Conquer Clutter: 3 Books in 1 – Declutter Now, Organize Your Home, Simple Storage Systems – Discover the Secrets of a Clutter Free Lifestyle

Ava Conner

Price: FREE

I’ve read Conquer Clutter and it’s full of good ideas. One of those ideas is to finish one area before moving on but I am still stuck in the kitchen. I’ve cleaned the fridge, inside and out and the cupboards are clean and organized. I can’t get out of the kitchen until the counters are done. As a person who basically sees an empty surface as somewhere to stack stuff, I didn’t realize all that stuff was clutter. I thought it belong there in case I might use it sometime. When I get the counters decluttered my kitchen will be a joy to work in. The writing style is fresh and the attitude is encouraging. I think Conquer Clutter is a good guide if you just want to get one room under control or if you want to take on the whole house.

Luxury of Less: The Five Rings of Minimalism

Karol Gadja

Price: FREE

The Luxury of Less is certainly a good intro to simplifying your life, acting on the adventures you’ve wanted to have and not letting common excuses get in the way. I also highly recommend his ebook How to Live Anywhere if you’re interested in world travel or living in another country for a bit.

Luxury of Less is about how to live an extraordinary life without the physical and mental excess pervasive in our society today. It’s my story of deep depression and incredible happiness. It’s about true minimalism; mindset instead of the number of things you own.

The title and contents are very loosely based on The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi.

First, the Soup: Healthy Soup, Stew, and Chili Recipes (a Scrumptious Low-Calorie Recipes Cookbook)

Joan Holcomb

Price: FREE

The author has created a wonderful range of recipes that are easy, quick and simple. Some recipes use natural whole foods while others use the convenience of canned ingredients. The recipes are all low-fat and list the serving sizes, calories, carbs, fat,and fiber per serving.

D. Waisner

Several studies have shown that people who consume soup before a meal eat measurably fewer calories during the meal than those who have nothing prior to mealtime. Soup can be filling and satisfying without having an excess of calories. It can, in itself, be a meal (or a snack).

This cookbook has soup recipes which are generally lower in calories than their full-calorie counterparts. Avoiding fillers such as cornstarch and including healthy ingredients makes them more nutritious and less fattening. Even better, the recipes taste great, too! Time after time I’ve received compliments on these recipes from people who are watching their weight, and people who aren’t (and seem surprised that they’re eating a lower-calorie recipe).

So try these out, and enjoy!

Important note: this is not a cookbook with zero calorie soups. Those looking for zero (or nearly zero) calorie soups can use commercially prepared low-calorie soups, broth, or bouillons. While the calories per serving of the soups in this cookbook are under 200 calories per serving, they aren’t zero. In particular, stews and chilis will never reach under 50 calories per serving due to the characteristic nature of their ingredients.

Also, this the recipes are not necessarily low-carb. Because of all the vegetables, they have carbs, in some cases lots of carbs, but they’re GOOD, healthy carbs.

Disclaimer: The contents of this cookbook may not be construed as a medical diagnosis, treatment, advice, claim, or substitute for a physician’s care. Consult a physician or other health care provider before starting a weight loss or exercise program. Joan’s results are not typical, and she cannot guarantee you will have the same results. Your results are up to you!

COAL & COCA-COLA: Small Town USA 1949 (Short True Story w/Photos) (Visceral History)

Linda G. Shelnutt

Price: FREE

This story, “Coal and Coca Cola” is the true story of Linda’s mother, Marge opening a bakery to support her two children. Yes, the bakery was to support her two children, but Marge had baking talent (the pictures of her bakery case are evident of that!) and baking interest, so I think it was a labor of love rather than just labor out of necessity. When I saw the pictures of her bakery case full of mouth-watering treats, not only was I amazed at this hard-working mother’s talents, but I also wanted one of her treats! I was even more amazed when Linda said she had these cases full by 8:00 am each day except Sunday. That is truly amazing! Yes, her mother had talent! And her mother was indeed a hard-working professional! Her bakery was a success.

Regarding this unusual short work, the author says:

“I have always admired my mother’s bull dog determination as a divorced, single woman supporting herself and two kids through a business of her own as a professional baker. Against various types of odds for a woman in 1949, when my brother was around five years old, and I was two, our mother, Marge Hudnall, borrowed $6,000 from a local bank in her small town of Florence, Colorado (around 3,000 population at that time), opened a bakery, and repaid the loan in two years.

“Through that venture, she accomplished more than earning a living, as I discovered when I interviewed her for this story, and she automatically began recalling events which were news to me and almost news to her. I typed furiously, in my personal shorthand, as my Mom began talking, seeming to fall into a trance of her personal and professional history. For several nonstop hours, the interview flowed on its own so freely, I didn’t have to pause typing to ask more than a few questions. Within the historic ambiance which Mom described in our interview, Sloppy Joes were originated in the 50’s in The Malt Shop Bakery and Bus Depot in Florence, Colorado. Margie’s bakery story, COAL & COCA-COLA proves the origin or that juicy sandwich and more.”

Read this energizing short story while it steams, as an upgraded unabridged KINDLE edition with a photo essay included.

This short work is dedication to this entrepreneurial mother who has earned respect beyond words.
