Allerednic: A Regency Cinderella Tale–In Reverse

Chautona Havig

Price: 99 cents

I enjoyed this creative reversal of Cinderella. I am sure the “rags” part of the riches to rags story would have been much harder than portrayed, but the story line was inventive as well as sneaking a few morals in on us! Thanks for a fun, clean, imaginative read.

Faith Alwaise

Lady Charlotte Eversley, heir of the Earl of Everston, has lived a charmed life. Wealthy, beautiful, and one day she will be a Countess in her own right. No mother has ever loved a daughter more. Her sisters admire and adore her, and of course, her father dotes on her. She is one of the most eligible ladies of the Season.

Mr. Jasper Seyton misses the country. Along with his trusted servant, Worley, he endures the delights of Town for one purpose. After three Seasons, he has little confidence in the so-called “Marriage Mart.”

They enjoy each other’s company, and her father approves. She knows he intends to propose. He knows that she will accept.

So where is she when he returns to Everston Hall, and why does she think there is no hope for happiness again?

Allerednic: Cinderella–reversed.

Nadia’s Hope

Lisa Buffaloe

Price: FREE

The nightmares continue…Nadia must make a choice. What a good book! Will Nadia forgive, heal…take revenge? Excellently written and compassionately told. Nadia’s Hope deals with a heavy topic, rape. Even so, it is handled in such a manner that you don’t feel burdened or depressed. God is definitely glorified and the story itself is engaging and enjoyable. I would suggest this book to anyone who is dealing with pain in their past–but I think it would be just as beneficial to a reader who knows someone else who has scars and wants to understand.
I’ve read plenty of books that don’t deal with such a difficult subject and still leave you feeling unsatisfied, overwhelmed. Nadia’s Hope has accomplished what many books try–engaging story and redemptive theme.

The nightmares continue. Memories won’t heal. Nadia must make a choice.

Nadia Minsky fled Israel to escape her past, but she can’t outrun her nightmares. The throbbing scars along her hip and stomach are cruel reminders of shattered dreams. Even though surgeons mended her body, her spirit still bleeds. Friends claim only God can heal her. For Nadia, trusting a God who allowed her to suffer is inconceivable.

Can close friends, a wild roommate, and a handsome medical student help Nadia learn to trust? Or will she chose to allow her past to forever cripple her future?

The Heart’s Journey: Stitches in Time Series #2

Barbara Cameron

Price: FREE

I thoroughly enjoyed this second book in Barbara’s Stitches in Time series. I enjoyed both settings: Paradise, PA, and Pinecraft, FL. It was a treat to get to know Leah and her three granddaughters better. I was drawn to both Naomi and Nick for different reasons. Nick is a great person, but his loneliness after work gets to him. Naomi needs to rebuild her shattered self-esteem in order not to repeat prior bad choices. She learns that emotional wounds heal much more slowly than physical wounds do. So many Amish books’ plots are just fluff, but Barbara isn’t afraid to tackle tough topics full of complications, just like the real world. The difference is that you’re still left feeling hopeful when you’re done reading the story. The vacation Nick, Naomi, and Leah take to Florida was fun to read about, since I haven’t spent much time on Florida’s west coast, and is a huge part of the story. I also enjoyed the descriptions of the colors and pattern of Nick’s very special quilt. It’ll be a long wait until next Spring, when Anna’s story is released!

Kimberly Taylor

Naomi knows she should be excited about her upcoming
wedding but she remains unmoved. Not only are her feelings for her fiance lackluster but she
believes he may see her more as a servant than a partner. And he’s so controlling. Is it too late
to back out of the marriage?

While praying for God’s
guidance, Naomi takes a break from her duties as a quilter and travels with her grandmother to
Pinecraft, Florida. Along the way Naomi finds herself becoming attracted to Nick, their
Englisch driver and friend, and the two begin to fall in love. The journey
soon becomes one in which Naomi explores her most secret dream for love. But can she veer off
the “safe” path she’d envisioned for her life to marry Nick?

  1. just have to throw in a plug for Allerednic! or anything by Chautona Havig, for that matter. I happened upon it as a freebie a long time back, and it’s definitely worth the 99c price tag (and more). A delightful “reversal” of Cinderella, a Regency, Christian fiction…It’s like a sweet caramel latte on a chilly damp day! refreshing, fun, and yet she weaves in the deep stuff in the midst of all the fun 🙂

  2. I love the versatility of Chautona Havig! Having read a couple of her fun contemporary romances, I read one of her suspenseful mysteries and enjoyed it even more! And then this one… so creative and entertaining! It’s rare to find an author whose books are all different.
