Getting to No: How to Break a Stubborn Habit

Getting to No: How to Break a Stubborn Habit

Erwin W. Lutzer

Price: FREE

…I participated in a 12 step program for over 13 years, yet didn’t experience full freedom, hence why I purchased the book. For me, the book’s suggestions is what is making the difference. With God all things are possible, and HE wants us free from bondage, once and for all. I knew that I still had more work to do, to break completely from my addiction, and with God on my side, the rest is history!

Aniloly

Everyone is familiar with the cycle: We decide to break a bad habit once and for all. We may even experience some short-term success. Yet almost inevitably, we fall back into that undesirable behavior and the frustrating process starts all over again. The experience can leave us feeling powerless to make changes in our lives.

Popular author and pastor Erwin Lutzer believes it is possible to break the cycle of addictive behavior. Filled with biblical insight, Getting to No: How to Break a Stubborn Habit takes an honest look at the temptations lying beneath the surface of every bad habit. Lutzer examines tough issues – such as why temptation exists, what purpose it serves in our lives, and what happens when we fail again – and provides practical tools that will help you find freedom from bad habits for good.

Tex-Mex Recipes - 100 Recipes to Spice Up Your Appetite

Tex-Mex Recipes – 100 Recipes to Spice Up Your Appetite

Tera Davis

Price: FREE

I love spicy foods, and the Tex-Mex theme is one that I seem drawn too. I haven’t seen many cookbooks with a lot of recipes in that genre, so I snapped this one up to give it a try. I was happy with what I found. The recipes were simple and easy to follow; using packaged seasonings so there was less measuring of all the little ingredients. There were many varieties of the standard tacos and enchiladas, including casseroles. There were also some tasty vegetarian dishes, for those meatless diners. I especially enjoyed the Texas Taco Salad. I have fixed about 8 of these recipes, and plan to work my way through the rest.

Within this cookbook of 100 Tex-Mex recipes you will find meals that will satisfy the whole family. Ask Jackie: Homestead Cooking

Ask Jackie: Homestead Cooking

Jackie Clay-Atkinson (Author), Backwoods Home Magazine (Editor)

Price: FREE

This book was recommended by a friend. I’ve been interested in nutrition for many years and been concerned about our food supply. This book gives you insight into what is happening and what you can do to avoid the pitfalls. The author speaks from her own experience which I find refreshing, instead of a bunch of statistics and boring facts. She gives you enough specifics so you can form your own opinion. If you’re looking to understand some of the background surrounding our food supply and wish to know what will keep you healthy, buy this book.

Marcia C. Brandt Author Step Away from the Chocolate

This large book is perfect for the kitchen. Departing from canning, this installment of the “Ask Jackie” series covers everything from vegetables to vinegar. Spanning from dairy, to grains, to meals, to fruit and vegetables, its pages provide delicious recipes, handy hints, and practical advice for those learning to cook or perfecting their skills as a self-sufficient homesteader. This fits nicely with both Water Bath Canning and Pressure Canning to provide a truly comprehensive guide to food preparation.
