The Enchanted Castle (Shioni of Sheba)
This is a great book, especially for anyone with a love of Ethiopia. My daughter was adopted from Ethiopia, so I am always looking for good books that focus on anything ethnic, but especially on Ethiopia. This will be a great book for her to read as she enters her preteen years, but I also loved reading it.
Shioni of Sheba: The Enchanted Castle is the first book in a unique African fantasy series set in the ancient Kingdom of Sheba, for middle grades/secondary age readers.
“A cracking story which catches the imagination…” “I was enthralled, each character came alive off the page”
When Shioni, slave to the Princess of Sheba, travels to the legendary Simien Mountains of Ethiopia, she encounters adventure beyond her wildest dreams. Little does she imagine the powerful forces lurking in this jagged volcanic wilderness; forces that could tear the Kingdom of Sheba apart.
Kalcha, the Wasabi leader, has prepared a deadly trap, an evil sorcery rooted within the castle the King has chosen for his fortress. Kalcha is massing her warriors and her giant hyenas, intent on annihilating the Sheban forces.
As the Wasabi attack it is left to Shioni to show the way with courage and the conviction of her heart. Can she overcome the wrath of a lion, outwit the treacherous Captain Dabir, and defuse General Getu’s inexplicable hatred? With the help of her friends Mama Nomuula, Princess Annakiya, and the fiuri Azurelle, Shioni must uncover the hidden secrets of the Enchanted Castle before Kalcha destroys all she holds dear.
Experience the myth and magic of ancient Sheba in this truly African adventure. Includes original illustrations by the Ethiopian artist Senait Worku.

The Quarter-Acre Farm: How I Kept the Patio, Lost the Lawn, and Fed My Family for a Year
Somehow this book manages to be an excellent “how to” guide, an extremely funny diary of the author’s failures and successes, and a very readable instruction manual all at once. It will make you feel that producing some portion of your own food is an achievable and worthy goal no matter where you live. This book is just the encouragement and assistance that you’ve been looking for if you are dreaming of growing your own food on your own small lot/yard.
She did it anyway.
The Quarter-Acre Farm is Warren’s account of deciding—despite all resistance—to take control of her family’s food choices, get her hands dirty, and create a garden in her suburban yard. It’s a story of bugs, worms, rot, and failure; of learning, replanting, harvesting, and eating. The road is long and riddled with mistakes, but by the end of her yearlong experiment, Warren’s sons and husband have become her biggest fans—in fact, they’re even eager to help harvest (and eat) the beautiful bounty she brings in.
Full of tips and recipes to help anyone interested in growing and preparing at least a small part of their diet at home, The Quarter-Acre Farm is a warm, witty tale about family, food, and the incredible gratification that accompanies self-sufficiency.

Colorful photos and creative recipes make the Easy Breakfast Mug Recipes a cookbook a winner when it comes to a good selection of recipes. The unnamed author has included a wide variety of recipes ranging from savory to sweet. The recipes are will written too. Some of the recipes use an egg substitute making the recipe a bit healthier and some of the recipes use real eggs. All the recipes sound so good and I can’t wait to try them all.

I love this book. First of all Kathi Lipp is funnier than heck and has the same everyday struggles. She knows to reward yourself with Facebook and Entertainment Tonight time. Instead of being consumed by it. Practical advice and I love all the projects she assists. Her writing style is that of one talking with your far away cousin on the phone once a month for two hours.

understands herself as a unique creation of her Heavenly Father
survives life’s hardest places

Healthy Habits for a Fit Family
I read this book almost in one sitting it was so excellently written. The author is very balanced in his approach, showing how important healthy habits and lifestyle are in parents in order for their children to grow into healthy adults as well. I would recommend it to anyone, especially Christians who want to base their healthy lifestyle on principles gained from Scripture.

This book is an excellent transition for mystery or historical fiction readers who are ready to take a step toward reading for self-improvement and personal growth. One cannot read this book and be unchanged. Much like faith itself, it requires a decision and action.

I have enjoyed reading all of Candace’s books. When I got home from my nursing job, spent time with my family and took care of everything that needed to be done, I was able to relax before bed and delve into her very well written Christian based books related to the medical field. Life Support was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Can’t wait for her next one!

Great story. Love the history included. can’t wait to read the rest of the serious. Gilbert Morris is on of my favorite authors
Set at the turn of the twentieth century, this first of the American Century series tells the story of a time of growth and opportunity. Filled with historical figures such as Theodore Roosevelt and James Randolph Hearst, this fascinating book will draw readers into the exciting events of the time and the lives of the family it follows. Last Chance for Justice (A Bloomfield Novel)
This novel is about the relationships, between a mother and daughter, between a sister and brother and so many more. I felt a kinship with all the characters and I just plain out couldn’t put it down. I can hardly wait to see what happens to all the characters in the other Bloomfield books. Loved it!
Lynn Myers is still reeling from losing her husband of thirty-five years when word comes that her only sibling, an older brother, has also died. With no one else to settle the estate, she must return to her small hometown of Bloomfield, however briefly, to settle his affairs.
Lynn’s daughter, Rachel, has just graduated from Bible college and with no other commitments comes along to sort through her uncle’s huge old home, right next to the local cemetery.
It isn’t long before Rachel has two men — a handsome CPA and the youth pastor — seriously vying for her attention. At the same time, Lynn’s attention is drawn to a set of journals her brother has left behind detailing a long-standing Bloomfield mystery.
As they pursue solving this mystery, Rachel must make some personal decisions about her future, while Lynn is forced to face unexpected issues from her own past.
