Betty Crocker 20 Best Summer Drink Recipes

Betty Crocker

Price: FREE

The recipe book was short, sweet and simple yet capable
of impressing the most finicky connoisseur. The book is divided by types of drinks and the ingredients are easy to
find if you don’t have them on on hand. The recipes are easy
to follow and give a nice variety of alcohol and non-alcohol choices. I also like that the calories for each drink is included, so if that’s a factor you have the facts. Delicious drink recipes, from your morning vanilla-soy latte, to your afternoon peachy white tea smoothie, to your evening mango margarita cocktail…good job Betty Crocker!

My Emily

Matt Patterson

Price: FREE

My Emily by Matt Patterson is a poignant tale of a precious child’s life and the people she touched during her brief time here on earth. Her Creator made her for a special purpose many years later. I knew Emily’s story would be extremely hard to read because of the many trials her family had to face during her short life. I also knew that I would be extremely blessed in reading it, but was reluctant to pick it up at the same time. I was more than rewarded!

Megan L. Scott

Honorable Award Winner – 2012 Reader’s Favorite Book Awards
Finalist – 2012 National Indie Excellence Book Awards
Finalist – 2012 Next Generation Indie Book Awards

This book tells the story of a hurting family, an amazing little girl and a mysteriously faithful God.

Emily wasn’t born perfect – so one might think.

She was born with Down Syndrome and many would jump to the conclusion that she would have very little hope for a life with any significance. Two years later came the diagnosis of leukemia. What little hope remaining turned to no hope whatsoever – or so one might think.

The life of this little girl, with all its perceived imperfections, had great meaning. Her loving nature and courage touched the hearts of everyone she met. She also taught them how to value their own lives – even with their many “imperfections.”

Note: A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will help families with special needs children, those who are battling pediatric cancers, as well as parents grieving the loss of a little one.

New Geneva Introduction to the New Testament

R.C. Sproul

This is simple, straight to the point in style and in language even us truck drivers can clearly understand to help us understand the clear message of Grace in the New Testament.. It sets forth clearly that God has accomplished in Jesus Christ, all that God requires for the redemption of me, a totally undeserving sinner. The “red thread of redemption” which traces from the Old Testament and on through the New in unbroken continuity is clearly shown in this down to earth expression of God’s Plan for building and redeeming His Bride of Christ over the Harlot, the goddess of the world system, the counterfit of the Church but who so strongly appeals to the darkened minds of natural, un-reborn mankind.
Using this little tool to examine the truth of Revelation provides the student of the Word, guidelines which would likely be missed otherwise without the aid of it.

TJ Mercer

The New Geneva Study Bible was one of the finest study Bibles of its kind–edited by R.C. Sproul and written by well-respected Reformed authors. Now out of print, the introductory materials have been collected, with permission, into two informative and easy-to-read volumes.

The New Geneva Introduction to the New Testament provides clear, concise, and theologically sound information on the background, history, genres, and themes of the New Testament, as well as an introduction to the Intertestamental Period and invaluable appendices on interpreting the Bible, Reformed theology, higher criticism, and evangelism and missions.

This volume will be valuable as a background text for anyone interested in learning more about the Bible or as a quick reference for students, preachers, or Christian ministry workers.

Concrete Garden Projects: Easy & Inexpensive Containers, Furniture, Water Features & More

Camilla Arvidsson

I VERY much enjoyed, ‘Concrete Garden Projects’ by Camilla Arvidsson and Malin Nilsson. This book will save you quite a bit of money making cool things out of cement! We’ve been doing quite a few do it yourself projects in our backyard this year.. and found out how expensive SIMPLE concrete benches cost at one’s local nurseries. After wasting precious gas driving from nursery to nursery, store to store.. we finally decided that we could handle mixing a little water with cement.. and making our OWN garden pieces!

Mamabear Cherie

For gardeners and backyard do-it-yourselfers, concrete is a revelation. It’s durable, weatherproof, impossible to steal, and it provides much-needed insulation for outdoor plants. Concrete weathers beautifully, softening around the edges, developing moss, and becoming more picturesque with age.

