Baroness (Daughters of Fortune (Summerside Press))
Price: $1.99
How to describe Baroness…breathtaking is the first word that comes to mind. Complex, relatable characters, intricate story lines and a fast paced plot full of surprises, plus spiritual insights. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. I could not put this book down. I have read all of Susan May Warren’s books. She’s my absolute favorite author and, I have to say, she just keeps getting better. This book is so well written, it just draws you in, you feel like you’re right there experiencing everything with the characters. There’s not one dull moment in this story. This is an incredible book that you won’t regret reading.

I really loved this book. I actually want to go out now and get the first book, “Accused” and read more. The author has a great way of making you fall in love with the characters and get attached. I found myself holding my breath each time they were getting so close to saving the baby and then missing him again. I cried when Carley and her ex-husband finally shared their true feeling and hurts. And I rejoiced when things started to work out for everyone in the book. I look for to the next & last book in this series, I’m sure I’ll be reading it too. I would recommend this book to those who love a good crime book, romance, all with a Christian prospective. A fast paced easy read.
But then everything starts going wrong. Slow to recover from an injury, her ex-husband, Nick, begins pulling away just as they were starting to get close again. Meanwhile, when Joe’s wife lands in the hospital with a mysterious illness, their baby is kidnapped. As Carly chases down every lead in a desperate search to find the baby, her newfound faith is pushed to its limits.

I loved this story and I really can’t wait to read the second in the series. I love history and am a voracious reader. I especially love stories about early America. My only criticism would be that the book was too short! A wonderful and thoughtful story with wonderful characters!
