From a Distance (Timber Ridge Reflections, Book #1)
Price:FREE
This is the first book I’ve read by Tamera Alexander, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Compelling characters must deal with the aftermath of the Civil War as well as their own personal secrets. The majestic mountains and setting of Colorado Territory come alive through Alexander’s vivid descriptions.
Determined to become one of the country’s premier newspaper photographers, Elizabeth Westbrook travels to the Colorado Territory to capture the grandeur of the mountains surrounding the remote town of Timber Ridge. She hopes, too, that the cool, dry air of Colorado, and its renowned hot springs, will cure the mysterious illness that threatens her career, and her life.
Daniel Ranslett, a former Confederate sharpshooter, is a man shackled by his past, and he’ll do anything to protect his land, and his solitude. When an outspoken Yankee photographer captures an image that appears key to solving a murder, putting herself in danger, Daniel is called upon to repay a debt. He’s a man of his word, but repaying that debt could bring secrets from his past to light.
Forced on a perilous journey together, Daniel and Elizabeth’s lives intertwine in ways neither could have imagined when first they met…from a distance.

This is one of those rare books that is just almost impossible to start and not finish in one reading. I promised to read this book at the behest of a friend and, quite frankly, was a little hesitant because I did not know the author and usually do not read so-called inspirational romances. How surprised I was to get hooked on not only the story but the wonderful writing style of the author. To be sure it has romance and inspiration throughout but is done in such a subtle, unobtrusive manner that the reader feels it not only belongs in the story but is absolutely necessary.
Kate Shaughnessey faces a difficult decision, attempt to keep her family’s life together on their homestead in the Oklahoma Territory in the wake of her husband’s sudden death, or sell the precious land that is all they have left to Matt Johnson, a ruthless cattle baron.
Luke Josey is running from his past. What secrets haunt this enigmatic man? Can he truly be free from his sins and learn to love again? One thing is certain, he will fight to protect the family that has adopted him as their own.
An uplifting story of spiritual renewal, personal sacrifice and coming home.

The story is tender and woven with grace. Jennifer raises many questions about the relationship of a pastor with his congregation and his family. Does God call a man or a couple? What roles are appropriate for the wife of a pastor? It gave me a new perspective in what it must be like to live the “fish bowl” life. A thought-provoking, but gentle book from a lovely author.
Nick Shepherd thought he had put the past behind him, until the day his estranged wife walked back into town. Now, he must admit the mistakes he made, how he hurt his wife, and find a way to give and receive forgiveness.
As God works in both of their lives, Nick and Maura start to believe they can repair their broken relationship and reunite as man and wife. But Maura has one more secret to tell Nick before they can move forward. It’s what ultimately drove her to leave him six years earlier, and the one thing that can destroy the fragile trust they’ve built.

Fools Rush In (Weddings by Bella, Book 1)
Price:FREE
This book was funny from the first page. I have never read a book with so much religion in it before, but that did not stop me from picking up this book. Just from reading the description on the back of the book, I knew that I had to read this. I love anything weddings, and a little bit of romance never hurts.
When a misunderstanding leads her to the DJ (and man) of her dreams, things start falling into place. But with a family like hers, nothing is guaranteed. Can the perfect Texan wedding survive a pizza-making uncle with mob ties, an aunt who is a lawsuit waiting to happen, and a massive delivery of 80 cowboy boots? And will Bella ever get to plan her own wedding?
Book one in the Weddings by Bella series, Fools Rush In is fun, fresh, and full of surprises. Readers will love the flavorful combination of Italian and Tex-Mex, and the hilarity that ensues when cultures clash.

Saving Hope: Men of the Texas Rangers Book 1
Price:FREE
Overall, this was a sound romantic suspense novel that touched on some difficult issues in modern society. I know that many readers of Christian fiction prefer to avoid potentially disturbing issues such as these even though the difficult issues were addressed with a high degree of sensitivity, and no graphic language or imagery. Saving Hope was an engaging read that I anticipate will be enjoyed by fans of the genre. I would certainly read more books from Margaret Daley.
Now it’s personal, and Wyatt finds both his faith and investigative skills challenged as he fights to discover the mastermind behind the ring before evil destroys everyone he loves.
