Then someone made her life a literary cliché. A mysterious accident with a light bulb sparked an interesting idea for her latest novel—and for Fairbury’s new serial killer. The first replication infuriated her. The second left an even worse taste in her mouth. The third blasted more than her self-confidence, and the fourth beat her down so far she’s considering giving up writing completely.
Who is killing Fairbury’s citizens, and furthermore, why and how are they using her novels to do it?

I recommend this story be read by everyone. It’s mature enough for me as a 28-year-old adult to read and adore, and I would also feel 100% comfortable with giving it to any preteen or senior adult to read as well. Simply put, it’s a heartwarming love story.
It happens every day.
Guy meets grandpa–and girl.
Guy knocks grandpa off ladder
Guy kisses girl to make it “all better.”
Every day.
For a month.
Just your normal, average, all-American romance…
Meet Chessie and Carson. She goes “all out” for Christmas (and every other holiday including Columbus Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Flag Day); he doesn’t own a single thing that could be considered decorative–unless you count the stickers he stuck to his dresser back when he was three.
Neither of them have ever had a serious relationship; both are opposed to frivolous expressions of affection. How on earth did they get tangled up in a “kiss-a-day-during-December” pact?

This amazing book is an intriguing page-turner that will grab your attention from the first paragraph to the last. Rae’s colorful and vivid descriptions make it easy to imagine being in India for an 8-week summer mission trip along with Asha, the delightful, yet determined main character. Stolen Woman contains all the qualities that make up a good read: suspense, intrigue, romance, characters that are likeable and interesting, and also a bigger purpose. Asha is determined to rescue 16 yr. old Rani who was stolen from her home and forced to live a life of prostitution, but she has no idea of the dangers to which she is exposing herself and others. This book increases one’s awareness to the heart wrenching reality of human trafficking, and yet does so in a tasteful and inoffensive manner. You’re left not in despair or depression, but with a message of hope and a desire to somehow make a difference. I highly recommend this fast-paced novel to anyone who enjoys Christian romance or suspense. I can’t wait for the sequel to come out!

I have read many a historical romance novel, some I have loved, some I haven’t, but I can safely say, without a shadow of a doubt, that The Rebel’s Pledge was one of my true favourites. This delightful story not only captured my imagination effortlessly, but I felt as if I were watching this story unfolding upon a movie screen before me; that nuance of regret surfacing when it finally came to an end. Rita Gerlach’s flawless ability to create a historical atmosphere or place pictures and faces in your mind without an abundance of needless description is immense. An over-descriptive story would usually find me skipping through paragraphs, but The Rebels Pledge had me wanting to read every single word. This novel transports you back in time and each uniquely characteristic person within the story can inveigle his or her own emotion from you through Rita’s writing. I am, myself, an aspiring authoress of historical romance living in the UK and because of this, had to order this book, then wait patiently for some weeks for it to arrive. It was definitely worth the wait and I sincerely hope that one day not only will I write as lovely a story as The Rebels Pledge, but also become as gifted an author of historical romance as Rita Gerlach.
Lara Carey will only wed for love, having kept the story of her parents’ unwavering devotion for each other in her heart. When she learns her guardian has promised her in marriage to a rich English lord in order to save the ancestral home, her hopes unravel, until she meets the heroic stranger that rescued her from the hands of a highwayman..

To Love Anew (Sydney Cove Series #1)

To Love Anew is a heartwarming story of a life renewed from ashes. Hannah’s circumstances spiral downward after her mother’s death. When she’s sent on a prison ship to Australia, she faces dreadful conditions. As a reader, I loved how Bonnie Leon showed so many details of life aboard convict ships, and what faced the survivors when they reached Australia. The book is filled with memorable characters and situations. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
John Bradshaw was a successful businessman whose untamed spirit sometimes wanted more. When he is betrayed by those closest to him, he loses everything–his wife, his business, even his freedom. John’s and Hannah’s paths are about to cross. Aboard a ghastly, nineteenth-century prison ship from London to Australia, John and Hannah must keep hope alive and trust God’s unconditional love.
