Kahneman does an excellent job of summarizing various scientific studies and explaining them in a way that anyone can understand.
In the international bestseller, Thinking, Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman, the renowned psychologist and winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, takes us on a groundbreaking tour of the mind and explains the two systems that drive the way we think. System 1 is fast, intuitive, and emotional; System 2 is slower, more deliberative, and more logical. The impact of overconfidence on corporate strategies, the difficulties of predicting what will make us happy in the future, the profound effect of cognitive biases on everything from playing the stock market to planning our next vacation—each of these can be understood only by knowing how the two systems shape our judgments and decisions.
Engaging the reader in a lively conversation about how we think, Kahneman reveals where we can and cannot trust our intuitions and how we can tap into the benefits of slow thinking. He offers practical and enlightening insights into how choices are made in both our business and our personal lives—and how we can use different techniques to guard against the mental glitches that often get us into trouble. Winner of the National Academy of Sciences Best Book Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and selected by The New York Times Book Review as one of the ten best books of 2011, Thinking, Fast and Slow is destined to be a classic.

Lord, Teach Me To Pray in 28 Days
In times like these, we need to know how to pray. Thank you, Kay Arthur! The principles are so easy to follow and I learned so much about the “The Lord’s Prayer”. Prayer will always be apart of my daily rituals. AWESOME!
Arthur sheds light on the instructions Jesus gave to His disciples for the perfect pattern of meaningful prayer and demonstrates how the Lord’s Prayer covers worship, praise, intercession, and petition and ushers an individual into the presence of God.
This look at biblical prayer is refreshingly simple and exceedingly powerful—and it can transform the way anyone lives and prays. Ideal for individual or group study, and a classic resource for any home or church library.

I just finished reading this book and Max Lucado, as always, has written another outstanding book. He analyzes the symbolism of the three crosses, the nails and the actual crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. His use of imagery in the book is second to none as you feel as if you were actually present during the actual event. I have walked away with a deeper understanding and appreciation for what God chose to do for me (and you) because of His love. You MUST read this book!
Rub a finger on the timber and press the nail into your hand.
Taste the tinge of cheap wine and feel the scrape of a thorn on your brow.
Touch the velvet dirt, moist with the blood of God.
Allow the tools of torture to tell their story.
Listen as they tell you what God did to win your heart.

The Joshua Code (52 Scripture Verses Every Believer Should Know)
As the title says this is a great book for believers. Most believers will already be familiar with these 52 verses, but what makes this a great read is the authors commentary on each one. It gave me new insight on some of the bibles most cherished and quoted verses.
The Israelites finally had land and the opportunity to start anew. Their leader, Joshua, spoke wisely about how to follow God’s law and how to be successful. Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” The Joshua CodeTM is a challenge to keep the Word in our mouths through memorization and in our hearts through meditation “day and night.”
The fifty-two chapters in this volume are designed to lead you on a yearlong journey by spending each week memorizing and meditating on one Scripture verse so that it becomes a living part of your very being. Topics include grace, temptation, the three levels of prayer, fruit of the spirit, and more. The outlines in each chapter can also be used by the busy pastor or Bible teacher for guiding their members. God’s Word is powerful and profitable when studied and applied by anyone, the young and the seasoned believer alike.

Angel of the Cove (Smoky Mountain Dreams)
I really enjoyed this book. I liked reading about the Smoky Mountains and what life was like there in the past. The characters were very down to earth and lovable.
Anna Prentiss has never wanted to be anything but a nurse. Before she can start school in New York, however, her brother sends her to Cades Cove, deep in the Smoky Mountains, to spend a summer apprenticing to the local midwife. Anna is determined to prove herself and then head to the big city.
But nothing could have prepared Anna for the beauty of the Cove, or the community and friendships she finds there. And she certainly wasn’t prepared for Simon Martin, the handsome young minister, or the feelings he arouses in her. Has God’s plan for Anna changed? Or is she just starting to hear Him clearly?

A Cowboy’s Touch (A Big Sky Romance)
I’ve read several books by Denise Hunter over the past few years, but “A Cowboy’s Touch” is her best yet! I love a sweet story with a positive message, characters to care about, and settings I’m curious about. (I’ve always wanted to visit Montana!) That’s what this book is. Abigail Jones is an investigative reporter from Chicago suffering from hypertension. Her concerned family sends her to visit an aunt in Moose Creek, Montana, so she can get some rest. But she soon meets a little girl whose bicycle has been stolen and finds herself working for a cowboy with a mysterious past.
Abigail Jones intends to spend just one summer in middle-of-nowhere Montana with her Aunt Lucy. Time away from her job is just what Abigail needs to reassess her life. The slow pace has her breathing deeply for the first time in years. And the majestic scenery encourages her to get reacquainted with herself . . . and God.
What she didn’t count on was the handsome widowed cowboy who owns the ranch where her aunt lives. When the rancher loses his daughter’s nanny, Abigail decides to lend a hand for the summer.
Wade Ryan can’t help being attracted to Abigail. But he’s given up everything to protect his daughter, and he’s not about to risk it all on a pretty face.
Under Abigail’s care, Wade’s home and daughter thrive. And with Wade’s touch, Abigail’s heart feels at home at last. But Abigail knows this elusive rancher is hiding something. Will her own secrets separate her from the cowboy who finally captured her heart?
