I have owned rice cookers for many years. My latest, the Zojirushi NS-ZAC10, is the best I have ever used. I figured it would be a good idea to branch out from using the rice cooker to cook only rice, so I purchased this highly recommended book.

Eat and Run: My Unlikely Journey to Ultramarathon Greatness
Very entertaining, and for the casual runner, like me, very inspiring. I don’t think I’ll go vegan–I like dairy and eggs a LOT–but I am putting some more thought into what I eat and eating more veggies and fruits, and I think Scott would approve.
For nearly two decades, Scott Jurek has been a dominant force—and darling—in the grueling and growing sport of ultrarunning. Until recently he held the American 24-hour record and he was one of the elite runners profiled in the runaway bestseller Born to Run.
In Eat and Run, Jurek opens up about his life and career as a champion athlete with a plant-based diet and inspires runners at every level. From his Midwestern childhood hunting, fishing, and cooking for his meat-and-potatoes family to his slow transition to ultrarunning and veganism, Scott’s story shows the power of an iron will and blows apart the stereotypes of what athletes should eat to fuel optimal performance. Full of stories of competition as well as science and practical advice—including his own recipes—Eat and Run will motivate readers and expand their food horizons.
“Jurek’s story and ideas should easily manage to speak to and cheer on anyone seeking to live life as fully as possible.”—Denver Post
“A shockingly honest, revealing, and inspiring memoir.”—Trail Runner

Goldilocks And The Three Bears
I got this book to read to my grandchildren on my 7″ Kindle Fire HD. The kids loved the illustrations and made comment on the clothes, beds, bowls and chairs. We could see Goldilocks sneaking into the window of the bear’s house, providing a perfect learning opportunity about the naughty things Goldilocks was doing to the bears and their possessions. Both kids loved the book and as soon as I said “The End”, the little one said “Can we read it again?” Is there a better endorsement for a book?

Justified Means (Book One) (The Agency Files)
Couldn’t put it down – sat up half the night to finish it. Had me hooked immediately and spent the rest of the book trying to figure out all the twists and turns. Loved it – can’t wait for the next one!
Whatever it takes: the motto of “The Agency.” It doesn’t exist–not legally speaking. However its effect in the lives of those who benefit from their aid is incalculable. Lives saved, restored, guarded–protected from the side of life most never see. Their clients are usually wealthy, important–desperate. Their other clients–well, they don’t always appreciate the efforts expended on their behalf–not until they aren’t lying on a slab in the morgue.
Justified Means~
Erika Polowski, in grave danger–danger she has no idea exists–finds herself captive, shackled, bound, gagged. Her captors have the most unbelievable story, yet as the enemy manages, time after time, to get too close, she has to decide who or what to trust. Can she believe the man who daily holds her at gunpoint? Does she trust her gut? She is certain that she knows nothing that could possibly matter to anyone–has done nothing that should put her in danger.
For Keith Auger, it’s just another assignment. Extract the client, protect the client, return the client to her life with minimal interruption. Except that this “client” isn’t so keen on being protected. His usual cheerful demeanor disappeared the night he helped her escape from her home–escape with the aid of duct tape, rope, and the dark of night.
His faith seems incongruous with his job. Her feisty personality might just keep her alive–if he can’t. How long can they stay one step ahead of their pursuers? How long can he protect her when every move they make seems only half a step behind those who want Erika dead. Why can’t they get a break?
The only answer is the one thing that he fears most. Is there a mole within The Agency?

Out Of The Blue (Truly Yours Digital Editions)
This book was so good. It brought you into the lives of the characters. You wanted to know more the whole time you are reading it.
Katie Walken has been running most of her life—from her Amish upbringing, from her family’s expectations, and from an arranged marriage to Karl Borg. Now a real estate agent, Katie feels she finally has the life she always wanted. . .or does she?
Karl lost his love when she fled from their future in Amish country. Leaving home, too, he became an attorney. But his heart remains with Katie.
When Katie and Karl are reunited, they seem to have a second chance at love. Will they allow God to help them face their past while looking toward their future?

When Calls the Heart (Canadian West Book #1)
I have read most of Janette Oke’s books, and this series is my favorite by far. The story takes place in a different setting from most Christian historical fiction (i.e., not the prairie), and with the first-person narration Elizabeth’s voice shines through. If you are tired of finding the same plot in many books, try this series; the books do stand out. They are also laugh-out-loud funny in places.

Confessions of a De-cluttering Junkie
This is a fun story about a woman who is overcome by the chaos in her home and goes “overboard” in her efforts to de-clutter. Her new “hobby” affects everyone around her, and not always in a positive way. Eventually, she finds the balance and in the process learns better relationship and parenting skills while her family discovers the rewards of organization.
Her family doesn’t know what to think of her and her. While Jacob does enjoy the streamlined beauty of his new life, he is also just as frustrated as their sons as Kaye goes from clean up to clear out–including treasured possessions.
Who knew that what started out as a survival technique would become an addiction?

Strangers in the Night (When i fall in love™)
Kidnapping, a mysterious disappearance, an artists’ colony, a great cast of characters–Patricia Rushford’s Strangers in the Night has all the elements of satisfying romantic suspense. Well developed characters drew me into the story and held my interest. Expert pacing keeps the suspense and romance well balanced. A great read for anyone who enjoys a good mystery–especially one set on the scenic Oregon coast.
