Valley of Chaya

Tracey Hoffman

Price: FREE

A wonderful read from beginning to end! Tracy Hoffmann did an amazing job showing the reality of trafficking without being too graphic, yet still not watering it down, as it is a very real and very heartbreaking plight of so many in our world. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone, especially those who are not familiar with human trafficking. Great book!

Julie Griffon

This book starts with an intensity that keeps you on the edge of your seat!
A short read, (I read it in one evening) this is a sweet Christian story that reminds us that you never know where you’ll meet your next best friend or your lifelong partner! I love the prayers in this book and the way the characters trust God despite their situations!
I just bought a second book by the author! Hoping it’s just as good!

Jed Leida enjoys his job as a taxi driver as he pays his way through law school. He picks up a lot of interesting people and drives them to locations all over New York. But when pregnant Sadie Walker jumps into his cab one morning, he instantly feels a connection with her as he looks into her eyes through the rear view mirror.

After a few moments of their drive, however, Sadie goes into labor and has her baby right there in the back of his cab. When Sadie is carted off to the hospital without Jed ever catching her name, he figures that is the end of their story, but he simply can’t let go.

Once they re-connect, their feelings begin to grow but then, the baby’s father enters the picture. Can they overcome past secrets and find the love that God meant for them to have with one another?

Mail Order Millie

Katie Crabapple

Price: FREE

Though I have just recently been introduced to Katie Crabapple and her works.
I highly recommend “Mail order Millie” and look forward to many more books form her.
From the very beginning the author allows her readers the opportunity to relate with Millie and the hardships she has faced living in an orphanage and not being sure of what life held for her once she turned eighteen.
I loved how Millie was shown in a loving manner that even a simple bend of the truth is in fact going against God’s word.
This book grabbed a hold of me from the very beginning. Anxiously waiting the turn of the page. I found it difficult to put down until I had finished its entirety.

George has a hard time dealing with his farm and his four children after the death of his wife. When the ladies at his church raise money for a mail order bride for him, he doesn’t argue with them. He needs a caretaker for his family. Millie has a short time to find her own way in the world before she is kicked out of the orphanage where she was raised. George’s letter about his requirements for a bride fit in all ways but one. Will her lie keep them apart even after they’re married?

Just Jane

Nancy Moser

Price: 99 cents

The real proof of the excellence of this book comes at the end. When the story ended and I read the note about how and when Jane had died, I had tears streaming down my face. After having gotten to know her “in her own words” (so to speak, since the book was written in first-person narrative), I was just struck with sadness to think that she is really gone. I mean, OF COURSE we all know that Jane Austen died. But “Just Jane” made her life seem so much more REAL than the little blurbs about her that we can always read in the fronts of her few published novels. It was like reading “The Diary of Anne Frank,” quite honestly. Like Anne, Jane had become a friend; it’s terrible when a friend dies.

In this moving and authentic portrayal, Christy Award-winning author Nancy Moser transports readers back to the life and times of one of the literary world’s beloved heroines, Jane Austen. Growing up in a clergyman’s home gives Jane opportunities to observe human nature at its best—and worst. Vivid and delightful characters pour from her pen—Elizabeth Bennet, Fitzwilliam Darcy, Emma Woodhouse, Fanny Price, John Willoughby. . . . Jane dreams of publishing her stories and sharing them with the world, but how can she? She’s just Jane from Steventon. Will anyone ever read her novels?

Journey of Hope: A Novel of Triumph and Heartbreak on the Oregon Trail in 1852

Victoria Murata

Price: $2.99

I love books about the Oregon trail. Mainly because my family too came west from Iowa to Oregon in the 1800’s. Murata had good insight into the trail and her research was great. I was with her each step of the way and knew the places she described from family stories in my possession. highly recommend this book.

Dora M. Gourley

It’s 1852, the year of the largest migration of people leaving the states and traveling by wagon train from Missouri to the Oregon Territory. The two thousand mile journey takes six months across the vast panorama of America’s wild west.
