The Wonder of Your Love (A Land of Canaan Novel)

Beth Wiseman

Price: $2.99

The Land of Canaan series has got to be one of my favorite Amish series…ever. If you don’t believe me, I dare you to compare them to some of the other Amish books on the shelves and see what you think. If they don’t have you glued to the pages like they do me…well then, we might have to have a little chat to change your mind (just kidding, I promise).

C. Janes

Katie Ann lost the love of her life. Then God offers her a new beginning in Colorado.

Katie Ann Stolzfus lives in the small Amish community of Canaan, Colorado. At forty she is widowed and raising her first child. But baby Jonas will never know his father, and Katie Ann wonders if her Heavenly Father hasn’t forgotten about her as well. Is it really God’s plan for her to be a single parent?

Eli Detweiler has come to Canaan for a wedding and a long vacation. Having raised six children following the death of his young wife, Eli is finally an empty-nester. He’s enjoying the slower pace of having no one to care for but himself.

When Katie Ann and Eli meet, there is an instant connection. Yet as strong as the attraction is, they both acknowledge that a romance would never work. He is done parenting, while she has just begun.

But as their friendship slowly blossoms into feelings that are as frightening as they are intoxicating, Katie Ann and Eli question if the plans they made for themselves are in line with God’s plans.

Can Katie Ann entrust her heart to another man, and rediscover the wonder of God’s love?

Wild Horses (Sadie’s Montana)

Linda Byler

Price: $1.99

“Wild Horses” is a must read if you enjoy amish fiction, you will not want this book to end, whenever I get into a good book it is like I live in the story, you are going to fall in love with Sadie and with the rancher and house keeper she works for. Her Christian up bringing has rubbed off on the rich rancher, and her love of horses is outstanding, I really think everyone who loves amish fiction should pick up this book.

L. Klobucher

The Miller family’s move from Ohio to Montana was, for the most part, uneventful, except that Sadie Miller had to leave her beloved horse, the palomino named Paris. Still, she likes the Montana snows and her job at Aspen East Ranch serving the ranch hands.

Unexpectedly, Ezra appears, the man who seems to be perfect in every way and fully intends to marry Sadie. But does she love him back? And who is this fascinating Mark, who helps rescue a dying horse and shows up at the Amish hymn-sing though he is English? Why can’t she get his dark eyes and tall stature out of her mind?

Now Sadie’s own close-knit family is falling apart. Mam claims her head is cluttered and unclear, and she no longer trusts herself to make a chocolate cake from scratch or to cut Reuben’s hair in a straight line. The worst part is that Dat refuses to acknowledge Mam’s struggles.

Sadie finds some refuge in Nevaeh, a black and white paint horse. But when a dreadful accident involving wild horses occurs, Sadie must move forward into the unknown future.

Will Dat let Mam seek professional help? Will Mam be willing to go?

Will Mark be at the next hymn-sing? Is he Amish or English? Will he like her favorite pink dress?

Will she see the wild horses again? Why do these phantom-like animals take her breath away every time they appear on the horizon?

Peas and Thank You! / VeggieTales (Big Idea Books / VeggieTales)

Mike Nawrocki

Price: $2.99

My 16 month old son loves this book (and all things VeggieTales). This book is about being polite, using manners, and working together. No child would ever read this book and take away a racist message. For a parent to read this book and think of it as racist is absurd. Its characters are peas and beans (I guess a bean could be offended if he read the book). If you like VeggieTales, you will like this book.

R. Gould

Help your child learn ‘zee’ importance of good manners! In the village of West Manor, you can stay, if you please, in a well-mannered town populated by Peas. All the natives are friendly—they go out of their way. When you stop to say, ‘Thank you!’ — ‘Why, you’re welcome!’ they’ll say. In the village of South Boorish, on the North side of town, lives a rude population—the rudest around. They’re, so very ill-mannered, such impolite Beans. If you stop to say, ‘Thank you,’ they won’t know what you mean! As these delightfully fun Peas and Beans head out to collect sunflower seeds, children discover that everyone wins when you learn to be polite and take turns. Sunday morning values, Saturday morning fun. Now that’s the Big Idea! Through imaginative and innovative products, Zonderkidz is feeding young souls.
