Walden on Wheels: On the Open Road from Debt to Freedom
As a high school English teacher, I would highly recommend this book to my senior students. Walden on Wheels is a well-written book that informs, enlightens, and entertains.
Debt-free, Ilgunas then enrolled in a master’s program at Duke University, determined not to borrow against his future again. He used the last of his savings to buy himself a used Econoline van and outfitted it as his new dorm. The van, stationed in a campus parking lot, would be more than an adventure—it would be his very own “Walden on Wheels.”
Freezing winters, near-discovery by campus police, and the constant challenge of living in a confined space would test Ilgunas’s limits and resolve in the two years that fol¬lowed. What had begun as a simple mission would become an enlightening and life-changing social experiment. Walden on Wheels offers a spirited and pointed perspective on the dilemma faced by those who seek an education but who also want to, as Thoreau wrote, “live deep and suck out all the marrow of life.”

The Doctor Wore Petticoats: Women Physicians of the Old West
As I lover of Pioneer history, especially in terms of the women of the times, I found The Doctor Wore Petticoats a nice introductory to not only early medicine on the frontier, but to the bravery and fortitude a certain group of tenacious women showed in order to make their way in a man’s world. Chris Enss details the lives of 12 different women who won against the odds and became qualified and sought after physicians in the Wild West.

Manning: A Father, His Sons and a Football Legacy
This is an excellent book, written by Archie and Peyton Manning. It starts of with a really painful experience for Archie, and it goes through Archie’s entire life and career, and it talks about the begining of Peyton’s career and most of his childhood. I would recomend this book to anyone, and to everybody who loves the Manning family, like I do.

Sisters of the Confederacy (A Secret Refuge Book #2)
I found this series surprisingly good. I read the first in an ebook from my library and liked it so much that since they didn’t carry the rest of the series, I bought them so I could find out “the rest of the story”. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical romances.
Warming countless hearts and bringing history to life, Lauraine Snelling’s Sisters of the Confederacy is an exciting tale of courage, adventure, and romance.
After finding her expected safe haven destroyed, Jesselyn Highwood must decide where to turn next. With no place left to go, Jesselyn decides to head west on the Oregon Trail. Here she encounters hardship, danger on the journey–and love.
Meanwhile, her sister, Louisa, smuggles desperately needed supplies for the hospital in Richmond where she helps care for wounded soldiers. As both sisters face the ravages of war, one remains strong in her faith while the other struggles to understand a God who allows such atrocities to continue.

Last Chance for Justice: A Bloomfield Novel
This novel is about the relationships, between a mother and daughter, between a sister and brother and so many more. I felt a kinship with all the characters and I just plain out couldn’t put it down. I can hardly wait to see what happens to all the characters in the other Bloomfield books. Loved it!
Lynn Myers is still reeling from losing her husband of thirty-five years when word comes that her only sibling, an older brother, has also died. With no one else to settle the estate, she must return to her small hometown of Bloomfield, however briefly, to settle his affairs.
Lynn’s daughter, Rachel, has just graduated from Bible college and with no other commitments comes along to sort through her uncle’s huge old home, right next to the local cemetery.
It isn’t long before Rachel has two men — a handsome CPA and the youth pastor — seriously vying for her attention. At the same time, Lynn’s attention is drawn to a set of journals her brother has left behind detailing a long-standing Bloomfield mystery.
As they pursue solving this mystery, Rachel must make some personal decisions about her future, while Lynn is forced to face unexpected issues from her own past.

Fade to Blue: An Otter Bay Novel
Fade to Blue is an insightful contemporary Christian Otter Bay relationship drama. The cast makes the tale work especially Suz-Q whose belief in the Lord will soon be tested. With a profound underlying message that you can pray for others but like that proverbial horse not make them drink the water of faith. Readers will appreciate this strong drama.
Suz Mitchell is a determined dreamer, and won’t allow her ex-husband’s jail sentence to ruin their young son Jeremiah’s life. An accomplished artist, Suz moves with her child across the country to California’s central coast, and lands a job restoring priceless art for the historic Hearst Castle overlooking the sea.
But even dreams have shocking twists. To her surprise, a serious old flame, Seth, works at the castle and jumbles the new aspirations in Suz’s heart. While sorting through their past and a palette of spiritual differences, an even bigger brush with yesterday awaits.
Suz must learn to let God be the true restorer of all that once seemed lost.