Concrete Garden Projects takes advantage of concrete’s numerous assets, showcasing an inspiring array of creative options. The step-by-step instructions for dozens of easy, do-it-yourself décor ideas include containers of all shapes and sizes, elegant benches and stools, miniature ponds and birdbaths, stepping stones, a barbecue, and a fire pit. The authors use a variety of molds easily found or made, household items like bowls and baking pans, and simple wooden frames and boxes. At pennies per pound, and so simple to use — just mix with water and pour — concrete is the key to hand-crafted backyard décor.

Eat to Lose, Eat to Win: Your Grab-n-Go Action Plan for a Slimmer, Healthier You

Rachel Beller

Great book. It tackled my entire philosphy on eating. I read it in the throes of diet dispair. I’m one of those who eats healthy most of the time, and yet can never lose any weight. I hoped it wasn’t another of those “Simply eat bland food and consume fewer calories than you burn with excercise” books. Yeah, easier said than done! That’s like telling a nicotine addict to simply not smoke. (And you can’t quit food cold turkey…)
This book gets you thinking about little things that even the most health-minded among us do to sabotage our diets. (Like using a dessert sized portion of dried fruit and candied nuts as salad toppers) The wakeup calls are scary and amusing, and the fixes sound so appetizing that I can’t wait to go to the store to put them into practice.

MW

In Eat to Lose, Eat to Win, celebrity nutritionist Rachel Beller (of Biggest Loser fame) takes a basic tenet of weight loss—eat the “right” foods—and makes it easy to achieve. No more writing lists or memorizing “approved” foods—an extensive, take-it-with-you, full-color look-and-shop guide shows actual products, making purchasing healthy foods and sticking to a nutritious eating plan straightforward and undemanding. Eat to Lose, Eat to Win is sensible and real-world ready with practical tips on how to best incorporate the latest nutritional recommendations—such as fiber, Omega-3, protein, and antioxidants—into a healthy diet. Filled with recipes for simple-to-prepare meals and snacks, as well as common-sense suggestions, this is a must-have tool for anyone looking for motivation to change to a healthier lifestyle.

The Homesick Texan Cookbook

Lisa Fain

You don’t have to be a homesick Texan to appreciate Lisa Fain’s evocative, unpretentious prose and her accompanying seriously delicious (and easy to make) recipes.

Ed Levine, founder, SeriousEats.com

When Lisa Fain, a seventh-generation Texan, moved to New York City, she missed the big sky, the bluebonnets in spring, Friday night football, and her family’s farm. But most of all, she missed the foods she’d grown up with.

After a fruitless search for tastes of Texas in New York City, Fain took matters into her own hands. She headed into the kitchen to cook for her friends the Tex-Mex, the chili, and the country comfort dishes that reminded her of home. From cheese enchiladas drowning in chili gravy to chicken-fried steak served with cream gravy on the side, from warm bowls of chile con queso to big pots of fiery chili made without beans, Fain re-created the wonderful tastes of Texas she’d always enjoyed at potlucks, church suppers, and backyard barbecues back home.

In 2006, Fain started the blog Homesick Texan to share Texan food with fellow expatriates, and the site immediately connected with readers worldwide, Texan and non-Texan alike. Now, in her long-awaited first cookbook, Fain brings the comfort of Texan home cooking to you.

Like Texas itself, the recipes in this book are varied and diverse, all filled with Fain’s signature twists. There’s SalpicÓn, a cool shredded beef salad found along the sunny border in El Paso; Soft Cheese Tacos, a creamy plate unique to Dallas; and Houston-Style Green Salsa, an avocado and tomatillo salsa that is smooth, refreshing, and bright. There are also nibbles, such as Chipotle Pimento Cheese and Tomatillo JalapeÑo Jam; sweet endings, such as Coconut Tres Leches Cake and Mexican Chocolate Chewies; and fresh takes on Texan classics, such as Coffee-Chipotle Oven Brisket, Ancho Cream Corn, and Guajillo-Chile Fish Tacos.

With more than 125 recipes, The Homesick Texan offers a true taste of the Lone Star State. So pull up a chair—everyone’s welcome at the Texas table!
