Facing Redemption

Kimberly McKay

Price: FREE

This was a terrific read!! I hadn’t read Finding Kylie, but you get enough background that you can read this without reading the prequel! This really drew me in and I felt the pain and joy of all the characters! I loved Chastity, and although I wanted to hate her Father,I felt his pain too! This story made me cry,but there were lighter moments too,the wedding day made me laugh so much, and the Author said she took that from her own wedding day,I liked that!
There is only one thing that keeps me from giving this five stars….the ending! I realise there is another book in this series coming out,but..the last few books I’ve read have left me feeling annoyed at the end,as has this one! It ended so abruptly, and I find this happening with more and more books, having said that,I will read Coming Home when it comes out,and I feel I have to go back and read Finding Kylie too!! You wont regret reading this one!

What if you had done something so unimaginable in your
past that you felt you could never be forgiven?

John Mikale, a man with a checkered reputation, can’t begin to shake his
guilt for the hurt he’s caused his daughter, Chastity, and how its scarred
so many people in its wake. Although an uphill battle, John diligently
strives to make up for lost time by writing Chastity letters, hoping to
bridge the gap.

John, now married and expecting another child, is haunted by cryptic
dreams, from which he awakes in terror. Driven to become a better man,
he forces himself to face his nightmares and the reality they represent.
Searching for decency within and hoping for a flicker of acceptance from
Chastity is the only way he knows to release his past and heal both their
wounds. But how can he expect forgiveness when he can’t begin to forgive
himself for the hurt he’s caused?

Chastity Wayne, finally free from her mother’s past, is ready to move on
with life. On the verge of a great relationship and about to start her
burgeoning art career, she’s sucked back into her family saga as she
breaks her personal promise to never read her father’s letters. From the
moment the first envelope is opened, the emotional freedom she’s tried
so hard to find is slowly reclaimed word by word.

Facing Redemption is a dual storyline that follows the path of an unwanted
father and daughter’s journey, through a trail of self-awareness and final
acceptance. It is also a continuance of the many unanswered questions from
Finding Kylie, book one in this series.

Widow of Gettysburg (Heroines Behind the Lines)

Jocelyn Green

Price: FREE

Jocelyn Green, the author of the book, “Widow of Gettysburg,” drapes the dark garlands of war, and its aftermath, over a patchwork quilt of courage, faith, and hope. Never once, does any segment of her tale overwhelm, but all elements contribute to the forward movement of the plot line. Intrigue and mystery thread throughout. Plot twists grab and capture. The reader never gets lost in point of view shuffles, nor does the “Widow of Gettysburg” bog down like an overloaded supply wagon on a soggy Gettysburg road. Quite the contrary, the storyline cannonballs forward to the end.
The characters in “Widow of Gettysburg” sparkle, especially Liberty Holloway, Bella Jamison, Silas Ford, and Harrison Caldwell. Even secondary characters such as Amelia Sanger, Myrtle Henderson, and the two doctors, O’Leary and Stephens, display humanity’s foibles; but the villains ooze sleaze like excrement from latrine trenches. The hero and heroine endear themselves, engage the reader in their struggles, but when villainy arises, we fret, rapidly turning the page to see if they will avoid disaster, but this is the Battle of Gettysburg. After all, what can a Confederate scout really expect from a Union soldier’s widow? Is there any hope of a happy ending as minie balls whiz through the air and cannons shell strong buildings?
Based in history and upon the writing of eyewitnesses, this book overflows with authenticity, drips veracity, and promotes acceptance instead of prejudice. Knowing the history of the Battle of Gettysburg does not spoil this gripping tale, but rather, adds to it.
The “Widow of Gettysburg” absolutely thrilled this reviewer. Jocelyn Green has given the world another great read in the “Widow of Gettysburg,” just as she did with “Wedded to War.” This reader recommends them highly. I received a complimentary copy of Widow of Gettysburg from the author, Jocelyn Green, but am under no obligation to provide a positive review.

