Accidentally Amish (Valley of Choice)

Olivia Newport

Price: $2.99

I enjoyed reading Accidentally Amish. I like the way the stories move right along. The characters are interesting and have unique personalities. I especially like the historical story about Jakob and Verona, who along with their five children, left Switzerland and came to American seeking religious freedom. The hardships they endured with resolution, for their faith, are difficult to imagine.
A common theme running through both stories is how to live your faith, stay true to your God and then accept the results of those decisions. The author did a great job in addressing this question.

Escape the helter-skelter of the modern culture and join software creator Annie Friesen, hiding at the home of an Amishman. With her high-tech career in jeopardy, Annie runs from fast-paced Colorado Springs—and straight into the hospitality of San Luis Valley’s Amish community. There she meets cabinetmaker Rufus Beiler, and the more time she spends with him, the more attracted she becomes. When Annie finds she shares a common ancestor with Rufus, she feels both cultures colliding within her. But is her love for Rufus strong enough for her to give up the only life she’s ever known?

Summer Dream (Seasons of the Heart)

Martha Rogers

Price: $1.99

Summer Dream is still a great story that is filled with compelling and interesting characters along with a spiritual message that we all could use to hear now and again. I am looking forward to reading book 2, Autumn Song!

The first book in the Seasons of the Heart series is set in Connecticut in 1888, the year of what historians call “The White Hurricane.” The story reveals the power of God’s love to change lives and heal hearts. Summer Dream tells of a young couple’s love for each other and the obstacles that stand in their path of happiness. Until Nathan Reed resolves his anger with God and his family, he has no hopes of courting Rachel Winston, the minister’s daughter.

As the daughter of a small-town minister in Connecticut, Rachel Winston believes the only way she’ll ever have a husband is to visit her aunt in Boston for the social season until Nathan Reed arrives in town. Although attracted to Rachel, Nathan avoids her because he has no desire to become involved with a Christian after experiences with his own family. When a devastating blizzard paralyzes New England, Nathan is caught in it and lies near death in the Winston home. Through the ministrations and tender care of Rachel and her mother, Nathan learns a lesson in love and forgiveness that leads him back to his home in the South. Before he can declare his love for Rachel, he must make amends with his own family. Will he return to Connecticut before Rachel leaves her home to head west as a missionary in Oklahoma Territory?

J. Heather Leigh

Price: 99 cents

“Unplanned” was a surprisingly refreshing novelette which revealed the inner workings of the mind of a young woman during her journey into accepting God’s, her family’s, her friends’ and her church’s love for her after making a mistake. Pregnancy out of marraige for a young Christian woman is so public that the fear and expectations of judgement are commonly assumed to occur in every situation. I liked how she discovered the truth about making plans for her life without God’s wisdom and input and then being willing to share that with the young people in her church.
It deals with real life situations and I liked how her pastor and church board showed wisdom in their forgiveness. We can learn alot…

McKenna thought she’d endured the worst humiliation imaginable when she was left at the altar. Then, a single night of bad judgment leads to even more shameful consequences.

Embarrassed, she fears the rejection of her friends and family.

Will her church turn their backs on her in a time when she most needs mercy and compassion?

Smart and sassy, Let Them Eat Cake is an enjoyable story about a woman who can’t get anything right until she gets right with God. Good Chick-Lit that will keep the reader smiling. And the recipes are good too.
