Duck Dynasty: Family Faith and Family Fun
Such an inspirational family! I love hearing about their rise to fame and I love that they are humble, down to earth God fearing, showing the masses about faith, love and Jesus.
Patriarch Phil Robertson created the duck call and started the company, which has made the family very wealthy. (Hence the “Dynasty” part of the show.)
But even though they may have large homes, the Robertson brothers love hunting and fishing and proudly proclaim themselves “rednecks.”
Phil was a star quarterback at Louisiana Tech but turned down the offer to play in NFL because he didn’t want to miss the duck season where he began his business and spent 25 years making duck calls from Louisiana cedar trees.
The now multi-million dollar enterprise is managed by Phil’s third son Willie who is CEO of the company, while his brother Jase is the COO.
Despite their wealth, they still wear camouflage prints, they hunt – shooting anything that flies or walks, they’re religious, and they’re full of subtle humor.
The Robertsons are a traditional family who believe in guns and God.
In the following pages you’ll get to know the family members in the Robertson family and learn why the show Duck Dynasty is watched by millions.
As Willie Robertson said when asked by he believes the show is so popular – “We try to stick to our roots.
We grew up not rich at all.
We try to stay humble. We’ve been successful and God has blessed us. We always have a family prayer at the end of the show.”

So I recommend this book if you want a rather detailed guide about being gluten / wheat free.

This book was very clean, often funny, and very enjoyable. The male and female characters are both struggling, flawed people, trying to find their way to God’s best plan for them. I highly recommend this book (actually three in one).

Sensible Shoes: A Story about the Spiritual Journey
This book unmasked me. Without leading readers to rote, memorized theology, Brown leads her readers to questions that have the power to change. We watch her characters struggle to find the right questions to ask and we feel their profound relief when they begin to see the clear path–the one they were led to slowly, gently, and lovingly. Sensible Shoes is soaked through with the story of redemption. It’s full and heavy with the message, but it’s sweet and goes down easy. It’s smooth.
Hannah, a pastor who doesn’t realize how exhausted she is.
Meg, a widow and recent empty-nester who is haunted by her past.
Mara, a woman who has experienced a lifetime of rejection and is now trying to navigate a difficult marriage.
Charissa, a hard-working graduate student who wants to get things right.
You’re invited to join these four women as they reluctantly arrive at a retreat center and find themselves drawn out of their separate stories of isolation and struggle and into a collective journey of spiritual practice, mutual support and personal revelation.
Along the way, readers will be taken into a new understanding of key spiritual practices and find tangible support for the deeper life with God.
If you want to travel this journey with others, you will find a group study guide and book club resources at www.sensibleshoesclub.com.
