What a wonderful book. I admit I almost didn’t read it because the cover looked too old fashioned-religious, then I realized that surely it was just the story I *did* want to read, as a Christian reader. I was most pleasantly surprised! I loved the way this author intertwined her characters’ stories and how she pulled it all together so it seemed natural, not forced. I loved the truths in her message; finding Christ is a journey, we are selfish but redeemable, and that prayers are truly answered by a loving God. I know that her audience will surely be made up of fellow believers but the message is as true today as it was the first day we met Christ–and it makes me want to go back to the days of my first love, and to share that with everyone.
At that precise moment in Dallas, Elizabeth’s sleep is interrupted by a vivid dream in which she witnesses James’ accident. As she watches him begin to pass from life to death, she extends her hand and cries, “Don’t die if you don’t know Jesus!”

Loved this book. Clean wholsome entertainment. Great holiday read but good reading any time of year. Carlson has a wonderful way with keeping the suspense going while keeping paralell stories moving along simultaneously. I cant wait to try another of her books.
Her new neighbor just adds to the problem. He’s doing home improvements that don’t appear to be improving much of anything. These days when Betty looks out the window, she sees a beat-up truck, a pile of junk, lots of blue tarps, and–horror of horrors–an old pink toilet.

I love this book it brought a great reading: sadness faith joy and happiness all in one wonderful read can’t wait for the next one.
