Ginny Dye takes very ordinary people, places them in the extraordinary time of the pre-Civil War era, and creates a world that is simultaneously understandable and monumental. This is a great book and a fun read. I’m looking forward to the future adventures in the series, because I have really begun caring about these characters! The book is profound without being preachy and offers a fresh look at a time and place that has been scrutinized for 150 years.
Storm Clouds Rolling In is the very first book in the ongoing Bregdan Chronicles historical novel series. It’s readers like you who have turned it into a world-wide best-seller. Thank you!
Book Description:Carrie Cromwell comes of age as the dark clouds of the Civil War swallow the country. Born with a fiery spirit and a strong mind, she finds herself struggling between the common wisdom of the South and the truth she has discovered.
The activities of the Underground Railroad and her close friendships with the Cromwell Plantation slaves create difficult choices. But when her decisions put her at odds with her heritage, and challenge her dreams, will she be able to give up all that is precious to her?
This first book of The Bregdan Chronicles historical fiction series will pull you in and never let you go.You’ll experience the Civil War era (and all the years to come) through the eyes of both White and Black, free & slave, Southern & Northern -and you’ll fall in love with every character.
How many books will be in the Bregdan Chronicles? You’ll have to ask God about that… I intend to write these character’s stories, one year at a time, for as long as I’m able to write. I’m passionate about bringing history to life through historical fiction. Since I’m amazingly healthy, that could be for a very long time! I don’t like stories to end any more than you do. This one won’t end for a very long time!
Review: What a wonderful role model for women of all ages. Ginny Dye’s cast of characters are the kind of people you’d like to know personally. Her leading lady, Carrie Cromwell is not your typical ‘Southern Belle’; she’s a free thinker, ahead of her time in a world of war and madness. Our author is not afraid to use divine, spiritual beliefs to bring common sense and sanity to the backward, inhumane thinking of the times leading up to the Civil War. The fact that these characters, now friends, will be with us for more than one historical fiction book, is something to look foward to. Now into book four, with many more to come, I’ll be reading the entire epic for as long as our author can write and I can read !!
Review: Really enjoyed this book. I’m not usually a reader of American historical fiction, but this one was terrific. I couldn’t put the book down. I can’t wait to read the next one.

The story idea grabbed me long before I ever read it, but to be honest I was a little disappointed in the first chapter or two. I’m telling you this so that if you feel the same way, do what I did…KEEP READING. By the third or fourth chapter the nuances of plot and character were apparent, and I was completely captivated. By the time I was half-way through the book I’d begun to think of the characters as my own family members, and found myself wondering how they were going–and wanting to pray for them—while I was at work. By the time I was almost at the end I knew that I didn’t want it ever to finish, and still, in the days after I finished it, these characters are still on my mind.
Patti Hill has created a masterfully told story in Goodness and Mercy, that shows so beautifully the love of God, the complexity of family ties and the intricacies of pain and longing in the human heart. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.
After the death of her parents, sixteen-year-old Lucy Richter struggles to keep a promise to her father–to save what remains of her family. Lucy fails tragically but won’t allow her dwindling family to disappear. She shanghais her twin siblings, Goody and Mercy, from a Wisconsin orphanage to a Colorado peach ranch and an aunt who is a less-than-welcoming stranger. Lucy is prepared to keep the peace with her aunt, but will her sister’s gifts draw unwanted attention and crush Lucy’s dream of family?
And World War II rages on. Absent men strain the running of Honey Sweet Ranch and force alliances of the most intriguing and unlikely kind, including German POWs. Within these relationships, Lucy is given the chance to discover an unfamiliar and healing faith.
With her defining style, Patti Hill tells a story of love and loss with one of America’s darkest times as a backdrop. Hill’s characters resonate, and her descriptions draw the reader into a drama that is perfectly paced and infused with a wondrous hope.
“…Goodness & Mercy is one of the most startlingly beautiful novels I’ve ever read…Poignant and real, this book touches a deep chord in the human experience.” Traci DePree, author of the “Lake Emily” series

The Train Stops Here (Truly Yours Digital Editions)
Price: 99 cents
Due to the Great Depression and circumstances, Elliot is forced to ride the trains as a hobo. At one stop, he scampers off to eat wild strawberries. He comes face to face with Louise, daughter of a railroad lineman foreman. What follows is a well written love story by Ms Sattler. She also points out how many millions of dreams, like Elliot who wanted to be a mathematician, were dashed due to the Depression. I highly recommend this book.

It is amazing what Colleen Coble can do in a short novel. I have not read the series before but I got interested in this novella from hearing about it. Now I want to read the read the rest of the series. I loved the characters! They were so realistic and relatable. The plot was also great. Kade, Bree, Laurai work together to solve a mystery about a missing woman and a man who died skydiving. It was quite a page turner and I finished it in a few hours. The ending was also very sweet and heart warming. Even if you’ve never read the series before read this novella! You won’t regret it!
Bree Matthews is preparing for Christmas guests, but her heart is reeling from the recent and tender loss of her unborn child. Her sister-in-law, Lauri, suddenly turns up on the doorstep of the lighthouse home Bree shares with her husband, Kade, in Rock Harbor. Secretive and withdrawn, Lauri seems curiously intent on discovering what happened to a parachuter who disappeared in the North Woods along Lake Superior’s icy shore.
As Bree and Samson, her search-and-rescue dog, plunge into the search, Bree wonders if Lauri may know more than she’s admitted about the parachuter. And then the clues lead them to the trail of a young woman whose family fears the worst about her disappearance.
Will the search on this snowy, silent night lead Bree and Samson to more than clues about the missing girl? And will Bree’s prayer for a baby ever be answered?
