The Dog Listener: Learning the Language of your Best Friend

The Dog Listener: Learning the Language of your Best Friend

Jan Fennell

This book is well written and easy to understand. The frequent referance to wolf pack mentality is right on. I have watched PBS documentaries on wolf packs and observed my own two dogs and the behavioral similarity is astounding. I think Jan has nailed it with this book. I’m presently applying the techniques Jan has developed to my dogs and the results are as predicted. I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to gain control of their dog and to those who want to start out right with their new puppy.

Royal D Friedly

You’ve heard of the Horse Whisperer – now meet the woman who uses similar methods to train dogs.

Jan Fennell’s remarkable gifts have earned her the nickname “the dog listener”. Her unique understanding of the canine world and its instinctive language has enabled her to bring even the most desperate and delinquent of dogs to heel.

This easy-to-follow guide to understanding Jan’s simple techniques draws on her countless case histories of problem dogs – from biters and barkers to bicycle chasers – to show how we can bridge the language barrier that separates man from his best friend.

In The Dog Listener Jan shares her secrets, telling us how she grew determined to find a more compassionate alternative to standard “obedience” training techniques and ultimately how to communicate with canines.

Lies That Make You Pay & Truths That Set You Free: A Mother's Guide to the Simple and Frugal Life

Lies That Make You Pay & Truths That Set You Free: A Mother’s Guide to the Simple and Frugal Life

Rachel Norman

would highly recommend this ebook to all mothers who are looking at living a life that is simplified yet full of purpose. Rachel writes openly and honesty. She writes with such wisdom yet remains to-the-point, witty and entertaining. Her heartfelt guidance is truly challenging (in a good way!) and helped me to re-think the way I do things, why I do them in such a way and how I can change my thinking to be set free and live a more fulfilling life.

Melanie

Read this book and you’ll discover:

√ Why you continue to impulse shop even when you don’t want to.
√ Why you still go shopping with a closet full of clothes.
√ Why everyone says babies are so expensive (even though they’re not.)
√ Why frugal living and simple living are often at war.

You’ll discover tried and true tips on:

√ Learning to mind your own business to prevent envy.
√ Maintaining a beautiful and inviting home on a budget.
√ Learning to be the entertainment instead of seeking paid entertainment.
√ Getting out of the unfulfilling “Keeping up with the Joneses” rat race.

Other tips on frugal and simple living include:

√ How to use home remedies to help meet your family’s needs.
√ How having your own garden, food storage, and emergency preparedness can help you save.
√ How having effective systems and organisation in your home prevents excess.
√ How purpose breeds contentment in our daily lives.

So if you really want to know why – in spite of the desire to be frugal – you:

√ Feel more secure with more stuff;
√ Think downsizing is going backwards;
√ Are envious of others possessions.

then this book is a must read!

Nobody really believes that more stuff equals more happiness. No one actually thinks that, on their deathbed, they will be so grateful they had all that time with their worldly possessions. Even so, why is it so hard to live simply and frugally?

It isn’t because we don’t want to, it’s because we are believing numerous little lies that our society, culture and even experience have told us.

“One is not enough.”
“Only poor people are frugal.”
“More things equal more convenience.”
“I don’t have much money so I don’t need to budget.”
“Everyone else spends freely and they’re not in money trouble.”

These thoughts (and many many more) have woven their way throughout our lives in a way that make it difficult to act out our desires to minimize, and live simply and frugally.

Lies That Make You Pay & Truths That Set You Free will highlight 30 lies (in 30 chapters) that stop us from going forward with more. More time, more money, and more contentment.

Each chapter includes a personal challenge, and all the challenges can be printed in a FREE bundle!

The Millionaire Next Door

The Millionaire Next Door

Thomas J. Stanley Ph.D.

The Millionaire Next Door is without doubt one of the best financial books ever published. It tells you exactly how millionaires became millionaires. Unfortunetly, achieving wealth requires discipline. Too many people would rather live for today and forget about tomorrow. The Millionaire Next Door is a powerful book that can positively change your life.

A Customer

Most of the truly wealthy in the United States don’t live in Beverly Hills or on Park Avenue. They live next door.

