Accidental Meeting

I give this book a 5 star rating and recommend it to my friends and all those who enjoy a Christian novel with a great sense of humor. We all have days when everything starts out bad and keeps getting worse. Most of us me included just get grumpy and complain. But in this book, Abbey is looking for the good in the bad. As the Bible says all things work together for the good for those who love the Lord. Well in this book it definitely worked for the good for Abbey and Bruce. I laughed and laughed and it made me take a look inside myself to know when things aren’t going right to make sure I have the right attitude.

Sharma Darby

Abbey Martin isn’t willing to be the kind of ‘player’ her boss wants her to be. When he threatens to not promote her because she refuses to get in ‘compromising’ positions, she quits.

If a day can go from bad to worse, it does for Abbey. She runs into Bruce Harrington on her way home—literally.

Bruce Harrington was on his way to a very important meeting. That was until a raving lunatic with brown, bouncy hair spiraled towards him in her car and then on foot. Maybe he should count it a blessing that when she sent him cascading over the side of the embankment—he wasn’t in his car.

To make amends for causing Bruce to break a leg, Abbey becomes his chauffeur and helpmate until he recovers.

When his cast is about to come off he has to face losing Abbey. There has to be some way he can keep her from walking out of his life forever. If a job offer won’t do it then perhaps it’s time for a proposal.

Candle in the Darkness (Refiner’s Fire Book #1)

This was an excellent historical novel. Caroline was a wonderful and very human character who came alive through her first-person narrative. Her struggles felt very real to me. The author brought to life Virginia just before and during the Civil War very well. Although this book was very long, I never lost interest in it. My one complaint is that the final thirty pages were told in a third-person point of view. I would have liked the whole book to be narrated by Caroline; it felt odd after four hundred pages for the viewpoint to change. However, it doesn’t really take away from the book that much; overall, I still loved it. I highly recommend this novel to adults and older teens who enjoy historical fiction about the Civil War.

Rebecca Herman

Book 1 in the Refiner’s Fire series. The daughter of a wealthy slave-holding family from Richmond, Virginia, Caroline Fletcher is raised in a culture that believes slavery is God-ordained and biblically acceptable. But upon awakening to the cruelty and injustice it encompasses, Caroline’s eyes are opened for the first time to the men and women who have cared tirelessly for her. Her journey of maturity and faith will draw her into the abolitionist movement, where she is confronted with the risks and sacrifices her beliefs entail.

prince

Once Upon a Prince (Royal Wedding Series)

Rachel Hauck

What a fun and well crafted modern fairy tale. There is the damsel in distress. There is (literally) the prince who comes to her aid. There is even a fairy Godmother, of sorts, in the quirky character of Aurora.
There is the typical romance problem. He is the king of (fictional) Brighton and the country has had a law for two hundred years that the king cannot marry someone not born in Brighton. Hauck really heightens the anxiety as conditions back in Brighton are not helping Nate and Susanna’s romance at all.
This was a delightful novel to read. In addition to the traditional issues in a romance novel, Hauck also tackles the concept of being in love with an idea, rather than the person, and whether one marries out of (political) responsibility or love.

Joan N.

Once Upon a Prince, the first novel in the Royal Wedding series by best-selling author Rachel Hauck, treats you to a modern-day fairy tale.
Susanna Truitt never dreamed of a great romance or being treated like a princess—just to marry the man she has loved for twelve years. But life isn’t going according to plan. When her high-school-sweetheart-turned-Marine-officer breaks up instead of proposing, Susanna scrambles to rebuild her life.
The last thing Prince Nathaniel expects to find on his American holiday to St. Simons Island is the queen of his heart. A prince has duties, and his family’s tense political situation has chosen his bride for him. When Prince Nathaniel comes to Susanna’s aid under the fabled Lover’s Oak, he is blindsided by love.
Their lives are worlds apart. He’s a royal prince. She’s an ordinary girl. But everything changes when Susanna receives an invitation to Nathaniel’s coronation.
It’s the ultimate choice: His kingdom or her heart? God’s will or their own?
‘This is classic romance at its very best.’ —DEBBIE MACOMBER
‘[A] surprisingly believable royal-meets-commoner love story. With only a subtle nod to Cinderella, this modern and engaging tale follows the budding relationship of an American Southern girl and a pseudo-Brit prince . . . Hauck fans will find a gem of a tale.’ —Publishers Weekly STARRED REVIEW for Once Upon a Prince

Rescue Team (Grace Medical)

Candace Calvert

Can Candace Calvert tell a story! Her personal experience in medical care adds great depth to the novel, but it is her faith and her heart that makes “Rescue Team” her best book ever!

Deena Peterson

Tired of running from her past, nurse Kate Callison intends to become Austin Grace Hospital’s permanent ER director and make Texas her home. Despite staff friction, she’s moving ahead. Then unthinkable tragedy wraps the ER in crime tape, bringing swarms of media, legal chaos—and a search-and-rescue hero who seems determined to meddle in her life.

For Wes Tanner, nothing beats finding someone who’s lost; he’s known that helpless terror firsthand. So he’ll expand his team’s lifeline of hope: K9 tracking, swift water rescue, even horse-mounted searches. He’s ready for anything—except Austin Grace’s prickly and dismissive ER director.

As Kate and Wes discover more about each other, new respect becomes something deeper. Kate wonders if her heart might have finally found a home. Then an unsolved missing persons case—and a startling new one—become catalysts that threaten the loss of all she and Wes have found.
