Run Like a Mother: How to Get Moving–and Not Lose Your Family, Job, or Sanity
This is a MUST read for anyone who has even thought about running. I had never run in my life. Truly. Not even half a mile. I don’t play sports. On a recommendation of a friend, I read this about a year ago and have now run 2 half marathons! It has totally changed my life. I feel confident, proud, and as the mother of two young children, I know have an excuse for “me” time. I’ve read both of their books and they are so inspiring. I hope they write more. If I can run, ANYONE can! I owe it all to this book!!
McDowell and Shea understand the various external and internal forces in everyday life that can unintentionally keep a wife–mother–working woman from lacing up her shoes and going for a run. Because the authors are multihyphenates themselves, Run Like a Mother is driven by their own running expertise and real-world experience in ensuring that running is part of their lives.
More than a book, Run Like a Mother is essentially a down-to-earth, encouraging conversation with the reader on all things running, with the overall goal of strengthening a woman’s inner athlete.
Of course, real achievement is a healthy mix of inspiration and perspiration, which is why the authors have grounded Run Like a Mother in a host of practical tips on shoes, training, racing, nutrition, and injuries, all designed to help women balance running with their professional and personal lives.

Disappointment with God: Three Questions No One Asks Aloud
This book is a must read for anyone who wants to have a fuller understanding of who God is and how we can view and work through those feelings of anger and disappointment when He doesn’t do what we want him to do. It’s not just for someone going through a dry period in their relationship with God (although it’s GREAT for those dry periods).

Bringing the Gospel Home: Witnessing to Family Members, Close Friends, and Others Who Know You Well
Excellent book. Witnessing to family members and close friends is one of the most difficult things a Christian can do and this book gives practical guidance and confidence.
A messianic Jew who has led several family members to Christ, Newman urges Christians to look to the Bible before they evangelize. He writes, “a richer understanding of biblical truth, I have found, can provide a firmer foundation for bold witness and clear communication.” After a brief introduction on the nature of family, he delves into discussions of grace, truth, love, humility, and time. He also addresses issues related to eternity and end-of-life conversations. Bringing the Gospel Home will help any Christian as he seeks to guide loved ones into God’s family.

Annie And Willie’s Prayer (The Night Before Christmas of Faith and Belive in Christmas’s Magic)
My Dear Grandmother who passed away in 1999 at the ripe old age of 106 used to recite this poem, which she had memorized, every Christmas to the delight of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. My mother who is now 94 had also learned this poem and recited it around Christmas. I was delighted to find it in print and find it enjoyable and bringing back many good memories.
The classic children poetry written in 1884, retold stories of Christmas Advent with parent and child in familiy.

Merry Humbug Christmas by Sandra Bricker was such a fun book to read. I literally read it in a day because I could not put it down. Told in 2 novellas, the stories follow two best friends as they each have highly unexpected and hilarious Christmas holidays. The book will definitely put you in the Christmas spirit!
In “Once Upon a Jingle Bell,” A Bah! Humbug cruise to the Mexican Riviera is Joss Snow’s answer to this year’s quest to avoid the holidays completely; at least until she’s rebooked on a different kind of cruise altogether. Candy canes, holly wreaths, reindeer and ornaments seem to be stalking her on the 12 Days of Christmas holiday cruise extravaganza. An escape back to land is her only goal . . . until she meets a kindred spirit in rugged Irishman Patrick Brenneman, and then the game is on! Avoid Christmas festivities at all costs . . . except maybe for that one stop under the mistletoe.
In “It Came Upon a Midnight Deer,” Reese’s guilt over abandoning best friend Joss on their holiday tradition of avoiding all things Christmas is trumped by the joy of her recent engagement. Meeting Damian’s family for the first time on idyllic Sugarloaf Mountain is about as far from that Bah! Humbug cruise as she can get, and Reese can hardly wait to get there. But from the moment they hit that deer in the road just two miles from the cabin, everything seems to go wrong. There are no drummers drumming or pipers piping this particular year! And once she sets her future in-laws’ family cabin ablaze, she’s pretty sure there won’t be even ONE golden ring in her future.

Glittering Promises: A Novel (Grand Tour Series)
Lisa Bergren has never failed to bring her readers a new thrilling, touching, and memorable read — and Glittering Promises is no exception! The Grand Tour series was really interesting and I enjoyed learning about all the history behind the famous cities that they visited. I love history, so I think this part of the book was my personal favorite to read!
For Cora Kensington, the Grand Tour was to be the trip of a lifetime. She discovered the family she never knew she had, and may have even found the love she longs for in Will. And yet her life has just become infinitely more challenging …
Hounded by journalists chasing the beguiling story of the newest American heiress, Cora fights to remain true to her past, reconcile her present, and still embrace her future. But as Will struggles with her newfound wealth, she begins to wonder if their love is strong enough to withstand all that threatens to pull them apart.
Complicating matters is the stubborn pursuit of Pierre de Richelieu and the increased demands on her time and attention. Cora must stand up for what she believes—regardless of how that might challenge current family and cultural norms—in order to remain true to who she really is.
And as she glimpses the end of the tour, Cora knows it’s time to decide Who and what defines her … and who and what does not.
