Jillian Kent does a fabulous job of creating a story around characters that feel like friends and of bringing up historical and social issues in a way that makes you want to know more. I highly recommend this book!

Great book! It is full of lessons on why we should not “judge” others. I just enjoyed reading the story about Ruth’s journey to overcome her grief after losing her fiancee and finding a whole new world after she got to San Francisco through the eyes and actions of a family friend’s daughter. It was great to see Ruth mature and grow to love again. I would like to read the story of her grandmother’s journey West. I would definitely recommend it! You might want to read the first book about her grandmother before reading this one.