America’s wealthy seldom get that way through an inheritance or an advanced degree. They bargain-shop for used cars, raise children who don’t realize how rich their families are, and reject a lifestyle of flashy exhibitionism and competitive spending. In fact, the glamorous people many of us think of as “rich” are actually a tiny minority of America’s truly wealthy citizens—and behave quite differently than the majority.

At the time of its first publication in 1996, The Millionaire Next Door was a groundbreaking examination of America’s rich—exposing for the first time the seven common qualities that appear over and over among this exclusive demographic. This new edition, the first since 1998, includes a new foreword by Dr. Thomas J. Stanley—updating the original content in the context of the 21st century.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Formerly a professor of marketing at Georgia State University, Dr. Stanley spent approximately 20 years interviewing America’s wealthy, starting in 1973—and focusing on people with a net worth of at least $1 million.

His first book, Marketing to the Affluent, was chosen as a Top 10 Outstanding Business Book by the editors of Best of Business Quarterly. He achieved popular acclaim with The Millionaire Next Door—selling over 2 million copies. In total, Dr. Stanley’s books have spent over 170 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list.

Dr. Stanley holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Georgia in Athens. He currently lives in Atlanta.

The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name

Sally Lloyd-Jones

I love every aspect of this Bible. The illustrations by Jago are both charming and intriguing. There are about fifty stories, a good balance. The text itself is exactly what I want my children to hear, theologically. I love this line from the very first chapter. “The Bible isn’t mainly about you and what you should be doing. It’s about God and what he has done.” AMEN.

Agnes Campbell's Hat

Agnes Campbell’s Hat

Danni McGriffith

liked this work of historical fiction. It is imaginative. The plot keeps hopping, and the characters are believable and personable. It is certainly written for a younger audience but adults would enjoy reading it for themselves or to younger children. Although I have the Kindle version, I would keep this on my bookshelf for anyone to pick up with absolutely no qualms. The author knows her time period and setting well. I really appreciate good, clean, fun reads.

OkieReader

After an old hat and a storm leave modern girl, Tessa Hensen, trapped in a past century and living in the hobbit-like house of a homesteader’s family on the Oklahoma Territory prairie, she is forced to accept help from an infuriating farm boy to get back to her real life.
Tessa lives as twelve-year-old Agnes Campbell while Judd Howard helps her solve the mystery of the hat. Sparks fly between the two of them as his old world and her new world collide. He does everything possible to get rid of her; she longs to escape him and his grumpy, old-fashioned ideas about everything.
Gradually, her unwanted family’s everyday struggle for survival draws Tessa into the past. When Elizabeth—a Kiowa Indian girl—befriends her, the hardships finally seem bearable.
The two girls face a terrifying encounter with an outlaw and an old Christian man sacrifices his life for theirs, forcing Tessa to ask herself the question: Does she really want to leave behind the past…and Judd?

The Warrior

The Warrior

Joyce Swann

This might be a fictional account, but it’s affects are life-changing. You won’t be able to read this book and not have your heart and mind changed about the power of dedicated, faithful, intercessory prayer.

Marcy @BenandMeBlog

James is sitting at a Ft. Worth intersection waiting for the light to change when he hears the roar of a truck engine speeding toward him. Before he can react, his motorcycle is crushed, and he is thrown fifty feet onto the median.

At that precise moment in Dallas, Elizabeth’s sleep is interrupted by a vivid dream in which she witnesses James’ accident. As she watches him begin to pass from life to death, she extends her hand and cries, “Don’t die if you don’t know Jesus!”

Although neither James nor Elizabeth is aware of the existence of the other, they begin a ten-year odyssey in which their lives are inexorably intertwined, changing their futures and the futures of those they love most.

The Warrior is a moving testimony to the power of prayer and God’s desire to redeem every life.

I LOVE this author’s stories and this one didn’t disappoint. I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.
Content: mild kissing, but otherwise clean.

Grace Warren’s life is safe and predictable–exactly the way she likes it. But when she gets roped into going to an auction to help out a friend, everything changes. She meets Seth Tuttle–a guy who unexpectedly kisses her then disappears, leaving her flustered and upset. If she never sees him again, it will be too soon.

A chance for love . . .
Weeks later, when Seth limps into Grace’s rehab clinic post surgery, he’s every bit as frustrating and annoying as she remembered.
