Against the Tide

Elizabeth Camden

Price: FREE

I’m not surprised by the fact that Against the Tide captivated me from beginning to end. I am surprised by just how much it captivated me! I literally read the entire book in 6 hours. It was just that good! Elizabeth Camden has an amazing talent for writing stories and characters that come to life. At times I felt like I was part of the story. That combined with her knack for evoking strong emotions in her readers left me feeling as though I had ridden an emotional roller coaster–from excitement and giddiness to fear, frustration, and anger. It’s all there! The storyline itself is just as powerful as the way Camden writes it. I loved the variety of topics addressed and how she brought them all together in the end to show how God works in every situation. Against the Tide is a beautiful story filled with romance and suspense and it has found a permanent spot on my “keeper” shelf!

Fatal Judgment (Guardians of Justice Book #1)

Irene Hannon

Price: FREE

This book is packed with suspense right from the beginning. The reader is taken on a thrilling ride as what looked to be a domestic related shooting turns into a whole lot more. As a federal judge, Liz’s life is in danger and the assassin is unknown. Hannon however shows the reader the assassin and we see things from his point of view. I found reading about to be more interesting than Liz and Jake’s escapades. Learning his back story didn’t really make me more sympathetic for him. I found it sad at the way he chose to focus his attentions on. The details of the type of government that was presented were quite scary as I know that there are actual groups out there that do believe in that sort of thing.

U.S. Marshal Jake Taylor has seen plenty of action during his years in law enforcement. But he’d rather go back to Iraq than face his next assignment: protection detail for federal judge Liz Michaels. His feelings toward Liz haven’t warmed in the five years since she lost her husband–and Jake’s best friend–to possible suicide. How can Jake be expected to care for the coldhearted workaholic who drove his friend to despair?

As the danger mounts and Jake gets to know Liz better, his feelings slowly start to change. When it becomes clear that an unknown enemy may want her dead, the stakes are raised. Because now both her life–and his heart–are in mortal danger.

Full of the suspense and romance Irene Hannon’s fans have come to love, Fatal Judgment is a thrilling story that will keep readers turning the pages late into the night.

Angel Sister (Rosey Corner Book #1)

Ann H. Gabhart

Price: FREE

Ann Gabhart has written a lovely story of endurance during the Great Depression. “Angel Sister” is based on a humble family, the Merritts, who are coping with all kinds of pressures–some of the pressures come from sharing small town living with extended family, some pressures come from unresolved issues inside the home. When a little girl is abandoned on the church steps and ends up in the care of the Merritt’s, simmering hostilities reach a boiling point. And ultimately results in so much good! This is a book with a recurring theme running through it–how can a person overcome the pain and damage his/her father caused in a childhood? You won’t want to miss this well researched and carefully constructed novel by such a talented author.

Suzanne W. Fisher

It is 1936 and Kate Merritt, the middle child of Victor and Nadine, works hard to keep her family together. As her mother tries to come to grips with their situation and her sisters seem to remain blissfully oblivious to it, it is Kate who must shoulder the emotional load. Who could imagine that a dirty, abandoned little girl named Lorena Birdsong would be just what the Merritts need?

In this richly textured novel, award-winning author Ann H. Gabhart reveals the power of true love, the freedom of forgiveness, and the strength to persevere through troubled times. The Amish Midwife (The Women of Lancaster County)

Mindy Starns Clark

Price: $1.99

I truly could not put this book down! It grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept me in suspense until the final pages. The story line and characters were extremely well written, and the spiritual insight inspired and encouraged me! I can’t wait until the next book comes out!

A dusty carved box containing two locks of hair and a century-old letter regarding property in Switzerland, and a burning desire to learn about her biological family lead nurse-midwife Lexie Jaeger from her home in Oregon to the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country. There she meets Marta Bayer, a mysterious lay-midwife who desperately needs help after an Amish client and her baby die.

Lexie steps in to assume Marta’s patient load even as she continues the search for her birth family, and from her patients she learns the true meaning of the Pennsylvania Dutch word demut, which means “to let be” as she changes from a woman who wants to control everything to a woman who depends on God.

A compelling story about a search for identity and the ability to trust that God securely holds our whole life—past, present, and future.

Any Minute: A Novel

Joyce Meyer

Price: $2.99

This book is a must read for all of us workaholics. I borrowed it from the local library and then purchased a copy to give to a friend. I pray that all who read this book, will take time to give God thanks and then spend time with their family and friends. Quality of a person’s life is much more important than money. Faith in God to provide and remember God is in control, not man.

Jazz Lover

Sarah Harper is driven to achieve success no matter what the cost. She wants to do good and not hurt the people she loves–especially children and her husband, Joe–but her desire to succeed in her career too often leaves little time for family.
One cold, autumn afternoon, all of that changes when Sarah’s car plunges off a bridge and into a river. She is presumed dead by those on the “outside,” but Sarah’s spirit is still very much alive. What she discovers on the other side transforms everything about Sarah’s view of life–past, present, and future.
When Sarah is revived, she is a changed woman. And the unsuspecting world around her will never be the same again.