Cassandra Wessel

Like Dandelion Dust

Karen Kingsbury

Price: $2.99

Like Dandelion Dust by Karen Kingsbury is a fabulously written story. Jack and Molly Campbell have the perfect life with their adopted son Joey. Until Joey’s biological father Rip decides he wants his son back, and the courts agree with him. How far will Jack and Molly go to protect their son from his abusive father? I hadn’t read anything by Kingsbury before, and I now sincerely regret that decision. She knows how to craft a story filled with emotion and drama without going into melodrama or stereotypical characters. Her descriptions of characters’ actions make each scene come alive in a way few authors can. I was moved to tears at least twice during the book. And while the book has a Christian message, it’s never pounded down the reader’s throat, but the way God affects each person by the end of the story is profound. This is a deep emotional novel with the message that God is in control, and we need to have the faith of a child to trust him.

Christina Lockstein

Kingsbury delivers a powerful new novel about two parents’ love for their child and the surprising lengths they will go to keep their family together when a judge rules that their adopted son must be returned to his biological father.

Reclaiming Nick: 1 (Noble Legacy)

Susan May Warren

Price: $1.99

I LOVED this story and I really loved Nick. (sssh, don’t tell Hubby I was swooning over a fictional character again. This book might actually show drool marks!) Susie found a home for Nick in the rugged western terrain and really made a splash with the women in our writers group….ohhh just wait until you meet Rafe in the upcoming sequel! Whew! I can’t wait to read it and in the meantime, YOU need to be reading THIS story! What are you waiting for? A tall tale, a hot cowboy – come on, really. Incorporate all that with an amazing, moving story and an inspiring, satisfying, SURPRISE ending, and…wow! Now that’s a novel.

Betsy Ann St. Amant

Nick Noble hadn’t planned on being the prodigal son. But when his father dies and leaves half of Silver Buckle—the Noble family ranch—to Nick’s former best friend, he must return home to face his mistakes, and guarantee that the Silver Buckle stays in the Noble family. Award-winning journalist Piper Sullivan believes Nick framed her brother for murder, and she’s determined to find justice. But following Nick to the Silver Buckle and posing as a ranch cook proves more challenging than she thinks. So does resisting his charming smile. As Nick seeks to overturn his father’s will—and Piper digs for answers—family secrets surface that send Nick’s life into a tailspin. But there’s someone who’s out to take the Silver Buckle from the Noble family, and he’ll stop at nothing—even murder—to make it happen.

All The Blue of Heaven (Colors of Faith)

Virginia Carmichael

Price: 99 cents

I had read “Season of Joy” and loved it so was excited to see another book by the same author. It did not disappoint. In fact, it’s hard for me to decide which was my favorite. I’m pretty new to this Kindle thing (I’m a traditionalist, I admit it freely), but am hooked–I plan on buying this later even though I got it for free. Wonderful character development and scene setting. I found it very easy to believe this was a real story. Good job of researching the time period and the historical details of the great earthquake. Looking forward to the next book by Virginia Carmichael!

Eight years ago, Allie Hathaway scandalized the wealthy elite of Chicago when she ran away to San Francisco. Now a world-renowned portrait painter, her life is filled with laughter and friendship, including being a mother to her orphaned niece. Life is perfect, so why can’t she forget her first love?
Thomas Bradford has come a long way from being the Hathaway family’s carriage boy. A veterinary degree, ambition and hard work have made him one of Chicago’s most sought-after bachelors. If only he could forget those stolen moments with Allie, Thomas might be able to enjoy his success.
The Great Quake of 1906 stuns the nation and Allie’s art studio burns to the ground, destroying years of valuable work. She’s forced to return to Chicago with little Janey, the only spark of hope in a life reduced to ashes. Her faith is crushed by her tragic reversal of fortune.
Thomas knows better than to fall for the beautiful young painter again, but he’s never been very wise around Allie Hathaway.
The carriage man’s son is all grown up and Allie doesn’t expect a second chance at a love that was refused eight years ago. Her life is in shambles and she has a child to support, so why won’t her heart accept the truth?
Once their love was torn apart by circumstance, but Thomas and Allie must decide whether to forge a future of hope together.
