When the Sanders family, along with four other families from their hometown in Missouri, decided to travel west to Oregon, they knew the trip would not be an easy one. But they could not imagine the hardships and heartaches they would encounter. Nor did they know they were a part of history that would be read about for centuries. I felt comfortable in giving this book 5 stars even though there were a few typos because the storyline held my interest and the writing style was excellent.
If you like books like Little house On the Prairie, Anne of Greene Gables, and similar series, you’ll probably like LINDY ON THE OREGON TRAIL, book one in the Oregon series. AGES 11 and UP.

This is a beautifully written and illustrated story of the first few months with your new baby that I think any mother could identify with. You are running around like crazy trying to make sure the house doesn’t fall to pieces, and in the haste you forget to take a breath and just sit down and live in the moment. I remember picking up my sleeping child from the crib, sitting down in the rocking chair and telling myself that I would only get one chance with this baby in this exact moment. It’s a reminder to slow and down and enjoy those times: they are precious and short-lived. It really is the perfect book for any new mom or mom-again. Sure to be a classic!

This is a great children’s poem / story. It makes you want to grab a mug of hot chocolate and snuggle up in front of the fire with your kids and dogs. (Kids will like it because it has doggies in it.)

BAILEY’S BIRTHDAY – Birthdays Children’s Picture Book (Fully Illustrated Version)
Price: FREE
This book series is really well done and teaches valuable lessons!
A New York story weighs love against material wealth.
CELEBRATING GIFTS OF THE HEART
Seventeen days until Margot’s seventh birthday-and then it will be Bailey’s birthday, too. It’s the Great Birthday Month!
And birthdays mean presents-or so Bailey has heard.
“I’m sure you”ll get lots,” says Claudia. Her owner Nicki always gets FABULOUS gifts.
“We just have to be good…” says Margot, “before we get all our presents, too.”
And Bailey is good. He doesn’t bark. He doesn’t jump on Aunt Syl. He doesn’t sleep on the sofa. Bailey is actually CALM! “Here come the presents,” thinks the hopeful Dalmatian.
Bailey will soon discover that the best presents are not gift-wrapped
Set in New York City, author Elizabeth Happy’s story of great expectations presents a dog’s eye view of big city life-from comfortable brownstones to soaring skyscrapers, from the din of early-morning garbage collectors to the clamor of evening rush hour, from Central Park to the Staten Island Ferry.
Illustrator Andra Chase has captured the whole scene in vivid watercolors. And her depictions of the eager-to-please Bailey and his muddled sidekick Claudia are heart stealing.
First published in 1994, this timeless story includes the Twin Towers as an important part of this New York City landscape.
BAILEY’S BIRTHDAY is “a kiss and a bandanna” and a gift of love to readers of all ages.
So hit the sidewalks of New York with a girl named Margot and a Dalmatian pup named Bailey. Both are on their best behavior in anticipation of their shared birthday celebration. Children will feel Bailey’s keen disappointment when all he gets for his birthday is a kiss and a bandanna. And they will rejoice with Bailey’s realization that the love and support of his family are more important than material gifts.
A SURPRISE and added bonus is the “Enrichment Information” which includes lots of facts about The Statue of Liberty, the Staten Island Ferry, the famous New York Skyline, including the Twin Towers, Central Park and Manhattan Island.. This is fascinating detail that did not make it into the story itself, but is very rich in interesting description.
A second big plus is the “Letter to Parents and Educators” which includes many relevant questions and comments to facilitate conversation with young readers about the message of the story…the importance of love and family and home…and the UNIMPORTANCE of material possessions. So even though on the surface this is just an engaging story for children, it is also truly helpful in a real way.

The Adventures Of Two Little Ducklings – “There Is No Place Like Home” (Book I)
Price: FREE
This is a cute little story for children about a couple of ducklings who go on an adventure away from home and get lost. It reads pretty quickly and teaches a couple of nice lessons to your kids. It would certainly make a good bedtime story. The characters are unique and interesting and make for a lovely story. Included on many pages are a lot of very nicely drawn pictures that kids will love. I expect that The Adventures of Two Little Ducklings stories will prove to be a wonderful series of children’s books. If you have youngsters in your family, I definitely recommend giving this book a try.
In the first book “There Is No Place Like Home” when the two ducklings decide to go exploring in search of a little fish that has caught the older one’s eye, they aren’t afraid of getting lost. However, when they hear about the crocodile that lives nearby, they start to think about heading home.
This is great story for little children before their bedtime. It also includes wonderful images for them to enjoy.
