Peek-A-Boo Jungle: A Fun Guessing Book For Little Ones

Peek-A-Boo Jungle: A Fun Guessing Book For Little Ones

Cindy Bracken

Price: FREE

This book contains adorable illustrations of different jungle animals. My little one had fun trying to guess what animal was hiding behind the leaf, rock or other jungle landscape. It would make a great board book, as I could see a toddler enjoying the pictures even without it being read to them. The book was formatted perfectly on my iPhone and the font was easy to read. This is my favorite book so far from this author and it is a keeper!

This is a great little bedtime story; very inspiring and the message is to reach for the stars! All things are possible, and I love the characters! Great role models for my little girl. My son loved the illustrations, which as usual for this author, are wonderful and vibrant! My son is 5, but I believe that even younger kids would be captivated by the artwork.

The World According to Perdita Whacknoodle: Two Christmas Stories

The World According to Perdita Whacknoodle: Two Christmas Stories

Jim Gibson (Author), Nancy Sisk (Illustrator)

Price: FREE

Oh my. A classic bedtime read. Get it. Read it to your kids. They’ll never forget it, and they’ll beg you to read it again and again!

Bruce Morrow

Two MOST Unusual Christmas Stories?

Perdita Whacknoodle is a dog with a most unusual view of the world. She thinks dogs are, in every way, superior to humans. Seriously.
AND she somehow transmits these wacky dog thoughts and stories directly into Laura’s head. Laura is a normal fourth-grader who writes all Perdita’s stories down when she realized that, crazy as she is, Perdita is not at all like any other dog.

In these two special Christmas stories, Perdita tells Laura about her father, a dog she calls “Par,” and his crazy attempts to enjoy Christmas in the country. Par is an adventurous scalawag, and he’s also the most wanted dog in the United States – wanted by sheriffs, police, and dog-catchers everywhere. AND Par is wanted by his sworn enemy, the pompous school principal, Mr. Wimpy.

A Surprise Christmas Mashed Potato Explosion

It’s Christmas in the country, and the house is all decorated. Guests are arriving for Farmer’s fancy Christmas dinner. Everyone is excited.

What could possibly go wrong? A lot, when the Whacknoodle family of dogs is involved.

When Par tries to get a better view of the spectacular Christmas feast, he’s accidentally launched from “The Christmas Tree of Doom.” When he lands in the middle of the dinner table, Par creates a “magnificent mashed potato explosion” that takes all the Christmas dinner guests by surprise.

Of course, the guests are screaming and flustered, because they’re covered head-to-toe in yucky, dripping potatoes.

But Par is a quick-thinking dog! He keeps his head, even in the midst of chaos and confusion, so he snatches a wonderful Christmas dinner for himself before he escapes.

Unfortunately for Par, the comfortable spot he chooses for his own Christmas feast makes the humans EVEN madder, but Par is experienced at dodging bullets, and his Christmas meal ends suddenly, as he leaves behind a trail of chaos and confusion among all the humans.

But Par is very happy, and he knows he’s made the Christmas feast something special that no one will ever forget!

The Christmas Carol of Doom

In Perdita’s second new Christmas story,”The Christmas Carol of Doom,” Par’s elaborate plans to bring Christmas cheer to the town of Dahlonega backfires. In a big way.

In this story, Par, and his “acappucino” canine singing group (who call themselves “The Twelve Dogs of Christmas”) plan to sing carols around the town…and get lots of free food for their efforts.

Surprisingly, it doesn’t work out that way, and there is an unwelcome surprise, lots of exploding Christmas decorations, and almost a police chase. When the dogs finish their songs, Par’s enemy, Mr. Wimpy, is frazzled, angry, and NOT at all filled with Christmas cheer. Plus, he’s destroyed all his own Christmas decorations as he chases Par’s canine carolers!

Amazingly, in the midst of the chaos and confusion, Par and his dog friends discover their own idea of the real spirit of Christmas.
And for once, Laura thinks that Perdita and her wacky dog family may be right.

It’s NOT Just Another Cute Dog Story!

You can find lots of cute dog stories. There are lots of heart-warming dog stories, too.

But there’s never been a collection of stories like Perdita Whacknoodle’s odd dog-centered view of the world – and her strange family of MOST unusual dogs.

When you read Perdita’s books, you’ll wonder whether YOUR dog has a family like Perdita’s.

It’s very possible, you know. Especially at Christmas.

Burly & Grum and the Secret City (A Burly and Grum Tale)

Kate Tenbeth (Author), Rob Jones (Illustrator)

Price: FREE

In short, I love it. Its innocence makes it ideal to be read to younger readers (it’s not too long – maybe 40 pages) or a good one for beginner chapter book readers. My son is 11, and I know he’ll have a good time reading it, too.

P. Creeden

Burlington Bear, Grum the groblin and Max are best friends. Burly and Grum show Max a secret city in the the middle of the forest but hunters are tracking them down. They knock out Burly, capture Max and want to turn the Secret City into a tourist attraction. Throw in some big cats, Grum’s mother and brothers, Mike the Angel, a deer and a few ducks and the day becomes very exciting!

Spiders: Amazing Photos & Fun Facts on Animals in Nature (Our Amazing World Series)

Kay de Silva

Price: FREE

We’ve shared a couple of Kay de Silva’s picture books in the past, and as with the others, this is packed full of lovely, bright clear colour photographs and a great deal of fascinating facts too. Perfect for kids and their grown ups!

D. C. Wiggs

Bestselling children’s author Kay de Silva presents “Spiders”. The book uses captivating illustrations and carefully chosen words to teach children about “humankind’s friend”.

This series is known as one of the most beautiful on the Kindle. The pictures look great even in black and white and are excellent on the full color Kindle. The description in the large text beneath is simple enough for early readers or for a parent to guide a child through.

There is also a picture caption, which provides more information to talk about with your child. Alternatively, a child of any age (even the child in you) can just look at the images and appreciate its beauty.

This book depicts the wonder of the world of Spiders in all its glory. Children are given a well-rounded understanding of this fascinating creature: its anatomy, feeding habits and behavior. The following spiders are featured:

  • The mysterious Black Widow
  • The dangerous Brazilian Wandering Spider
  • The shy Brown Recluse Spider
  • The deceptive Crab Spider
  • The unique Diving Bell Spider
  • The fun-loving Jumping Spider
  • The beefy Tarantula

I enjoyed compiling this book. I even learned a few things along the way. Perhaps you will too.
