31 Kisses

31 Kisses

Chautona Havig

Price: FREE

Chautona Havig has quickly become a favorite writer of mine. She’s right up there with Francine Rivers. If you are looking for an escape and enjoy the other books in the Rockland Chronicles, this one is for you! One of the things I love is that her story lines are all so different and her characters are just real-life, regular people!

SG

When one plus one equals thirty-one…

It happens every day.
Guy meets grandpa – and girl.
Guy knocks grandpa off ladder.
Guy kisses girl to make it “all better.”
Every day.
For a month.
Just your normal, average, all-American romance…

Meet Chessie and Carson. She goes “all out” for Christmas (and every other holiday including Columbus Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Flag Day); he doesn’t own a single thing that could be considered decorative – unless you count the stickers he stuck to his dresser back when he was three.

Neither of them have ever had a serious relationship; both are opposed to frivolous expressions of affection. How on earth did they get tangled up in a “kiss-a-day-during-December” pact?

Running Barefoot

Running Barefoot

I’ve read a lot of YA novels. This book has similarities to the other YA books I’ve read, but the main story was refreshingly different from anything I’d read before. I instantly bonded with the main character in the beginning when she lets the reader know her feelings on the book Wuthering Heights. I don’t want to give anything away, but I feel exactly the way she does about that particular book. I also love to be surprised by things when I read, and there were a lot of surprises for me in this one. If you like a good YA novel, you will love this book!

Emily B.

When Josie Jensen, an awkward 13-year-old musical prodigy crashes headlong into new-comer Samuel Yazzie, an 18-year-old Navajo boy full of anger and confusion, an unlikely friendship blooms. Josie teaches Samuel about words, music and friendship, and along the way finds a kindred spirit. Upon graduation, Samuel abandons the sleepy, small town in search of a future and a life, leaving his young friend behind. Many years go by and Samuel returns, finding Josie in need of the very things she offered him years before. Their roles reversed, Samuel teaches Josie about life, love, and letting go. Deeply romantic and poignant, Running Barefoot is the story of a small town girl and a Native American boy, the ties that bind them to their homes and families, and the love that gives them wings.

The Twelve Days of Christmas

The Twelve Days of Christmas

Rick Yuzzi

I really enjoyed the way this book was written – it was a good story, and was told well. Things just kept moving right along until the very surprise ending (which was a great ending!). I definitely recommend this story if you want to read something that lifts you up and puts you in the “Christmas Spirit.”

J. King

Brett Riley had a plan to escape Christmas. A road trip to Vegas. He thought it would be the perfect way to avoid painful memories he associated with the holiday – a pain that had grown as the years passed, especially now that he was retired from the military and living alone.

Brett hadn’t anticipated meeting Grace on the first day of his trip, an intriguing hitchhiker he picked up in a rest stop, who over the next twelve days would help him come to terms with his past and discover the true meaning of Christmas.
