You will find plenty of cozy and yummy recipes in the Circle of Friends 25 One-Pot Dinners published by the folks at Gooseberry Patch. Best of all most of the recipes sound easy to prepare and use very little cookware to get the cooking done. That’s what I love most about one-pot meals is the ease of preparation and clean-up and the Gooseberry Patch cookbook is a winner on all counts.

Twice As Nice: 25 Chicken Breast Recipes for Today and Later
What a lovely variety of recipes for everybody’s go-to item: chicken breasts! Very nicely put together, and some mouth-watering ideas! Plus I love the author’s humor. Great Christmas gift!!
Liu astutely shows the reader how to save time and money by preparing a larger amount of chicken, and freezing the extras. But unlike other “cook ahead” books, you don’t get stuck eating the same dish over and over. Each time you want to use the chicken, you take out just what you need, and then make a fresh dish from among the recipes provided (and they are tasty!).
Recipes are organized into well thought-out sections on “Salads”, “Soups and Stews”, “Sandwiches, Pitas, or Tortillas”, “Pastas”, “Rice”, and “One-Dish Dinners.” They cover the full range from the quick-and-easy staple (chicken salad sandwiches) to the wow-your-guests spectacle (chicken, rice, and mango lettuce wraps). The recipes for the chicken with red mole sauce and the chicken and chickpea stew are top choices that would each be well worth the price of purchase by itself.
Sprinkled among the amazing recipes and practical tips are surprisingly interesting anecdotes and facts about—what else—chicken.

NO EXIT ((The Apple Grove Gang #1) (children’s books ages 8-12))
This was a pretty good book and it’s a great book for a kid. It’s sad that as an adult I have to read some of the kids books to make sure they’re appropriate for my nephew and cousins to read, but this one passed muster and I have to say I’ll be telling parents that it’s not only okay, but quite a good read.

Diary of a De-cluttering Junkie: Episode 7
I enjoyed the series very much. It is a quick read. It has been so fun to read what Kaye would do next.
Her family doesn’t know what to think of her and her. While Jacob does enjoy the streamlined beauty of his new life, he is also just as frustrated as their sons as Kaye goes from clean up to clear out–including treasured possessions.
Who knew that what started out as a survival technique would become an addiction?
Episode Seven: With her foot on the mend and the enormous garage sale behind her, Kaye faces three of her biggest temptations: craft supplies, back to school sales, and Christmas. Episode seven is the final episode in the De-cluttering Junkie series.
The Diary of a Decluttering Junkie is a seven-episode serial novel.

I have tasted Vlada’s food firsthand and…what an amazing cook she is. The gorgeous pictures make my mouth water and her recipes are so easy to follow–I don’t know which one I want to try first!
What makes these recipes different is that they are (secretly) packed with nutrition. We have added flax seeds, whole grains, fruits, nuts, and even vegetables to make delicious desserts. Have you ever heard of Chocolate Kale Cake or Flax-Infused Apple Pie? What about Lemony Tapioca, Pumpkin Walnut Squares, or Orange Ginger Peanut Butter Cookies? These desserts are so tasty your friends and family will never know that they are nutritious.
Several of these recipes have won awards or have been featured in magazines. They are brought to you by Vlada Vladic, a Food Network winning chef and the founder/producer of the Cooking and Kids educational/cooking programs.
Just so you know, our definition of “healthy” is not related to low fat, but relates to all natural cooking devoid of artificial colors and flavors, hydrogenated fats, and preservatives.
Our goal is to stand alongside you to help you cook all natural, healthy, and delicious food for your family and friends.

The Duck Commander Devotional by Alan Robertson is one of the finest devotionals I have seen. Rich in content and elaborately designed to have a pleasing look with a short inspiring message supplemented by a passage from the Scripture, and a prayer, this unique devotional comes from the stars of Duck Dynasty, although the compiler Alan Robertson is the only one who isn’t on the Duck Dynasty® show yet.
Loyal fans of the Duck Dynasty family will relish this collection of inspirational messages for each day of the year. From patriarch Phil and matriarch Kay to their four sons—Willie, Jase, Jep, and Alan—and their beautiful wives and children, the entire Robertson clan contributes to this heartening guide. You’ll also hear from Martin, Godwin, and Mountain Man as they share their faith and their personal lives to encourage and inspire readers.
Compiled by the newest addition to Duck Dynasty—the oldest son and former pastor, Al—each devotional contains a brief message, a passage from Scripture, and a prayer. Not only are the messages motivational, but they are also laced with the characters’ trademark wit and revelations of their personal faith journeys. An ideal companion for Duck Dynasty fans, outdoor enthusiasts, and those who want to grow in their faith, The Duck Commander Devotional is certain to inspire you in your own faith journey.

