When Godly People Do Ungodly Things: Finding Authentic Restoration in the Age of Seduction
I recommend this book highly to persons who are intent upon living consecrated, victorious lives for Jesus Christ. Moore’s honesty, transparency and humility serve only to strengthen the arguments she presents. This one is not a book to miss!
Beth writes with a passion fueled by the Biblical warnings of the schemes of Satan’s seductive activity and the broken-hearted concern of a teacher who receives countless letters from repentant Christians limping on the road to finding restoration. Delivering dire warnings to Christians to safeguard themselves against Satan’s attacks, Beth also reveals how you can know if someone is vulnerable. Beth writes, “We, Christ’s church, are in desperate need of developing His heart and mind in issues like these.” She fears that often God is far more merciful than the Body of Christ is with the deeply repentant and those desperate to find their way home. When Godly People Do Ungodly Things will be a guide to authentic repentance and restoration.

Christmas Stories: Heartwarming Classics of Angels, a Manger, and the Birth of Hope (Bright Empires)
I found these stories to be spiritually uplifting. I really liked the fresh perspective they all gave, but especially with the last story!
These stories—like your favorite Christmas ornaments—come in all shapes and sizes. They unfold in a variety of settings, from ancient Bethlehem to rural England. From a small Texas town to the heavenly realms. Some are short. Others many chapters long. Some offer reflections. Others imagine Christmas through the eyes of a burnt-out candle maker, a lonely business man, or heavenly angels.
Yet all are vintage Lucado, and all resonate with the wonder of the season.
“In the mystery of Christmas,” Max writes, “we find its majesty. The mystery of how God became flesh, why he chose to come, and how much he must love his people. Such mysteries can never be solved, just as love can never be diagrammed. Christmas is best pondered, not with logic, but imagination.”
That’s what each of these unique Christmas stories help us do. In the midst of the bustle and hurry that often distracts us this time of year, these stories free us to explore the ways in which Christ’s coming has forever changed history—and us.

Taste of Home Christmas: 465 Recipes For a Merry Holiday!
The photographs in this book are lovely and enticing. It is very important to me that cookbooks have pictures of the recipes, and this one has a picture for almost every recipe. The recipes are well laid out (not cut to other pages making it hard to reference), use accessible ingredients and are easy to follow. I cook and bake every day, but I will pass most cookbooks on after I have culled a few recipes from them. This one I’m keeping!

College Unbound: The Future of Higher Education and What It Means for Students
Intriguing book, well-written, and outlines the potential for continuing education in the future as it adapts to our increasingly technological society.
The four-year college experience is as American as apple pie. So is the belief that higher education offers a ticket to a better life. But with student-loan debt surpassing the $1 trillion mark and unemployment of college graduates at historic highs, people are beginning to question that value.
In College (Un)bound, Jeffrey J. Selingo, editor at large of the Chronicle of Higher Education, argues that America’s higher education system is broken. The great credential race has turned universities into big business and fostered an environment where middle-tier colleges can command elite university-level tuition while concealing staggeringly low graduation rates, churning out graduates with few of the skills needed for a rapidly evolving job market.
Selingo not only turns a critical eye on the current state of higher education but also predicts how technology will transform it for the better. Free massive online open courses (MOOCs) and hybrid classes, adaptive learning software, and the unbundling of traditional degree credits will increase access to high-quality education regardless of budget or location and tailor lesson plans to individual needs. One thing is certain—the Class of 2020 will have a radically different college experience than their parents.
Incisive, urgent, and controversial, College (Un)bound is a must-read for prospective students, parents, and anyone concerned with the future of American higher education.

Patricia MacLachlan uses very simple language, which only highlights her poet’s gift of saying volumes and painting landscapes with a few well-chosen words. The images in the novel are as potent as images in poetry, even though everything is in prose. Every last word is meaningful.

Really makes you think about your marriage and children and all of you life choices. In the beginning it was just a story but by the end I found myself really rooting for them
The red door opens and the first thing
she notices is the fire in the room, blazing hot, a warm, inviting, friendly place
and the voice of an old man welcomes her in. There are three golden pots on the
hearth, shining, glimmering things. The old man claims that they are used to restore
marriages. She laughs-and begins a journey through her past, present, and future
that will test how she views her lifelong love. There are two futures available.
Which will she choose?

I fell in love with the marrying parlor as soon as I began to read this book, and you will, too. Lori Copeland shines in this story, and this novella would make the perfect Christmas gift for anyone who enjoys a warm and heart-warming read.
“Ben O’Keefe’s plight broke my heart, but Henrietta’s down-home goodness, amplified by the love of God, more than saved the day! A charming addition to any holiday celebration, you’ll want to make time for this winsome story!”

The Promise of an Angel (A Heaven On Earth Novel)
THE PROMISE OF AN ANGEL is Ruth Reid’s debut novel, and the first in her three book A Heaven on Earth series. Incorporating the popular Amish fiction in with spirituality, the reader has the best of both worlds, Angels and Amish in one page turning novel. This is a great beginning to a new series.
All Judith Fischer ever wanted is to marry within her community and raise a family. She longs for the day when her parents will allow Levi Plank to officially court her.
But on the day Judith suspects Levi will ask her parent’s permission, her younger brother Samuel has an accident under her charge. Rushing to Samuel’s aid, Judith spies a strange man helping him; a man she later believes was an angel.
When she shares her conviction with her family and close friends, she is shocked to find that no one believes her, including Levi. In the days following the accident, the angel visits Judith with information that may guide her down the path of faith, should she choose to follow.
As her community slowly distances themselves, only one person is willing to stand up for her―the bishop’s son, Andrew Lapp. But can he convince the settlement to listen to her? With a show of faith that flies in the face of her conservative upbringing, can Judith hold strong to the promise that there are even greater things in store for those who believe in God’s miracles?
