pursuit

The Pursuit (The English Garden)

Lori Wick

Price: 99 cents

The Pursuit had much more action than the rest of the English Garden Series but still kept the charm that all the books had.
Widowed Niki Bettencourt is trying to keep her sons away from her manipulative mother-in-law. On the way she meets Edward Steele, who helps her out of jam, and then they part company.
Later, in the town of Collingbourne, they run across each other again when Niki is staying with an old family friend. Edward starts calling on Niki for curiosity’s sake until the curiosity turns into love.
Lori Wick ties up all the ends nicely and brings this remarkable series to a close in the wonderful book, the Pursuit

Hooray for Lori Wick! This book was so good! I loved it! I read it in a day flat. I loved the personalities of Robert and Anne, and I loved the way Lori brought them together in the end. This was a very relaxing and enjoyable book completely different from most of the books that Lori has written. I do highly recommend this one.

The Visitor

Lori Wick

Price: $1.99

If you’ve read and enjoyed any of Jane Austin’s novels, you will delight in Lori Wick’s “The Visitor.” This is the third book in her “English Garden” series and although it easily stands alone, readers will be enticed to read book 1 and 2. Wick’s characters and dialogue are realistic and appropriate for the 1812 period of time in England. This is my first Lori Wick novel but It made me a fan and I intend to seek out more from this accomplished author.

The Hawk and the Jewel

Lori Wick

Price: $3.82

After wearing out the copy at my local library, I decided it was time to buy my own copy of The Hawk and the Jewel. It was well worth it as I have read it many times since. I have been a reader my entire life, but Lori Wick is by far the most captivating author I have ever read. Perhaps it is because I should have been born in the eighteenth century, but Wick’s series “Kensington Chronicles,” from which this book comes, is one to read over and over.

Set in the English days of dukes and duchesses, peasants and servants, this novel relates the story of a young girl named Sunny and her coming to grips with herself, the Lord, and love. You will be captured into the moving story as Sunny learns that her family is not what she thought it was and is thrust into a new life completely different from anything she has ever known. You will feel Brandon’s compassion as he watches Sunny try to cope with the hurt and betrayal she feels. You will rejoice with her family when she comes to know the Lord, and cry with her when she feels the knife of rejection. You will laugh at her spirited ideas, and feel the magic surrounding her as she grows older. You will experience Brandon’s pain as his life seems to come crashing around him, and want to hold Holly as she deals with an unrequited love. If you are a lover of fairy tales, or simply want to get lost in a good story, allow Lori Wick to take you back a few hundred years and live in England for awhile. You will fall in love with it.

Lauren Blake

The first in the newly repackaged Kensington Chronicles series, The Hawk and the Jewel sweeps readers from the tapestried halls of Victorian England to the alabaster courts of Arabia.

Everyone thought little Sunny had perished with Lady Gallagher in storm–tossed seas off the Arabian coast, but the beautiful toddler had been found, taken to the palace of Darhabar, and raised as the ruler’s own child. Now the emir, Ahmad Khan, is sending her home, and Sunny’s uncertain, new life is completely in God’s hands.

This classic series, which has sold more than 375,000copies, has a fresh, new look sure to please Lori Wick’s longtime fans and readers just discovering the treasure of a great story.

wings

Wings of the Morning (Kensington Chronicles)

Lori Wick

Price: $1.99

Lori Wick certainly is one of my favorite Christian/Romance writers, coming up to a close second to Dee Henderson. And probably my favorite books from Lori Wick are the Kensington Chronicles.

“Wings of the Morning” is about young Victoria “Smokey” Simmons, captain of one of the fastest ship of the Atlantic, the ‘Aramis’. When her father, the famous Clancy, had died and left her alone in the world, she asks God to give her strength. Three years have passed and Smokey begins dreaming of life away from the sea. She wants to have a home and raise a family. When she meets another sea captain, Dallas Knight, she believes that her dreams can finally come true. Dallas, also hopelessly in love with her, shares her dreams. But when a scheming and evil pirate comes into their lives, Smokey and Dallas’ hopes for the future may come to an end. Will they have the strength to overcome these painful events and to trust themselves into their Father in heaven?

Priscilla Stafford

Victoria“Smokey” Simmons stands silently on deck as her father’s body is lowered into the Atlantic, asking God for the strength she will need to command the Aramisalone. Not wanting to remain at sea forever, Smokey dreams of the time when she can trade her life aboard ship for a home and family. When she meets another captain, Dallas Knight, Smokey believes her dream will finally come true. But circumstances beyond their control and the schemes of a cunning pirate threaten to destroy this young couple’s hope for the future.

Wings of the Morning carries readers on a tender journey of love in which painful events become lasting blessings in the Father’s care.

The Knight and the Dove

Lori Wick

Price: $1.99

This is the third book in this series that I have read and it is my favorite. The story was so well-written that I felt as if I was actually transported back to the middle-ages. Even though Mrs. Wick is criticized for creating “unbelievable” characters in many of her books, I felt that in this particular book the characters were more than believable. I enjoyed her consistancy as there is nothing I dislike more than to read a book that is to take place during a particular period of time but the language or the “scenery” is not of that time frame.

Vicki Williamson

When the king commands Bracken to marry, high–spirited Megan is chosen to fulfill the edict. Unskilled in the ways of love, Bracken finds Megan captivating, yet cannot seem to voice his feelings until he almost loses her forever.
