What child wouldn’t love this book? A catchy, fun rhyming story line with bright, extraordinary artwork. Plus, the word “piggy” just makes kids giggle! This book belongs in every child’s home library with its basic thread of core friendship and good times. “Cupcake and Scooter” will become your fast favorite and would make an excellent gift for the special children in your life. A noticeable cut above most children’s books out there.
Review from Little Red Reads: “What a cute little rhyming book. The piggy illustrations are adorable. The story tells of two little piggies, Scooter and Cupcake, who have learned how to share everything they have with each other and how much fun it is. They love each other and wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a great little book for teaching our young ones the joy of sharing with each other and the happiness it brings.”

The rhyming in this tale is very good. This story portrays
how silly some arguements are. It depicts how two individuals
often perceive things differently. There are also good examples
of controlling one’s temper and in being gracious even when
others aren’t humble in their attitudes.
This is a fairly easy reader.
25 pages, fully illustrated, for emergent readers, wonderful on color devices but also works in black and white!

Parents on the qui vive for deeper stories to share with their children need look no further than Katherine Applegate’s tale, “The One and Only Ivan”, written from the perspective of a Silverback gorilla living in a shopping mall.
Too many children are sheltered from animals, left to draw their experiences from animated movies like Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and Alvin and the Chipmunks. What’s missing from those stories? Humanity and tenderness; qualities you will find in abundance in this book.
Instead, Ivan thinks about TV shows he’s seen and about his friends Stella, an elderly elephant, and Bob, a stray dog. But mostly Ivan thinks about art and how to capture the taste of a mango or the sound of leaves with color and a well-placed line.
Then he meets Ruby, a baby elephant taken from her family, and she makes Ivan see their home—and his own art—through new eyes. When Ruby arrives, change comes with her, and it’s up to Ivan to make it a change for the better.
Katherine Applegate blends humor and poignancy to create Ivan’s unforgettable first-person narration in a story of friendship, art, and hope.