This was a very good read. I have read this book 3 times now and this last time, I highlighted my favorite points and statements from the author. With 3 growing children, I find myself especially desiring to cook food for my ‘crew’ than buying fast food. This goes for cutting way down on boxed and frozen processed food as well! I especially love all the simple but very tasty example recipes.
Mark Bittman is one of the nation’s most trusted and beloved food writers, but there was a time when he lived primarily on vanilla ice cream and McDonald’s. Then he discovered cooking, and everything changed. In this story from the new digital publisher Byliner, the New York Times columnist and bestselling author of “How to Cook Everything” traces his journey from grilled-cheese-making neophyte to confident cook. More than that, he makes the case for why all of us should spend more time in the kitchen, regardless of how comfortable we are there. After all, even he was a beginner once.
Bittman argues that a simple meal prepared at home is a powerful tool: It’s one small step toward improving your health and, by extension, the health of the planet. Our reliance on prepared food—in the form of snacks, soft drinks, frozen meals, and fast food—supports a system of agriculture that is playing havoc with our bodies, our economy, and the environment. How can we break the cycle? By cooking.
“People who prepare meals—even infrequently—achieve outcomes that extend far beyond the morsel at the end of the fork,” writes Bittman. “Cooking may not solve everything, but it solves a lot. When people make food a priority in their lives, they actively contribute to society. Cooking can change our collective lives for the better.”
“Cooking Solves Everything” is an engaging manifesto that inspires non-cooks to reach for a pan (Bittman’s shopping list and foolproof recipes will get them started) and encourages all of us to take a closer look at how we feed ourselves and our loved ones.

I plan to make more recipes from this book, though, and I’m happy to have some ideas to use with my Sodastream. I would have liked to see some sugar free soda recipes in here, but there aren’t any.

Life Observed, A: A Spiritual Biography of C. S. Lewis
Lewis super-fans will find in Brown’s book a wealth of new insights and connections to Lewis’s work. But this book will also play well for newcomers to Lewis. This is exactly the book I’ve been looking for to take discussion groups and undergraduate classes through the life and times of Lewis. Highly recommended for Lewis fans at any level.
Although it was clear from the start that Lewis would be a writer, it was not always clear he would become a Christian. Drawing on Lewis’s autobiographical works, books by those who knew him personally, and his apologetic and fictional writing, this book tells the inspiring story of Lewis’s journey from cynical atheist to joyous Christian and challenges readers to follow their own calling. The book allows Lewis to tell his own life story in a uniquely powerful manner while shedding light on his best-known works.

This is the best slow-cooker cookbook I have. It has recipies from appetizers to desserts and they are not complicated. I bought this for my three daughters also, as they use their slow-cookers frequently, and they love it and use it as least once a week. Everything I have made has been a success.

The Accidental Bride (A Big Sky Romance)
I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down!!! I love a good romance. I felt like i was part of the story. I wanted the next book. I bought it at Barnes & Nobles & didn’t know that there were more in the series. I am excited to read the next book that Denise Hunter has out.
Shay Brandenberger is raising her daughter in Moose Creek, Montana, on her childhood ranch, nestled against the Yellowstone River. Despite the hard work, she can’t seem to keep her head above water—and now the bank is threatening to foreclose. She prays for a miracle, but the answer she receives is anything but expected.
Having agreed to play the bride in the Founders’ Day wedding reenactment, Shay is mortified to be greeted at the end of the aisle by none other than Travis McCoy, her high-school sweetheart—the man who left her high and dry for fame and fortune on the Texas rodeo circuit.
Then the unthinkable happens. Thanks to a well-meaning busybody and an absentminded preacher, the make-believe vows result in a legal marriage. But before Shay can say annulment, Travis comes up with a crazy proposal. If she refuses his offer, she may lose her home. If she accepts, she may lose her heart.
Shay isn’t sure if the recent events are God’s will or just a preacher’s blunder. Will trusting her heart to the man who once shattered it be the worst mistake of her life? Or could their marriage be the best accident that ever happened?

I could read the Dakota Territory books by Laurraine Snelling every day. It’s such a disappointment when I finish one. I think I have read all of them. It’s been a wonderful trip through the settling of the Dakotas. What hardships they had to bear, but they never lost their hope, nor faith.
When Nora Johanson heard the conductor’s words, her heart began to race. At last she would be in the arms of the man she had promised to marry—Hans Larson. At fifteen she was so sure of their love. Now, three years later and far from the mountains and fjords of her beloved homeland, Norway, she wondered. . . .
She stepped off the train, found her trunk full of quilts, hand-embroidered linens, and household treasures painted with rosemaling designs, and looked anxiously for Hans. The pelting March snow stung her cheeks. “Where is he? Dear God, what will I do?” When Hans failed to arrive at the train station that night, Nora found herself thrown into a life she never expected– Reverend and Mrs. Moen and Carl Detschman, a grieving German immigrant. Was this really what God had planned for her?
Dakota Dawn is the first book of the Dakota Series that features the intertwining lives of five inspiring women, all who live in the early 1900s in the farming community of Soldahl, North Dakota.

The Journey of Josephine Cain (American tapestries)
I really enjoyed reading this book and being transported into the past on this journey with Josephine. Nancy Moser did an excellent job with this book. Although it’s historical fiction the book drew on real history and used some famous names as well. I think that is what makes this such an amazing book. I learned a lot about actual history but in a much more exciting way. The story drew me in from the start and I just couldn’t put the book down. I have already recommended this book to a few of my friends. This would make a great book club read. Plus as a series books you have others to enjoy from this amazing author.
