What girl doesn’t dream of a romance with a dashing rather mysterious Scottish lord? An expense paid vacation, a chance encounter with a Scot and an unexpected job offer make this an enjoyable read. Edwina is a charming story about the unexpected romance of a small town librarian who finds love when she least expects it. Edwina is set to accompany her step-sister on vacation to Scotland when her traveling companion is unexpectedly called away. Our unlikely heronie finds herself stranded and alone in a foreign country until she is rescued by a handsome if rather mysterious Scot who sweeps her off to his castle. What follows this romantic rescue is an adventure that sends our unexpected heroine’s life in a direction that she never anticpated. Written in a style similar to Jane Peart this book from a new author is a must try for lovers of clean Christian romance.

Saving Gideon: A Clover Ridge Novel

Amy Lillard

This novel gives truth and honesty to that inner struggle in a way I believe most can relate to. Their story made me envy the simple life of the Amish and how less complicated things seem for them. However, they still suffer loss and sorrow like the rest of us. Gideon and Annie struggle to find their way through despair into hope. Annie helps Gideon find the desire to go on with life again and makes him happy in the simplest of ways. As each faces their unwanted futures apart, can they find a way to be together?
Lillard wrote a beautiful story about hope that never ends and faith that can pull you through even the worst of circumstances. It was refreshing in its simplicity and depth instead of unnecessary twists and turns that take away from the story. It seems a lot of romance books I read start with a love/hate relationship and tension that they finally stop fighting. This was such a refreshingly honest love story without all the pretense.

Gideon Fisher wants one thing out of life — to be left alone. This is not the Amish way, but he’s devastated after the death of his wife and son to the point of losing his faith. He buys a farm on the outskirts of the district and pulls away from his community. But when a freak spring snowstorm brings a beautiful Englisher to his farm, what choice does Gideon have but to let her in?

Dallas socialite Avery Ann Hamilton is intrigued by the Amish farmer who pulls her out of the snow and into his austere lifestyle. Poor little rich girl, Avery has just gone through (yet another) bad breakup. Every man she meets only wants her for her father’s money. All she has ever wanted is to be loved for herself. Avery soon discovers the Oklahoma Amish country is the perfect place to hide out and heal her broken heart.

But she finds a peace in those back roads that she’s never felt before. Now her life has purpose and meaning as she connects with God and those around her. And there’s something more as she begins to care for this man who needs both love and forgiveness.

Gideon never wanted to live again much less fall in love, but Avery finds her way into his heart, showing him the beauty of life and God’s greatness. Yet as the feelings between Avery and Gideon grow, can they overcome their dissimilar lifestyles, or will their sheer differences pull them apart?

  1. “Noble Cause” is not Christian fiction. I downloaded it some time ago and was unhappily surprised with an immoral sexual situation toward the end of the book.
