Conflicted Hearts: A Daughter’s Quest for Solace from Emotional Guilt
It is a book that makes you think, reflect, understand and most of all it is a book that shows you that with the right attitude and beliefs, you can forgive and move forward. I loved it!
A Lifetime of guilt — What does it take to finally break free?
Somehow I believed it was my obligation to try to do the right thing by her because she had given birth to me.
Burdened with constant worry for her father and the guilt caused by her mother’s narcissism, D.G. Kaye had a short childhood. When she moved away from home at age eighteen, she began to grow into herself, overcoming her lack of guidance and her insecurities. Her life experiences became her teachers, and she learned from the mistakes and choices she made along the way, plagued by the guilt she carried for her mother.
Conflicted Hearts is a heartfelt journey of self-discovery and acceptance, an exploration of the quest for solace from emotional guilt.

I have all of Happy Herbivore’s cookbooks, but this may be my favorite! Like all of Lindsay’s cookbooks, this is a plant based, no oil, low fat, quick-meals cookbook. The twist with this one is that it’s geared to folks who might want to lose weight or achieve certain calorie targets, although the food is healthy and delicious even if you aren’t. All of the meals are ginormous and filling and low calorie, even more so than her other books, which still had a lot of lean in them!
Like all Happy Herbivore cookbooks, Happy Herbivore Light & Lean contains filling, flavorful, plant-based recipes that take 30 minutes or less to prepare. But this time, Nixon takes healthy to an all-new level, with low-calorie, satisfying meals that will help you achieve your weight-loss goals—and without deprivation.
True to its title, Happy Herbivore Light & Lean also includes “recipes” for your body with basic workouts, plus tips and tricks that will inspire you to move more for a trimmer, more-toned you. As always, Happy Herbivore Light & Lean recipes are free from oils, processed foods, and diet chemicals such as artificial sweeteners.
Happy Herbivore Light & Lean keeps it healthy, keeps it simple, and keeps it delicious.

Stranded (Alaskan Courage Book #3)
Overall, Stranded was a fantastic read that I loved! I can’t wait to read Silenced (which I’m hoping is Kayden’s story) when it releases. If you enjoy romantic suspense, then I most definitely recommend Stranded, but you might want to read Submerged and Shattered first, that way you’ll know the McKenna history.
Darcy St. James returns to Alaska to join a journalist friend undercover on the trail of a big story. But when Darcy arrives, she finds her friend has disappeared. Troubled by the cruise ship’s vague explanation, Darcy uses her cover as a travel reporter to investigate further.
The last person Gage McKenna expects to see during his summer aboard a cruise ship leading adventure excursions is Darcy. And in typical Darcy fashion, she’s digging up more trouble.
He’d love to just forget her–but something won’t let him. And he can’t help but worry about her as they are heading into more remote regions of Alaska and eventually into foreign waters. Something sinister is going on, and the deeper they push, the more Gage fears they’ve only discovered the tip of the iceberg.
“The third book in Pettrey’s Alaskan Courage series ratchets up the action and suspense. It’s difficult to stop yourself from peeking ahead to the end, but the ride is worth the anxiety.” –RT Book Reviews
“Dani Pettrey has delivered another incredibly compelling adventure in Alaska. STRANDED is full of suspense, beautiful rugged wilderness and white-water rapids, and a heartfelt romance. I loved catching up with the McKenna family.” – Dee Henderson, New York Times bestselling author

Hatteras Girl (Heart of Carolina Book #3)
Have you ever read a book that you just never wanted to end? Usually by the time I get to the end of a book, even one that I have really enjoyed, I am ready to finish it and move on. But, as I saw the end of Hatteras Girl coming, I did not want it to be over. Alice Wisler has an amazing ability to create a story that touches me more than any other author I have ever read, and I read a lot
There’s one specific property Jackie dreams of purchasing: the Bailey Place, a fabulous old home where Jackie spent many happy childhood afternoons, a place that has now fallen into disrepair because of its outrageous price tag. When Jackie meets handsome Davis Erickson, who holds the key to the Bailey Place, Jackie is sure God has answered both her prayers. But as Jackie learns some disturbing details about Davis’s past, she begins to question her own motivation. Will she risk her long-held dreams to find out the truth?

I have never read a book by Irene Hannon that was not suspenseful. I had no idea that she had a history of writing contemporary romance novels, too. I must say that I was quite impressed with how she is able to write so well in both genres. She seems incredibly comfortable to write in two completely different styles of writing. I liked her before, but I like her even more now and am looking forward to her next romance novel coming out in the summer of 2014.
Reunited in their hometown, Karen and Val must grapple with their past mistakes, their relationship with each other, and their issues with a mother who is far from ideal. When a physical therapist raising his daughter alone and a handsome but hurting musician enter the picture, the summer takes on a whole new dimension. As their lives intersect and entwine, can each learn how to forgive, how to let go, and how to move on? And strengthened by the healing power of faith, might they also find the courage to love?
With her trademark compelling characters and heartwarming hope, fan favorite Irene Hannon offers her readers an inspiring true-to-life tale of complex family relationships, transgressions revealed and forgiven, and the complicated process of finding love.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Just a Little Faith. The author’s obvious talent in character development and storytelling shine through this story of the ups and downs of life as she displays how “just a little faith” can see us through the good times and the bad. As with many well-written stories, I didn’t want to put this one down until I had finished it. I highly recommend it! (I’m also hoping the author will write more in the near future – maybe even a sequel?)
Paxson Taylor’s recent relocation to St. Louis leads her to a life different from what she’s experienced in the past. Through her work with a small charity, she meets and attracts the attention of professional baseball player, Sebastian Quinn. Flattered, Pax tempers her desire for the handsome playboy with her need to serve her God—a God Seb doesn’t believe exists. Through unspeakable tragedy, they grow closer and with disappointment, drift apart. How can two people from opposite ends of the faith spectrum reconnect when they need each other most?
