Back on Murder (A Roland March Mystery Book #1)

J. Mark Bertrand

Boasting a rich cast of compelling characters, the author weaves a complex plot and intricate subplots, exploring the depths of evil, corruption, forgiveness, and love. I eagerly await the next Roland March mystery. No serious reader of crime novels should miss this one, especially fans of authors James Lee Burke and Michael Connelly. Well done.

SJR

Det. Roland March is a homicide cop on his way out. But when he’s the only one at a crime scene to find evidence of a missing female victim, he’s given one last chance to prove himself. Before he can crack the case, he’s transferred to a new one that has grabbed the spotlight–the disappearance of a famous Houston evangelist’s teen daughter.

“Blizzard Wedding” is the final story in the three round robin short stories that feature Rachel and Luke who are engaged and have planned their wedding at a Sky Ridge Mountains lodge. It’s a beautiful location for a wedding, but unfortunately for the wedding couple and everyone else involved, all that can go wrong does go wrong.

S. Warfield

A Blizzard Wedding is a continuation of Lightning Strikes and After the Storm. Now engaged, Luke and Rachel fly to the Sky Ridge Mountains for an intimate Valentine’s Day wedding at a ski lodge. When a blizzard hits hard, their wedding is in jeopardy—will Luke be trapped in the storm, or make it to the wedding in time?

Please note: After the Storm and Lightning Strikes (also available) are short stories written in round-robin style by numerous authors of Prism Book Group during a promotional event. Each contributor had the opportunity to add a section, and take the story where they chose. The authors had a good time pulling this together! Now that the event is over, they are offering it to readers who would enjoy the opportunity to read it. It is meant as fun, merely to showcase various writing styles, and is not intended as a novel.

Afton of Margate Castle (The Theyn Chronicles)

Afton of Margate Castle (The Theyn Chronicles)

Angela Hunt

I found that I could not put the book down, and that there was plenty of action. The book was extremely detailed, and included many historial aspects that I found interesting–the fight between Stephen and Matilda, for example. I would recommend this book.

J. Peterson

Beautiful, headstrong Afton is taken from her parents at an early age and raised in the castle, a companion to the earl’s daughter. Schooled in the ways of kings and surrounded by splendor, Afton falls in love with the earl’s son, brave, Calhoun, her childhood protector.

But Calhoun’s mother, the Lady Endeline, has much different plans for him than marriage to a villein’s daughter. Suddenly Afton’s world is torn viciously apart. She is cast out of the castle, given to a man she fears and despises as a reward for his loyalty—an all too clear reminder that, for all her dreams, she is nothing but a villein.

Now all she has left is a burning desire for vengeance . . .

Time and Again

Time and Again

Deborah Heal

Price: $0.99

I really enjoyed this book – I started and could not put it down! I had to find out what happened! I appreciated the history and Christian morals that were woven so seamlessly throughout the rest of the story. I also appreciated the fact that there weren’t any inappropriate “words” or “scenes”. I can’t wait to read the next two books!

D. Thomae

Abby thinks tutoring an “an economically disadvantaged adolescent” as her college service project for the summer will be a snap.

Merrideth, her sullen 11-year-old student, thinks “No thanks, I don’t need a babysitter.”

John thinks Abby’s kidding when she tells him she can fast-forward and rewind life. Not her own, of course, but that of the girl who lived in Merrideth’s house 160 years ago.

It’s difficult for Abby to break through Merrideth’s emotional wall. The girl has been closed down ever since her parents’ divorce, especially since she was forced to move to the dilapidated old house that her mom inherited. But when her dad sends her a top-of-the-line computer to make up for it, Abby and Merrideth discover a crazy program that invites them to “Take a Virtual Tour” of houses around the world– including Merrideth’s.

It’s a tour all right… a tour of the past when the house was new and a girl named Charlotte Miles lived there. It’s like being there, only better. They know Charlotte’s thoughts and feelings. They experience her joys and frustrations as she courageously takes on a huge challenge, risking her life for others while her father is off fighting in the Civil War.

Watching from a distance, Abby and Merrideth gain a new perspective on their own lives, their faith strengthened as time and again they see God’s loving hand in Charlotte’s life.

The Mason Jar

The Mason Jar

James Russell Lingerfelt

Price: $3.95

I was pleased with the descriptive narrative that kept me engaged. Russell’s commitment to higher values comes through without being “teachy” or “preachy.” I highly recommend this book for a good read.

Robert Moehr

What if your old college roommate called, raving about a book someone sent her, calling it the most beautiful book she’s ever read? “But,” she said, “it’s about you.” The author is your college ex.

In The Mason Jar, Clayton Fincannon is a Tennessee farm boy raised at the feet of his grandfather. He and his grandfather leave letters for each other in a Mason jar on his grandfather’s desk; letters of counsel and affirmation. When Clayton attends college in Southern California, he meets and falls in love with a dark, debutante, named Savannah. However, when an unmentioned past resurrects in her life and she vanishes, Clayton is left with unanswered questions.

Clayton goes on to serve as a missionary in Africa, while he and his grandfather continue their tradition of writing letters. When Clayton returns home five years later to bury his grandfather, he searches for answers pertaining to Savannah’s disappearance. Little does Clayton know, the answers await him in the missing Mason jar.

A story about a girl who vanished, a former love who wrote a book about her, and a reunion they never imagined.

Written for all audiences, The Mason Jar brings hope to people who have experienced disappointment in life due to separation from loved ones. Written in the fresh, romantic tones of Nicholas Sparks, The Mason Jar interweaves the imagery of Thoreau with the adventures and climatic family struggles common to Dances with Wolves, A River Runs Through It, and Legends of the Fall.
