Voyage with the Vikings: 1 (AIO Imagination Station Books)

Paul McCusker, Marianne Hering

Price: FREE

This series of books will be a wonderful addition to any beginning reader’s library. Due to some of theme’s in the books (the Roman Arena) you may want to read through or at least scan through before you read the book with your younger children (say 5/6 and up) as there is mention of violence and sacrifice. You may want to use this as an opportunity to read WITH your children during family devotions, before school starts, in the car, etc – just be aware of your child’s emotional maturity and that they will have questions for you.

Tina Peterson

While visiting Mr. Whittaker at Whit’s Soda Shoppe, Beth and Patrick find a mysterious letter in the Imagination Station requesting a Viking sunstone. The letter is old and says that someone named Albert will be imprisoned if the sunstone isn’t found. Mr. Whittaker sends cousins Patrick and Beth to Greenland circa 1000. On their quest for the sunstone, the cousins meet Vikings Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson–and find the sunstone as they join Leif on his first voyage to North America. But the adventure is just beginning, for when they return to Mr. Whittaker’s workshop with the sunstone, there is another note waiting for them, requesting a silver goblet.
Join Patrick and Beth as they continue their travel to various lands and time in the Imagination Station book series.

I have a 4yr old girl & 2 yr old boy, and we all enjoyed reading this book. It’s well written, fun, light-hearted and has a great message. I love the Dad’s patience in the book in letting his boy teach him how to get dressed. It’s how we interact with our kids as well, and our kids love showing us when they’re ready. I will be looking for other books by this author.

The 4th of July Spies (Traveling Through Time to the American Revolution)

Stanley Harris

Price: FREE

My grandson loves Stanley Harris’ books so much he wants to meet him. I introduced him to the first two and he is very excited to have this new one. He takes them to school for show and tell. What a great way to get children interested in our history.

It is June of 1776, the second year of the American Revolution. The Continental Congress, meeting in Philadelphia, appoints five men to prepare a draft of a document that proclaims America’s independence from Britain. Three of the men are Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin.

Captain Benjamin Tallmadge, George Washington’s spy chief believes that the British plan to prevent this declaration of American liberty, but he doesn’t know how or when.

Tallmadge enlists four young Americans as spies to help uncover the plot. Three of the young people live in 1776. The fourth lives in the present day.

Charles Miller travels back in time to join his 18th century friends Ben Sampson, Emmy Sampson and Aaron Attucks. Each is given an assignment to stop the British from succeeding – Charles as the manservant to Thomas Jefferson, Emmy as a maid for John Adams, and Ben and Aaron working in the homes of two of the suspected plotters.

The four young people, following every lead, discover and decode a British message that exposes the conspiracy. With the help of Jacob Garter, a tailor and secret agent, and Lester Miles, a time-traveler who is more than he seems to be, they defy the British spies in a tense confrontation and prevent them from kidnapping the three American patriots. On July 4th, the Declaration Of Independence is approved by the Congress.

As he begins his journey back to the present, Charles learns that history is not always what it seems to be – that what is recorded as occurring in the past may not have been what actually happened.

All-Time Favorite Bible Stories Old Testament

Ronald A. Beers

Price: FREE

This is a definite all time favorite. I have this book in both hardback and the Kindle edition. It is great to have on my Kindle on my phone because I can read a short story to my grandchildren no matter where we are. The stories are just long enough to fill in the few minutes waiting for school to start, or to read right before bedtime. I would like to have a similar book with New Testament stories also.

Cathy S.

All-Time Favorite Bible Stories Old Testament is a collection of 36 of the favorite Bible stories of beloved storyteller V. Gilbert Beers. Each of the 36 short stories includes a graphic. This book is great for devotions, bedtime, or anytime.
