the conflict was not yet at an end around the place.

A half mile had been covered, and he was moving along with increased confidence, when a crashing in the brush ahead brought him to an abrupt halt. He listened intently, but the crashing ceased almost immediately.

What was it he had heard? Eagerly he asked himself the question. Was it man or beast, friend or foe?”

The Leopard Tree

The Leopard Tree

Tim Merriman, Lisa Brochu

This book gripped me from the beginning and stirred my mind and heart. It may inspire you to find your own way “to be the change you want to see.”

Nancy Bernard

Three orphans from Kenya stow away on an airplane to embark on a desperate quest to meet the Secretary General of the United Nations in New York City and deliver a message they hope will help millions of homeless and hurting children in Africa. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz becomes their guidebook as they journey alone across the United States. The trio–one with HIV, one blind amputee, and one who hasn’t spoken for years after watching her family slaughtered–find themselves embroiled in a situation beyond their imaginations as they get close to meeting their goal.

The Leopard Tree won the Best Young Adult Fiction Award in 2008 with Writer’s Digest International Self-published Competition and a Third Place EVVY in the Fiction Division of Colorado Independent Publisher’s Awards in 2008. This book was written with the hope of raising awareness of the millions of people in Africa who suffer the effects of malnutrition, malaria, HIV/AIDS, and the unspeakable atrocities associated with armed conflicts.

Lisa Brochu and Tim Merriman have spent the last four decades helping people connect with our global natural and cultural heritage. This is their first work of adult fiction, but they have several other non-fiction books in print. Through their books and speaking engagements, they hope to help others to know more and do more about the daily challenges in meeting basic needs that face tens of millions of people in developing nations. When they are not traveling the globe, Tim and Lisa live in Fort Collins, Colorado, on a small farm where they raise much of their own food. Wish I'd Known You Tears Ago (Horse Dreams Trilogy)

Wish I’d Known You Tears Ago (Horse Dreams Trilogy)

Stephen Bly

Love this book. Love the Author. Great purchase. This is one of my favorite Authors. Finding this book at such a great deal was wonderful.

Kathy Gibson

In this closing book of the Horse Dreams trilogy, soul-searching Indiana schoolteacher Develyn Worrell has finally found her groove. Ready to savor the end of summer in a small Wyoming town she once visited as a child, she settles in for a time of peace and contentment. That is, until her daughter pays a visit, an eclectic friend plans to marry, a suspicious stranger enters the picture, and a dear mentor suffers a heart attack. Such confusion would be overwhelming, except for the steady friendship of Cooper Tallon. He may lack the charm and flash of other cowboys, but always seems to have just what Develyn’s heart needs. And with her trust in the Lord still growing, she looks forward to whatever follows.

Hidden Places: A Novel

Hidden Places: A Novel

Lynn Austin

I absolutely loved this book! This is the second book by Lynn Austin that I have read and she definitely is an author I will buy in the future. Austin adds many twists and turns to her stories (to keep you guessing) and also spreads a message of hope and reconciliation. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a family story and loves the historical slant.

Jennifer Grant

But she has no idea how to run an orchard alone. When a stranger appears at her doorstep, Eliza guesses he is no different than the other out-of-luck characters searching for work during the Depression. But the familiarity with which Gabe tends to the farm raises unanswered questions. With a vulnerable heart, she is unwittingly drawn to his gentle ways. But Eliza also fears that Gabe hides a past and motives that could jeopardize all she has fought to attain for herself and her children….This Christy-Award winning novel is now a Hallmark Channel Original Movie!
