Chocolate from the Cake Mix Doctor

Anne Byrn

Price: $2.51

Now there are times when we can’t prepare something from scratch, and this book is perfect for those times. By adding a few extra ingredients that are readily available in your pantry, you can turn somethin ordinary into something people will rave about, and beg you for the recipe. Meanwhile you have accomplished this with a boxed cake mix, and things you normally have in the pantry. I like this book more than the first book, as well it has one of the things that I enjoy the most…. Chocolate. This book is packed with all sorts of recipes for cake(Chocolate Sour Cream Cake), brownies (Kaluhua Cream Cheese Brownies), and many other tasty creations. The book is well written, easy to read and filled with serving suggestions and so much more. I would highly recommend this book to you if you are looking for something a little special.

The Case for Christ: A Journalist’s Personal Investigation of the Evidence for Jesus

Lee Strobel

Price: $2.99

Like many American Christians, I was brought to church most Sundays and endured countless sermons and lessons. Despite this seemingly rich education on Christian principles, I never was exposed to a lesson or class on the existence of God; God’s existence was assumed as fact. As I matured into my twenties and went to college, the existance of God was no longer taken for granted. I encountered many agnostics and atheists among my many college professors. The net result of their influence was to question my faith in the existance of God. I never lost my faith, but I found it was a faith that could not withstand scrutiny.
Reading Lee Stobel’s “The Case For Christ” began in me my search for the certainty of my faith. Strobel’s book is an excellent place to start. He presents interviews with several Christian apologetics that involve issues related to the veracity of the Biblical account of Christ, the Son of God.

Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God? Retracing his own spiritual journey from atheism to faith, Lee Strobel, former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, cross-examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools like Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandies who are recognized authorities in their fields. Strobel challenges them with questions like How reliable is the New Testament? Does evidence exist for Jesus outside the Bible? Is there any reason to believe the resurrection was an actual event? Strobel’s tough, point-blank questions make this remarkable book read like a captivating, fast-paced novel. But it’s not fiction. It’s a riveting quest for the truth about history’s most compelling figure. What will your verdict be in The Case for Christ?

Five Conversations You Must Have with Your Daughter

Vicki Courtney

Price: 99 cents

Reading this book has not only opened my eyes to the huge lies that society is forcing down our throats; but it has helped me to realize that I have been involved in teaching them to my own daughter! Mostly because I, too, have believed many of these lies; however, now that I see the truth, I am thankful that my own daughters are young enough that I can train them up in the ways of the Lord and teach them to save themselves–physically and emotionally–for a man who deserves them!
I would recommend this book to anyone with daughters and even to any female at all; undoubtedly, all females are helping to shape the lives of young girls around them. Whether they be neighbors, church members, neices or friend’s daughters, this book is a clear, concise explanation of what has happened to society over the years, and further–how we can improve it!

Christian Rose

In it, bestselling author and youth culture expert Vicki Courtney helps moms pinpoint and prepare the discussions that need to be ongoing from cradle to college so their daughters will know the truth about life before they believe the culture’s lies. To fully address the dynamic issues and influencers at hand, several chapters are written for each of the conversations, which are: 1. You are more than the sum of your parts 2. Don’t be in such a hurry to grow up 3. Sex is great . . . and worth the wait 4. It’s OK to dream about marriage and motherhood 5. Girls gone wild are a dime a dozen—dare to be virtuous The book also includes invaluable tips on having each conversation across the various stages of development: five and under, six to eleven, twelve and up.”
