Confessions of a Prayer Slacker (Second Edition)
I felt inspired to start a actual prayer life (in contrast to the under-the-breath desperate mutterings I’m prone to), while laughing out loud at the author’s wit and transparency of her own prayer struggles. This will energize you (while artfully knocking each excuse out from under you) to get serious about prayer.

The author offers a whole new approach to economics. I enjoyed reading and discussing with colleagues the implications on economic policies.
In the international bestseller, Thinking, Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman, the renowned psychologist and winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, takes us on a groundbreaking tour of the mind and explains the two systems that drive the way we think. System 1 is fast, intuitive, and emotional; System 2 is slower, more deliberative, and more logical. The impact of overconfidence on corporate strategies, the difficulties of predicting what will make us happy in the future, the profound effect of cognitive biases on everything from playing the stock market to planning our next vacation—each of these can be understood only by knowing how the two systems shape our judgments and decisions.
Engaging the reader in a lively conversation about how we think, Kahneman reveals where we can and cannot trust our intuitions and how we can tap into the benefits of slow thinking. He offers practical and enlightening insights into how choices are made in both our business and our personal lives—and how we can use different techniques to guard against the mental glitches that often get us into trouble. Winner of the National Academy of Sciences Best Book Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and selected by The New York Times Book Review as one of the ten best books of 2011, Thinking, Fast and Slow is destined to be a classic.

Chris Powell’s Choose More, Lose More for Life
I started this book 3 weeks ago and the pounds are flying off. Chris Powell is amazing!!!! For the first time in my life I’ve stuck to a meal and exercise plan with no problem. Of course it was rough at first, and still can be when my family eats junk food but, the cravings for sweets are fading! 🙂 so happy.
Each season, millions of viewers tune in to see Chris Powell lead extraordinary transformations on ABC’s breakout hit reality-transformation show, Extreme Weight Loss. Now, building on the basic weight-loss philosophy introduced in his bestselling book Choose to Lose, Chris has created a transformation plan anyone can follow–one that recognizes that no weight-loss journey is the same, and that more options mean longer-lasting results.
At the center of Chris Powell’s Choose More, Lose More for Life is Chris’s carb-cycling plan, which kicks your metabolism into full gear by alternating between low- and high-carb days. Never carb-cycled before? No problem. Powell provides all the information you need to get started and see immediate results. Been carb-cycling but need to shake things up? This book provides four different cycles–Easy, Classic, Turbo, and Fit–to help you find a plan that fits you.
Chris also understands that weight loss plateaus when we get bored. So in this book, he focuses on choices–including more than twenty new workouts called Nine-Minute Missions–that pack maximum results into minimal time. He also offers more delicious and easy recipes to keep you eating well, more tracking logs to keep you motivated, and more success stories to inspire you as you write your own–one that lasts for the rest of your life!

It is a wonderful story to read, especially so because it is told BY them and not as interpreted by a third-party biographer.

All of Grace Livingston Hill’s books are pertinent to the present, not just the past. She seems to have had a real God-given talent for writing.

Fields of Grace (Heart of the Prairie Book #4)
My only complaint is that it was so good , I could not put it down, and read it in less than two days. I would love to see a sequel to this to catch up Henrik ,the oldest son to see how he fairs in love in America. Whoever does Kim’s art work for her book covers does fantastic work also. Wonderful, and spirtually uplifting novel.

I am a reader and a writer of romantic suspense.
Linda J. White has given us a fast paced story, well researched and well written. I fell behind a little in the first pages, but quickly connected and found the story hard to put down.
Kit teams up with D.C. cop David O’Connor to investigate the murder with the smallest of clues—tomato seeds and acorns found in the boy’s pockets. Using plant DNA evidence, Kit traces the young boy to a huge farm where more than a killer looms. With grit, determination, and a growing interest in David, Kit pursues her case and discovers that, to truly move forward in life, justice has to be tempered with mercy.

I recommend this book for both it’s romance and fun, but also for the themes represented that really resonated with me. I look forward to reading more by Gail Sattler.
